Yulia Skripal Released from Hospital....Taken to "Secure Location" by UK Government
*"Secure Location" * Following up on my post of a few days ago...wherein I speculated that "*We'll likely never see Yulia or her father Sergei Skripal alive again"* and true to the form of the M-15ossad-controlled UK "government", today it is reported in the main$tream newz that Yulia has been released from hospital. The Brit government simply declares that it has "taken Yulia Skripal to a* secure location*." Still *no recent photos of Yulia are produced by the M$M as supporting proof that she is well and at liberty*. No. We must take it on the word of the UK government--the sa... more »

Michael Cohen, Attorney-Client Privilege and the Crime-Fraud Exception
Photo: Wikimedia/Bin im Garten The world is awash in “hot takes” on the news that President Trump’s personal attorney, Michael Cohen, is under criminal investigation. On Monday, the FBI executed a search warrant at his home, his office and a hotel room that he rented. Claims are already resonating that the search violated Trump’s attorney-client privilege and reflect more excess from Special Counsel Robert Mueller. (Trump himself called the search a “disgrace” and again threatened to fire Mueller.) I want to take a step back and offer a few more thoughts that, perhaps, shed a litt... more »

Kant: On the Relationship Between Beauty and Utility
In *Values of Beauty: Historical Essays in Aesthetics*, (Chapter 4, “Beauty and Utility in Eighteenth-Century Aesthetics"), Paul Guyer offers an interesting account of the eighteenth-century debate on *beauty* and *utility* between the British philosophers Shaftsbury, Hume, Hutcheson and Burke. But the focus of Guyer’s essay is on the important contributions that Immanuel Kant made to that debate at a later stage. Guyer points out that in his *Critique of the Power of Judgement*, Kant holds that the judgement of beauty is independent from any judgement of utility. But Kant also rec... more »

Mysterious Honey Discovered That Kills All Bacteria Scientists Throw At It
The health benefits of raw, unprocessed honey are well known, but in Australia, scientists recently made a startling discovery – that one particular, obscure type of honey is capable of killing just about everything scientists throw at it, including some of the worst bacteria known to man. The findings were published in the European Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (June 2009 edition), and could hold special significance at a time when many of the world’s top antibiotics are failing, especially against resistant “superbugs.” The honey in question is known a... more »

How America's Stealth Destroyer Could Sink Russia or China's Navy in Battle
*David Axe* *Security, * A transformation is happenning. *The Zumwalts’ stealth qualities could be an asset. The destroyers’ smooth, angular shapes help to minimize their radar signatures, potentially helping them to get closer to enemy forces than a non-stealthy ship could do. But to remain elusive, the Zumwalts must sail alone — the presence of a conventional warship in the same battle group could act as a sort of beacon. And that poses a difficult question. To save money, the Navy removed high-end air-defense systems from the Zumwalts. Lacking the Aegis radar system and Stan... more »

Gun Shop Owner Foils Possible Would-be Mass Shooter
[image: gun-shop-owner-foils-possible-would-be-mass-shooter] Unlike the politically correct Florida authorities who did nothing to stop the mentally deranged Parkland killer despite numerous warnings, New York gun shop owner John Laubscher acted when a prospective firearm buyer made, as he put it, the hair “stand up on the back of his neck.”

*British Government cools energy efficiency ambition* The Government’s effort to bring down the cost of energy by upgrading Britain’s draughtiest homes is under attack after it emerged that cuts to the scheme mean it would take 400 years to complete. Under new plans ministers intend to slash the pace at which the least efficient households will receive insulation upgrades. Better heat conservation can knock hundreds of pounds off a year of electricity and gas bills. The blow to energy efficiency has raised eyebrows among energy bosses who are braced for Government plans to interv... more »
The Implications of Waving a False Flag or How America Marched to War
As word of an alleged gas attack in the Syrian town of Douma on April 7, 2018 spread through the mainstream media, America's "shoot from the hip" president had this and this "to say": Notice how Mr. Trump seems to have significantly changed his viewpoint on Russia's president, his former best pal? The Trump Russia-blaming tweet was followed by this: So, we pretty much know who Donald Trump is blaming for the gas attack; Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin. *A land of tension* So here I am in the News Lens today writing on how media workers and commentators exploit China-driven cross-strait tensions to drive clicks... The media does this because tension-inflating prose sells, while tension-deflating facts do not. Facts, alas, demonstrate to the reader that events are complex and not readily accessible, might even be a bit dull, and that ... more »

After a weather postponement, the US auto industry's woes deepen
In July last year, I pointed out that the US vehicle manufacturing industry was in serious trouble. In a second post the same day, I provided pictures of vehicles that could not be sold, stored in hurriedly rented parking lots all over the country. The hurricanes that struck the US during the second half of last year provided an unexpected breathing space for the auto industry, with over 600,000 vehicles damaged or destroyed. Many had to be replaced. This absorbed some of the industry's overproduction stockpile, and staved off short-term problems. However, the "weather bump" is... more »

"All human lives are so profoundly and intricately entwined- those dead, those living, those generations yet to come that the fate of all is the fate of each, and the hope of humanity rests in every heart and in every pair of hands. Therefore, after every failure, we are obliged to strive again for success, and when faced with the end of one thing, we must build something new and better in the ashes, just as from pain and grief, we must weave hope, for each of us is a thread critical to the strength to the very survival of the human tapestry.
