Concerning that Peter Zeihan video about Russia and Ukraine...
... that I posted last week: it was an hour long, so I know many readers didn't have the time to watch it. Thanks to CDR Salamander, we find a shortened, 12-minute video from Mr. Zeihan, looking at the Ukraine war and its implications for Russia, today and in the future. It distills the essence of last week's video into a compact discussion, making it more accessible. I *highly* recommend watching it, even if you watched last week's longer video. There's some additional material in this one that makes it very interesting - for example, current Russian emigration patterns si... read more

A NEW WORLD ORDER IS ALREADY HERE
By R.K.Raghavan and Ajay Goyal, Mumbai* @bears_with We now have a first-class international crisis on hand — a man-made crisis of the kind that comes once in millennia and causes empires to fall. We may not, as some observers put it, be witnessing a world war. But we are certainly braving a “war of the world”. […] read more
Poor sleep linked to sustained increases in dangerous visceral fat
We are now seeing more data linking sleep habits to fat distribution. Here we have the pathways used. We know that our culture is badly distorted in regards to sleep practise. this is the result of indoor lighting changing out our traditional sleep patterns. It is too easy to stay up late or later and your sleep shifts. I do not know what the solution should be, but we all make do. This is not good enough.. *Poor sleep linked to sustained increases in dangerous visceral fat* *By Nick Lavars* *March 29, 2022* https://newatlas.com/health-wellbeing/poor-sleep-sustained-increa... read more
Food processing wastewater may find use as farmed seaweed fertilizer
This appears to be sound and generally safe as well. Augmenting the production of edible seaweeds is an excellent application that nicely bypasses problems with sea based culture. More of this will steadily trasnsform food processing itself as those byproducts become useful and even valuable. we are still up against multistaged process systems which can be fussy. Yet we have solved those before.. *Food processing wastewater may find use as farmed seaweed fertilizer* *By Ben Coxworth* *March 29, 2022* *The study used "process water" from four sources as fertilizer for four... read more
'Invisible' Creature Encountered in Allegheny National Forest, Pennsylvania
Reports are drifting in regarding instances in which invisibility is demoed. We certainly have it confirmed hugely as a skill used by both the Sasquatch and the Giant Sloth. These are the usual suspects, but mostly the Sloth. In some cases the creature makes grass move while it is moving and even lays tracks. Other cases, i do suspect that they also shift out of TIME to avoid observation. You are unable to look back in TIME to see what is happening. In this case the witness could not have done better. We get little sense of size except it may well have been small. Recall we... read more
Tiny machines in bacteria could help make new medicines
We are actually getting to this level of capability. We can now become proactive in manufacturing biochemicals. This is a long way from imagining machine as a complex of gears. Again biological research continues to grow year after year. Back in the sixties our knowledge base had a couple of centuries of species and biome descriptions accumulated, but could not explain the operation of a cell wall. Rather fundamental. fifty years on we can now imagine biological tools and machines. The discipline itself has grown globally as well. This is knowledge we all want to have ... read more

* What Educating Our Kids Looks Like After COVID-19* Parents have spent the last two years dealing with lawmakers’ and school officials’ indecisions about school reopenings, a nightmare for many. Public officials have constantly alternated between remote and in-person learning, masking and unmasking, social distancing and not. Now, many families are rejoicing as they see states lift their remaining COVID-19 restrictions. Getting their children caught up on two years’ worth of learning will be the only concern when they attempt to have a normal educational experience once again. O... read more

Leor Sapir on transgender swimmer Lia Thomas: The Human Rights Campaign warns that “contrasting transgender people with ‘real’ or ‘biological’ men and women is a false comparison” that “can contribute to the inaccurate perception that transgender people are being deceptive or less than equal, when, in fact, they are being authentic and courageous.” This is a strawman… Continue reading → read more

Joe Biden’s Democracy Gaffe
It does not pay to be too moralistic in politics. Self-elevation can lead to tripping up. Sermonising even as your stable needs cleaning can enfeeble the argument. Don’t Let Biden Hijack Global Magnitsky Act For Left-Wing Social Agendas
By Grace Melton ~ Congress is considering several bills that would warp how the U.S. applies sanctions—through the Global Magnitsky Act—against foreigners who violate human rights.
