This is the conflict that began when the Then Empire, Great Britain, ceded the little nation of Palestine over to the Khazarian Jews who are originally from an area in Asia now known as Bulgaria. "Repealing" Roe v. Wade

Mark Tushnet at Balkinization - 13 hours ago
A non-trivial number of comments on the Supreme Court going forward refer to the possibility of "repealing" *Roe v. Wade*. The term isn't universal, of course; there are a lot of references to "overturning" or "overruling" *Roe*. But the use of the term "repeal" does suggest that the idea that the Supreme Court is like a legislature whose enactments can be repealed (remember "Repeal and Replace"?) has some significant cultural purchase -- and it's a good thing it does.

Martin Heidegger, in *Being and Time* (Chapter 2: “The Double Task in Working Out the Question of Being: The Method of the Investigation and its Outline”), suggests that Immanuel Kant’s view of the connection between being and time is influenced by the works of Descartes and Aristotle. Brett Kavanaugh's Cliches

Mark Graber at Balkinization - 16 hours ago
Donald Trump and Brett Kavanaugh offered the American people two clichés when describing how Supreme Court justices should decide cases. The first is that they must interpret the Constitution as written. The second is that they should use common sense. One problem is that in many important cases the two conflict. The more serious problem is that when the two conflict, Kavanaugh always selects the option that promotes Republican policies and politics. The Constitution as written belies Kavanaugh’s claims that sitting (Republican) presidents cannot be indicted. No provision in t... more »

This is the kind of time-wasting calculation I love doing, but I will leave it as an exercise for one of you. Look up the mass of a proton in grams. A water molecule has essentially the mass of 18 protons (hydrogen=1, oxygen=8 protons + 8 neutrons; remember, this is an order of magnitude calculation). A cubic centimeter of water has (by definition) a mass of one gram. Divide for the number of water molecules in a cubic centimeter of water. How many cubic centimeters in the ocean... more »

*"The Peace of Wild Things"* "When despair for the world grows in me and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be, I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free..." - Wendell Berry
