Adorable moment leopard tries to lead her cubs across a road
A lucky safari park visitor caught a rare glimpse at a patient mother leopard relocating her small baby cubs and helping them cross the road. Thinus Delport, 64, told his daughters to start singing to entice the animals out while visiting the Kruger National Park in South Africa and to their surprise it worked. The leopard mother is first spotted with her cubs in the bushes to the side of the road, much to the excitement of visitors who can be heard cooing at the adorable youngsters in the background of the clip. The spotted animal soon realises they didn't come with her and stands... more »

Megan Murray, a Whole Foods store worker in Philadelphia, writes that many of the precautionary procedures put in place are laughably poor. Our set design also remains largely the same, although recently we’ve had to highlight red and blue colors and build a swing to denote the characterizations of “states.” Throughout the decades, our show has been labeled a melodrama, a tragicomedy, and even science fiction. Coronavirus: Why Price Controls Are Good for Masks (Not in Other Cases)
*Amihai Glazer* *Public Health, Americas* [image: Reuters] The coronavirus pandemic is an outlier. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that people wear a cloth face covering for their nose and mouth to protect others from the spread of the coronavirus. Research shows masks lead to a more than threefold reduction in how much flu virus people spray into the air. Yet there have been reports for weeks that there are shortages of face masks, both the N95 respirators needed by health workers and the simpler ones worn by the public. While companies have promised t... more »

Since the release of the 2018 National Defense Strategy (NDS), the Pentagon has had to realign priorities to adjust to a slow-down in defense spending. That challenge may be exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Some predict the pandemic-induced economic downturn and huge stimulus package will necessitate cuts to the defense budget. What If Kim Jong-un Dies? Maybe Nothing.
*Karl Friedhoff* *Security, * Or all hell breaks loose. Here are two possible ways things could go if Kim is dead. The short answer in the shortest-of-terms is: nothing. If Kim Jong-un were suddenly to pass away, the outside world would likely not know about his passing for days. But two scenarios seem the most likely. The fact that the two scenarios range from status quo to total chaos tells us just how unpredictable the situation is and how little insight we have into the inner workings of North Korea. The first is a scenario in which it is clear who will be the new leader of... more »

Leftist insanity: Gun free zones edition
The left's beliefs are generally based on lies, fiction, or bias so it's not surprising that they think that declaring a zone to be "gun free" will actually reduce gun crimes. For the idea of a "gun free" zone to work it would be necessary that legal, licensed gun owners regularly just started shooting things up. Otherwise if we don't assume that's the case we have to assume that people who plan to use a gun to murder or rob will be deterred because they would have to break the law forbidding guns in the area. Now that's crazy. Apparently the left thinks that criminals who are abo... more »

Yes, at the start of the 1990s a series about a dead woman who'd experienced child abuse, rape, forced prostitution and was finally murdered was the stuff of light hearted entertainment. And I suppose this was one of the many layers of commentary on Americana David Lynch wanted to get out there. Subsequently having acquired a formidable, critically acclaimed reputation and widely known for being completely weird, the two seasons of *Twin Peaks* - broadcast in 1990 and 1991 - every trope of American film, television, literature, ... more »

When war looms, protect the truth at all cost
The tone and content of the accusations levelled by the imperialists at China has changed. From blaming China to now holding it responsible and demanding reparations, not for the deaths of its citizens, but as is the capitalist way, for their financial losses. The nature of these aggressive demands could lead to war. The purpose of this article is to disperse the myths behind which the neo-cons are plotting their intrigues.

One Possible War Scenario Between The United States And Iran
*South Front:* *What War between the United States and Iran Could Look Like* The US-Iranian standoff in the Persian Gulf has once again entered an acute phase. On April 22, US President Donald Trump announced that he had ordered the US Navy to “shoot down and destroy” Iranian gunboats that follow or harass US ships. In response, Commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, Major General Hossein Salami declared on April 23 that Iran will provide a swift, “decisive” and “effective” response to US forces if they threaten Iranian “vessels or warships”. Bad Signal? The FCC, Ligado, and National Security
*Gary Schmitt* *FCC, United States* Is there is a limit to the FCC’s independence when it comes to questions of national security? Independent agencies have always been an odd fit within the American constitutional order. Often they will have legislative, judicial, and executive authorities under one hat. They make binding rules, adjudicate adherence to them and, at times, punish failures to abide by their findings. What the founders intended to largely separate as a measure for the establishment of sound and safe government, later generations determined was not sufficient to re... more »

Wednesday, April 22, 2020 by: Mike Adams (Natural News) It’s now abundantly clear where things are headed with the coronavirus pandemic in the United States. Unchecked Global Warming Means Big Trouble for Forests
Tim Brodribb has been measuring all the different ways global warming kills trees for the past 20 years. With a microphone, he says, you can hear them take their last labored breaths. During blistering heat waves and droughts, air bubbles invade their delicate, watery veins, cracking them open with an audible pop. And special cameras can film the moment their drying leaves split open in a lightning bolt pattern, disrupting photosynthesis. "We really need to be able to hear these poor trees scream. These are living things that are suffering. We need to listen to them," said Brodrib... more »
The Engine Room Of Feminist Work Amid A Global Pandemic
There have been webinars (so.many.webinars), twitter threads, illustrations, press releases and policy recommendations, and online house parties. Analysis pieces cover everything from the gendered impacts of COVID-19 to how to work remotely to the role of neoliberal capitalism. Most strikingly, feminists have mobilized on a massive scale to generate our own autonomous resources for daily acts of solidarity and survival and to respond politically, collectively, and powerfully to this moment. Many of these actions are coming from within communities and movements in some of the hard... more »
Out Of The Coronavirus Tragedy May Come Hope Of A More Just Society
The global loss of life and disruption to our daily lives resulting from the coronavirus pandemic is unprecedented in living memory. We have learned through tragedy that we have a shared, globalised vulnerability common to all humanity. We are learning how we, as a matter of urgency, must make changes to improve resilience in a range of essential areas: employment, healthcare, housing. We have been forced to recognise our dependence on our public-sector frontline workers, and the state’s broader role in mitigating this crisis and saving lives. The coronavirus has magnified the sca... more »
When This War Is Over, Many Of Us Will Leave Medicine
I couldn’t see. My face shield was blurred by a streaky haze. I tilted my neck back and forth in an effort to peer beyond it, beneath it, through it, whatever might work. Was it condensation? I started to raise my hands to my face to wipe it away before I remembered and yanked them back down: I cannot touch my face, can’t ever touch my face — neither inside this room nor outside it. As I stood at the head of the patient’s bed in ER Room 3, her nurse, Kate, secured a mask over the patient’s face to deliver additional oxygen. I checked to ensure the oxygen was cranked up to the maxi... more »
