Debates about whether Whites in academia — professors or students — are entitled to sling and fling the N-word with abandon, be it in a song, a “lesson” or some sort of speculative “thought experiment” (as seems to be the case with the most recent incident) are not a bug, but a feature of a society structured by racial dominance, oppression and exploitation.

They were lining the excavation with huge hollow, steel tubes, in an effort to defeat the alleged booby traps that had confounded treasure hunters for two centuries plus. That worked just fine and they drilled down to bedrock and said they couldn’t drill any deeper. They found no treasure. They found no real sign of treasure. Rather than concluding that ther... more »

Russia's Su-57 Stealth Fighter in Syria: “This Is Testing in Actual War"
*Dave Majumdar* *Security, * The most likely reason for the Russian deployment is to refine the Su-57 design for production and to gain as much operational wartime experience as possible. Russia appears to have deployed two prototype Sukhoi Su-57 PAK-FA fighters to its Khmemeim airbase in Syria. While the reports of the stealth fighters arriving in Syria are unconfirmed, it would be highly unusual to deploy a developmental asset into a combat zone before it is ready for war. The Poet: Fernando Pessoa, “Since We Do Nothing”
*“Since We Do Nothing”* “Since we do nothing in this confused world That lasts or that, lasting, is of any worth, And even what’s useful for us we lose So soon, with our own lives, Let us prefer the pleasure of the moment To an absurd concern with the future, Whose only certainty is the harm we suffer now To pay for its prosperity. Tomorrow doesn’t exist. This moment Alone is mine, and I am only who Exists in this instant, which might be the last Of the self I pretend to be.” - Fernando Pessoa
First thoughts on the Herald paywall
The *Herald* announces: *NZME, owner of the 'New Zealand Herald', plans to put up a paywall around premium journalism on its website, says chief executive Michael Boggs.* Based on the Herald's increasing tabloidisation, that would be a laughably small amount of content. If any. The phrase 'the *Herald*'s premium journalism' has become virtually on oxymoron. And only a moron would *pay* to have to have the *Herald*'s reporters pass on their gossip or paid advertising as news. And since the Herald's rare excursions into quality are generally lifted wholesale from the world's other,... more »

. . . well, look what's just turned up! The centerpiece of a New Yorker story on Karen McDougal, who says she had an affair with Donald Trump, is scribbled notes kept by the former Playboy playmate. These notes, obtained by journalist Ronan Farrow, are presented as her personal reflections on the relationship –“later memorialized in an eight-page, handwritten document provided to the New Yorker.” Readers could easily get the impression, as many journalists have, that McDougal wrote these notes during what she describes as a consensual relationship that began in 2006. It's a dripping world out there
Tuesday's "blue norther", as they call such weather events in northern Texas, left a thick layer of frozen sleet on the ground, and all over local roads. Driving was very tricky for a while, and most of us stayed firmly at home. Today, things are warming up (well, to freezing point at least, and hopefully a few degrees above that by this afternoon). Melting ice is dripping from the eaves of the roof, and the road outside is slush rather than ice. Hopefully driving will be back to normal by tomorrow. I have to go out later, but I'm hoping to wait until most of the slush has been... more »
Feb. 22: The biggest news story ever?
This could be it. But as I write this on Feb. 21, the irving press hasn't noticed it. Indeed, it hasn't been noticing for weeks as this story has been breaking. (It's hard to fit in when a paper has only one and a half pages of Canada and World News.) www.haaretz.com/opinion/this-is-the-man-who-will-lead-us-to-war-1.5841524 Israeli police have caught prime minister Netanyahu and his wife in a huge corruption scandal. Now, it's all about to come tumbling down as one of Nethanyahu's chief supporters is ready to tell the truth (to save his own skin). And why is it important to know a... more »
HOW TO IMPLY THAT MASS SHOOTINGS ARE FALSE FLAGS WITHOUT SAYING "CRISIS ACTOR" EVEN ONCE
What's going on in this tweet from the NRA's video unit? "The mainstream media love mass shootings. I'm going to say it again; the mainstream media love mass shootings…and you, the #MSM, just put out the casting call for the next mass shooter." @MrColionNoir #NRA pic.twitter.com/1XtqVoA23l — NRATV (@NRATV) February 22, 2018 Here's a little more detail on the video from Vox's German Lopez: “No one on this planet benefits more from mass shootings and motivates more people to become mass shooters than our mainstream media,” Colion Noir, a gun rights activist, declared in a video publ... more »
"Spot The Sentence That Dooms Pension Funds (Don't Worry, We Highlighted It)”
*"Spot The Sentence That Dooms Pension Funds* * (Don't Worry, We Highlighted It *)”* by John Rubino "The “pension crisis” is one of those things - like electric cars and nuclear fusion - that’s definitely coming but never seems to actually arrive. However, for pension funds the reason a crisis hasn’t yet happened is also the reason that it will happen, and soon: *The Risk Pension Funds Can’t Escape: *(Wall Street Journal) – Public pension funds that lost hundreds of billions during the last financial crisis still face significant risk from one basic investment: stocks. That vulnera... more »

BWorld 186, Land use bill and Asian urbanization
* This is my column in BusinessWorld last February 8, 2018. Urbanization, like technological innovation and mass production of mobile phones and other gadgets, is among the important reasons why people’s lives have become more comfortable. Many necessities like schools and work offices, supermarkets and groceries, hospitals and clinics, are nearby. People no longer need travel for hours or even days just to get to the nearest health facility. Vertical structures like residential and office condominiums immediately free up huge tracts of land for other purposes such as public parks,... more »
North Korea Sends Controversial General To Attend The Closing Olympic Ceremonies
Heading south. (Reuters/Jung Yeon-je/Pool) *Qaurtz*:* North Korea is sending the suspected mastermind of deadly attacks on the South to the Olympics* Having already dispatched leader Kim Jong-un’s sister to the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics, North Korea is sending another big gun to mark the closing of the games. South Korean officials said today (Feb. 22) that 72-year-old general Kim Yong-chol, a vice chairman of the central committee of North Korea’s Workers’ Party of Korea, will lead an eight-member delegation to Pyeongchang for a three-day visit on Sunday (Feb. 25). ... more »
Turkey Wants Talks To Avoid Clashes With The Syrian Army
*Middle East Monitor:* *Stakes rise in Turkey’s Afrin assault as pro-Assad militia arrive * Turkey warned on Wednesday that pro-Damascus forces would face “serious consequences” for entering Syria’s Afrin region to help Kurdish fighters repel a Turkish offensive, Reuters reports. Their arrival raises the spectre of wider escalation on Syria’s northern battlefront, which includes the Syrian army, allied Iran-linked militias, Kurdish forces, rebels, Turkish troops, and Russian and American forces. The Syrian Kurdish YPG militia said Turkish planes bombed a town in Afrin and fightin... more »
CPAC, School Shootings, and Fake News...
* the world is going mad.* I'm not going to spend my entire day worrying about the dust up at CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) over Jim Hoft at *Gateway Pundit* being called a Nazi and being *kicked off a panel on free speech.* Think about that for a moment. Pamala Geller, who organized the panel, had quite a bit to say about the issue: Pamela Geller, Breitbart: CPAC Joins the Leftist Social Media Giants in Censoring Conservatives Many times in the past I've brought up the fact that Gateway Pundit is not too careful about what it prints. And if it does print someth... more »
