Drugs War 8, Duterte government as drug fighter, or facilitator?
While some 8,000 to 14,000 suspected drug users and small-time drug pushers have been murdered over the on-going drugs war of the Duterte government, there was not a single "big fish" drug lord and drug pusher who has been arrested. Well, two municipal Mayors and their friends, family members have been massacred over the past few months, suspected of being drug pushers in their areas. But they are not considered as "big fish" enough. The P6.4 billion worth of shabu that went through the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and was later raided at a warehouse in Valenzuela, not a single big pers... more »
BWorld 154, Kuala Lumpur, Incheon, JFK airports and lessons for the Philippines
* This is my article in BusinessWorld last September 27, 2017. “Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is the worst airport in the world” is a cliché that we often hear and read. Desperate dog filmed diving into water in a bid to save drowning puppy
A dog was filmed courageously pulling her drowning puppy to safety after it slipped into a deep puddle. The young animal had fallen into the water, without realising that the puddle was actually a hole. In the clip, a man is seen shovelling water from the ditch in a bucket, whilst the puppy’s mum digs in an attempt to widen the hole. She eventually dives into the gap herself, and fully disappears beneath the water. Towards the end of the clip the dog is seen pulling a lifeless puppy onto the mud. What prevents Russia from having an economy akin to modern China?
This is a really good question and the answer is well worth reading. It really does take time for cultures to adapt to both modernism and to free market activity. It further explains similar conditions in Latin America. It is also true that they are cognizant of their flaws and are striving to overcome them. Thus it is only a matter of time and perhaps joining the EU ASAP. That would permit proper suppression of criminal elements and a massive investment in productive assets. Most important is that the worst is well behind them now. A twenty year old from 1990 is now a forty... more »
BBC response to Jimmy Savile's crimes criticised by Justin Welby per BBC News
This BBC report http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-41449299 is rather protective of the BBC record re Jimmy Savile's crimes. The report starts thus: 'The Archbishop of Canterbury has criticised the way the BBC handled sexual abuse by Jimmy Savile. The Most Rev Justin Welby said the BBC had not shown the same integrity over accusations of child abuse that the Catholic and Anglican churches had. He was reflecting on changes to society over the past 60 years, in an interview for BBC Radio 4's Today programme. The BBC said it did not recognise the accusation, and had acted transparently ov... more »

*"Welcome To The Hunger Games: Trump’s Tax Plan * *Is Going To Mean A Battle Royale Among D.C. Lobbyists”* by Michael Snyder "Are you ready for mass chaos in Washington? There are lobbyists for just about every cause that you can possibly imagine, and they are always working hard to influence members of Congress on their particular issues. But when you are talking about a major tax reform bill, that is something that virtually every single lobbyist in the entire city will want to be involved in. Popcorn Time and Chill: Bear kicks its feet up in northern Manitoba garbage dump
You don't see that very often. He's just posing, just like a person," Stantic said. Mandy Stantic said she was working as a nurse in the northern Manitoba community of Lac Brochet last spring when she snapped several pictures of a black bear sitting cozily on a discarded sofa. As people do in many rural and northern Manitoba communities, the Stantics took their daughter for a "northern safari" to the dump to watch the bears. But this trip was different. "Take a picture!" was her first thought after seeing one of the bears making itself comfortable on the couch. "You don't see that... more »

dream - five brain implants - increasing level of pain
don't even bother asking me a) why I blog about this stuff or b) what I think it all might mean... I have no idea. Suffice to say, at 5:00 this morning I woke up. I had been dreaming. I forced myself to wake up. It was already a very strange dream about implants. Straight metal needle inserted liberally into the right carotid, but then it 'clunked' as it found a spot somewhere up the complex canal of the artery. Was this inside the brain? Had it self-guided and located? The doctor was very comforting, explaining how one might feel a little discomfort. And he was right. But it was b... more »

Why Is Qatar Building a Massive Air Force?
*Zachary Keck* *Security, Middle East* Any idea? The tiny Gulf nation of Qatar has launched a massive buildup of air power for an unclear purpose. The latest development in this saga came in September, when British Defense Secretary of Defense Michael Fallon and Qatari Defense Secretary Khalid bin Mohammed al Attiyah signed a Letter of Intent for Doha to purchase twenty-four Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft from London. That came on the heels of Qatar announcing a deal to purchase thirty-six Boeing F-15 Qatar Advanced-variant Eagles from the United States for a reported $12 billion.... more »

The F-15K Slam Eagle: How South Korea Would Strike North Korea in a War

On September 13, 2017 the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) test-fired a Taurus cruise missile in response to a North Korean ballistic missile test. In this video, you can see as an F-15K launch the boxy weapon, which plunges straight through the roof of a practice target, penetrating into the ground below before its main warhead detonates. Why Is The DCCC Greasing The Way For Gil Cisneros To Buy A Congressional District He Doesn't Live In?
Lottery winner and "ex"-Republican Gil Cisneros wants more than just his $266 million lottery winnings and his $10 million mansion in tony Newport Coast. He wants the word "Congressman" in front of his name. *Fancy*! But his bought-and-paid-for "friends" at the DCCC told him they already have a candidate in his district (CA-48) and directed him to run in a completely unrelated district-- a solid middle and working class district (CA-39)-- that has no private beaches for $10 million mansions. DOJ seeking information concerning anti-Trump Facebook users.
Courtesy of Law Newz: *The ACLU-DC is trying to stop three search warrants that’d let the Department of Justice snoop around protesters’ Facebook accounts over Inauguration Day protests. They filed in D.C. Superior Court on Thursday, saying the government’s demands violate the Fourth Amendment because they are so broad, and threatening First Amendment speech. These warrants ask for too much information not directly relevant to the federal probe, argues the ACLU. This includes information on the plaintiffs’ friends, associates, and the approximately 6000 individuals who just “like... more »
