*"Kill and Kill and Kill"* by Saree Makdisi "Two spectacles unfolded in Palestine last Monday. In Gaza, Israeli army snipers shot and killed 60 Palestinians - including six children - and injured almost three thousand others amid scenes of smoke, fire, teargas, dust, agony and blood. At exactly the same time, to the tinkling of champagne glasses at a glittering reception barely fifty miles away in Jerusalem, Jared Kushner and an elegant Ivanka Trump oversaw the opening of Donald Trump’s new embassy there. Making Sense of Recent Events

*North Korea* On 25 May, in response to the US letter canceling the 12 June summit, the *Korean Central News Agency*, (KCNA) published in English a statement by North Korean First Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kye Gwan. It's interesting on how fast the Norks put out their response. My personal sense is that Kim Jong Un (Little Rocket Man/Dear Leader) wanted the meeting and his minions screwed it up by thinking that they could manipulate US interest in a meeting for "free stuff". President Trump said, 'no'. “The inglorious situation today is a vivid expression of the severity of the pre... more »

Yesterday, NRATV posted a YouTube video in which one of its spokestrolls, Colion Noir, accused news organizations of encouraging school shootings. Noir appeared to advocate censorship of the media. Can anyone tell me the last time a mass school shooter left a manifesto, a comment on social media, or a video where they said they were inspired to commit their atrocity ... by a firearm. Name one. I'm sure you can't and neither can I. Because as much as the media love to pivot the conversation after a mass school shooting to gun control, the pen is still mightier than the sword. Her party’s platform, with its commitment to pharmacare, child care and denticare was similar to that of Wynne. But Horwath herself was not a member of the discredited governing party. GDPR Derogations, ePrivacy, and the Evolving European Privacy Landscape

The GDPR aims to harmonize data-protection standards for digital personal data across Europe. This is, in part, because the GDPR also permits member states to enact derogations, or supplemental legislation modifying provisions of the GDPR in accordance with national needs.
