Yesterday was California Admission Day. We became a state on September 9, 1850, the U.S. having forced Mexico to give up what is now the state after the Mexican-American War (1848). Looking back now, I think the school I had in mind was Yeshiva of Flatbush, kind of in my neighborhood. I lived on Avenue P and it was on Avenue J. The world of 2024 is nothing like I imagine it will be not so far in our future, but in the movie, it is 64 years in their future (and, technically 64 years in the future for those who made the movie). According to their his...more »
