Founder of Czechoslovakia was a royal bastard of the last major Austrian emperor
*The evidence backing the yummy theory seems very strong to me* I have previously heard about the theory but only yesterday, I was reading the evidence systematically, thinking about the chronology, and the theory looks persuasive to me. OK, it's all about these two men. The right one is Francis Joseph I of Austria, an Austrian emperor. He was born in August 1830 and his reign lasted almost 68 years, from December 1848 to November 1916 (his death). For the last two years of the war, Austria-Hungary was ruled by Charles I of Austria. Days After Turku Killings, Finns Admit They Have Lost Track of 5,300 Asylum Seekers - Breitbart
Two interesting aspects to the killing in Turku, Finland. If you wondered why the BBC coverage of this attack was so muted, it's because it was by a Muslim asylum seeker, now that's really inconvenient to the BBC pro immigration narrative. Also ISIS warned/boasted that they would use the wave of illegal immigration from mainly Muslim countries to hide their terrorist fighters within. What notice did Western governments take? It appears very little as this from Breitbart reveals: 'Finnish Interior Minister Paula Risikko confessed that around 5,300 migrants claiming asylum in the... more »

"Killing Chickens"
*"Killing Chickens"* by The Zman “When you strike at a king, you must kill him” is a famous expression by Ralph Waldo Emerson. We’re all familiar with it and its meaning. When you challenge authority, you better win, as authority cannot tolerate challenges. It’s why the people in charge are so ruthless in dealing with challenges to their power. They instinctively know that to do otherwise means being displaced. In all probability, they got to where they are by subverting or knocking off their predecessor. That’s what we see going on with the Trump administration. The rules of the ... more »

We had about 35 folks there with us today outside the airshow for our protest. *A*rthur Eddington and others tried numerous times to test Einstein's general theory of relativity by photographing the stars which appear in the sky next to the eclipsed sun. Einstein's theory predicted a particular change in their apparent position. To the ability of anyone to measure this effect, all observations have been in accord with Einstein's theory. My own work on and interest in theories of everything, both my own, and others, has as a fundamental assumption that Einsteins theory is exactly correct. It probably is, however, no one gets a pass. Iranians and Their iPhones, and the Futility of Sanctions
*Paul R. Pillar* *Iran Sanctions, Middle East* U.S.-imposed economic sanctions often have been misdirected and counterproductive, but a new sanctions-related development involving Iran is especially illustrative. First, some background. Iran has been a favorite target of American politicians who use sanctions as a vehicle for expressing disapproval for a regime, with little apparent thought about the actual effects of the sanctions. Since the entering into force of the nuclear agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which in the eyes of most governments suc... more »
Quote of the Day: On the short-term vision of so-called poverty campaigners
"*'Hone Harawira and Marama Fox say that the cost of their number one policies [respectively: feeding kids and no GST on primary produce] doesn’t matter, that it should just be done.' * "Enduring, entrenched poverty and the plight of our most needy? Look to the short term lack of vision of successive spokespeople on their behalf. Where’s the reality checking? What about the fact that vouchers, instant fish fingers and food bank handouts are not a patch on fishing lessons, rods, nets, the securing of a spot on the river, community vege gardens, fiscal, numerical, language upsk... more »
Transparency critical to getting science, regulations right
CFACT science and policy advisor H. Sterling Burnett of the Heartland Institute reports that the EPA (and other federal agencies) skew the real cost-benefit numbers in promoting massive regulations. One example: While the Obama Clean Power Plan might have saved 21,000 lives (as the EPA claimed), the rules would also also resulted in from 102,500 to 164,000 early deaths. The HONEST Act hopes to correct these discrepancies.

Trump and the War Party: RPI's Daniel McAdams on Mises Weekends
Ron Paul Institute for Peace And Prosperity - 12 hours ago
The costs of our wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria—human and economic—keep piling up. How do such deeply unpopular wars go on so long? Why do sensible notions of peace and non-intervention fail to gain a foothold in Congress or the White House? How does the War Party in DC plays both sides? And, how do they silence anti-war voices like Tulsi Gabbard? This is a no-holds-barred discussion of the grim realities behind US foreign policy. *Reprinted with permission from the Mises Institute.*

"A Message From The Hopi Elders"
*"A Message From The Hopi Elders"* "This could be a good time! There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart, and they will suffer greatly. Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water. See who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally. Least of all, ourselves. For the moment... more »

Here is an excerpt adapted from her book: 'Emotional vampires are lurking everywhere and wear many different disguises - from needy relatives to workplace bullies. Whether they do so intentionally or not, these people can make us feel overwhelmed, depressed, defensive, angry, and wiped out. Without the self-defense strategies to fend them off,... more »
