THEY CALL IT NEGATIVE PARTISANSHIP FOR A REASON
I want to be reassured by this study, which FiveThirtyEight told us about yesterday, but I don't think it offers much comfort. *Trump May Be Even More Unpopular Than His Approval Rating Shows* ... does the standard presidential approval question actually capture what voters think of Trump’s job performance? There are several reasons it might not tell the full story. ... we ... have worked to develop a hopefully more nuanced approach to measuring presidential approval, where we ask respondents how favorably they feel toward Trump *relative* to other notable Republicans. ... responde... more »
"How It Really Is"
"The fact that these foolish people are often stubborn must not blind us to the fact that they are not independent. In conversation with them, one virtually feels that one is dealing not at all with them as a person, but with slogans, catchwords, and the like that have taken possession of them. They are under a spell, blinded, misused, and abused in their very being. Having thus become a mindless tool, the foolish person will also be capable of any evil and at the same time incapable of seeing that it is evil. This is where the danger of diabolical misuse lurks, for it is this that ... more »

It is possible, that if Russia wants carriers if may need to purchase them from another country- maybe China? Why Did This California Farmer End Up in Court For Growing Wheat?
*Kevin Mooney* *Politics, Americas* [image: A view shows ears of wheat in a field owned by the] The Army Corps of Engineers came after him. *Key Point:* What’s particularly alarming to LaPant and other farmers familiar with his case is that in their view the Corps saw fit to modify the Clean Water Act without congressional approval. That’s mostly because the federal law includes a clear exemption for “normal” farming activities. But it’s also because the government officials L... more »
Behind America's Plan To Buy 21 Russian MiG-29 Jet Fighters

Why does Planned Parenthood need taxpayer dollars when it's spending $45 million to elect Democrats
We know now why Democrats are so hell bent on sending around a half a billion dollars of your money each year to abortion giant Planned Parenthood; PP is going to spend around $45 million in 2020 to help elect Democrats. Little Women the movies
My friend Bev and I took a break from our busy lives and took in a movie yesterday, *Little Women* (2019). We both enjoyed it, but wondered about the actor cast as Laurie, Timothée Hal Chalamet. Impeachment is a badge of honor for Trump
According to the Constitution a President is only to be impeached if he commits a crime: *The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.* Yet the Democrat articles of impeachment against Trump mention no crimes. The Kantian Bridge Between the Enlightenment and Romanticism
Immanuel Kant is a transitional figure between the Enlightenment and German Romanticism. With his philosophy, he completed the Enlightenment, but he also served as an inspiration for the German Romantics, who undermined the Enlightenment by rejecting the rationalism and scientism of the Enlightenment philosophers. In his *Critique of Pure Reason*, Kant is aiming to investigate why reason, which is a success in science and mathematics, has brought skepticism and disagreements on the questions of metaphysics, religion, and ethics. He notes that reason is successful in science and math... more »

Thorne Smith was an American satirical author who flourished in the first half of last century. Two of his books were made into successful Hollywood films, and his acerbic humor and biting wit made him a best-seller. Many of his books are still in print. One of my favorites among his novels is "The Night Life of the Gods". Very briefly, Smith's protagonist, Hunter Hawk, and his light o' love, Megaera, bring to life a number of statues of the Greek and Roman gods in a New York museum. They then set about introducing the now-living gods to modern city life. The results are hys... more »
