The U.S. Capitol building at dusk. (Barnyz, https://flic.kr/p/2i15xPp; CC BY-NC-ND 2.0, https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/2.0/) Nature, they say, abhors a vacuum. It also abhors a monoculture. That’s because monocultures are a formula for catastrophic failure. Yet the U.S. federal government seems to love them. Indeed, as a consulting firm’s study recently confirms, when it comes to communications and collaboration software, U.S. agencies embrace the monoculture fallacy and in doing so, they create a national security risk. In 18 Years, Pumpkin Spice Knocked Out Apple As The Flavor Of Fall
In the fall of 2003, Starbucks tested a new latte in two cities and autumn hasn't been the same since. The pumpkin spice craze was born. How did it all happen? We can thank free market economics. The company already had Christmas locked up with cups and flavors, like Peppermint Mocha and Eggnog latte, and wanted to do the same for Halloween. Or Thanksgiving. Whatever period lasts as long as Christmas seems to, they wanted to make money and the way to do that was to come up with something new, or at least new for their customers. ‘Race Norming’ And Health Care Jim Crow
The term “race norming ” ought to be immediately suspected as having a nefarious intent. Anything referred to as norming in a racist society invariably ends with Black people getting the short end of the stick. The concept that Black bodies are anatomically different may be known as “race correction”, “ethnic adjustment”, or “race adjustment” and causes Black people to be undertreated for pain, undiagnosed for serious illness, and denied life saving treatments because of an idea which is inherently white supremacist and very much unscientific. We are told that the Renaissance led to the recovery of art, philosophy, and literature of antiquity (Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome). What we are not told is that the Renaissance also led to the recovery of antiquity’s merciless methods: slavery, plunder, and carnage. The painters and writers of the Renaissance glorified the gladiator spectacles in which the slaves were butchered. They glorified the massacre of the barbarians by the Greeks and the Romans. They depicted slavery as a normal part of ancient life. Between the sixth and fourteenth centuries AD, slavery in Europe was in... read more
