Maze-like material keeps even the smallest insects from reaching crops
This is promising. An actual barrier able to exclude insects particularly applies to young crops and avoids stunting. It will still demand imagination to properly use out in hte field. I do think that we do need to make far better use of cold frames for all forms of bed planting and using an insect shield is sensible when the scale is eight feet long and a yard wide with a good foot lifter on the long edges. We may even be able to almost print out a rigid frame that can then be glued to the skin. We have long used cold frames which were often as not repurposed storm windows ... read more
