NASA Say Western Civilization Is About To Collapse
A NASA-funded study claims that Western civilization is on the brink of a massive Roman Empire-style collapse due to the “economic stratification of society into Elites and Masses.” Societies throughout history that have allowed this stratification to occur have always been destroyed, the study finds. “Two important features seem to appear across societies that have collapsed,” reads the study. “The stretching of resources due to the strain placed on the ecological carrying capacity and the economic stratification of society into Elites and Masses.” In unequal societies, researchers ... more »
Which State Is More Likely To Go For Hillary-- Arizona Or Missouri?
Yesterday on CNN's *State of the Union*, Republican Senator Jeff Flake was practically predicting that Hillary is going to win his state. His state is Arizona, which has only voted for one Democrat since Harry Truman in 1948. Flake said he doesn't plan to personally vote for either Hillary or Señor Trumpanzee. "I just know," he told Jake Tapper, "that I would like to vote for Donald Trump. It’s not comfortable to not support your nominee. From a Camera on the Map to the Virtual Tabletop
I submitted my first GitHub pull request for Roll20 this evening - an update to the Ghostbusters character sheet to support ghost characters (making this Ghostmaster's life easier). As I did so I reflected on how much remote tabletop RPGs have changed over the years. The first time I ever had to do remote gaming was after a player moved away but wanted to stay in the group. We wound up using a webcam that either pointed at us or at the physical tabletop and generally trusted him on his rolling. We tried a variety of early virtual tabletop tools but we found they suffered from prob... more »

*Fiscal Times*:* After Years of Bad News, the F-35 Proves a Double Threat from the Sky* The $1 trillion F-35 Joint Strike Fighter has taken plenty of lumps in recent years, as the DOD’s next-generation stealth fighter aircraft has experienced mind-boggling cost overruns and occasionally less than stellar test runs. Paul Craig Roberts explains the origins of Labor Day versus what it is today. Most Americans know little of the story ...including the blogger, who hopes you will also visit his preceeding post with an additional little known story of U.S. history.
------------------------------ *Labor Day * ------------------------------ June , 2016 | Original Here | If you wish to receive his newsletter via email go to Original and sign up at bottom. Paul Craig Roberts Labor Day—what is it? Perhaps not many Americans any longer know, so here is my explanation. In my time Labor Day was the unofficial end of summer, because school began after Labor Day. Today school begins almost a month before. When I was in school that would not have been possible, especially in the South. The schools were not air-conditioned. If school had started in Augu... more »
For any of those who think that Colin Kaepernick is some kind of a traitor and/or a disgrace to America, read the real truth below. It exposes a little known event in American history which took place when the young United States decided to grab Canada from the British Empire. It is something never mentioned in U.S. schools.
------------------------------ Colin Kaepernick Is Righter Than You Know: The National Anthem is a Celebration of Slavery *Before a preseason game* on Friday, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick refused to stand for the playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” When he explained why, he only spoke about the present: “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. … There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.” Twitter then went predictably nuts, with at least ... more »
Violence In Iraq, August 2016
Violence had been on a decline throughout 2016, even with the Islamic State’s spring offensive, but that was reversed in August. Attacks finally climbed upward driven by a renewed wave of bombings in Baghdad, counter attacks in Ninewa and Kirkuk, and a new wave of executions by the militants to maintain their control over the last remaining areas of their caliphate in Iraq. There were 574 incidents in August 2016. That was up from 530 the month before. At the same time it was the second lowest amount recorded so far in 2016, but did reverse the decline in attacks seen throughout ... more »

UK Soldiers Offered Shopping Vouchers To Recruit Friends Into Army
In a pathetic bid to boost numbers, British soldiers are being offered shopping vouchers for getting their mates to join the Army. Soldiers are being offered £100 in retail vouchers for referring a friend to enlist as a regular or reserve soldier. The New Meaning of Labor Day
Granted, the holiday set aside on the first Monday in September to honor American workers was always the weaker twin of the more radical May Day international celebrations. And it is also ironic, given that May Day itself was inspired by Chicago's Haymarket Massacre, in which agitators for the eight hour day, among other niceties. died for their progressive sins. Look around at most major news sites today and you will find nary a word about working people and labor rights and the employment picture. That is because the true meaning of Labor Day in the eyes of the corporate media is ... more »

Not a corrupt woman
It seems a bit late in the day to post this, but Andrew Marr’s Sunday morning conversation with Shami Chakrabarti seems to have made quite an impression. She has set off a load of speculation about a future post in the shadow cabinet. Why Did The Vatican Remove 14 Books From The Bible In 1684?
The Vatican church, or the Roman Catholic church, has a long and dark history of corruption and deception. From committing acts of outright genocide centuries ago against the Cathars, to sexually abusing children in more modern times, the church is certainly one of the most corrupt organizations in history. In the year 1611 the Bible was translated from Latin into English. Back then the Bible contained a total of 80 books and the last 14 books, which today have been excluded, made up the end of the Old Testament. President Barack Obama has quietly extended the “state of national emergency” in America for another year, citing the 9/11 attacks as justification. Fifteen years ago the Bush administration, in response to the September 11 attacks, declared a “war on terror” – giving the White House vast new powers that saw the diminishing of citizen’s constitutional rights. Breitbart.com reports: The Artibonite River, located in the town of Mirebalais, is the island of Hispaniola’s longest and most important river. Located in the heart of island, the contaminated water ran through other rivers, creating a stream of death through Haiti’s waterways. Cholera is a wate... more »
Former Kissinger CEO Says The World Is Run By 30 Families
A former CEO for Henry Kissinger has said that he believes just 30 families run the world, and that these families are the driving force behind the New World Order. David Rothkopf, author of ‘Superclass: The Global Power Elite and the World They Are Making,’ and former CEO of Kissinger Associates, says that 30 families and their 6,000 minions control the entire human race of six billion people. His findings mirror a study conducted by the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich which found that a mere 147 corporations (out of 40,000 studied) had real power and influence in the wo... more »
Venezuela Revolution: Thousands Take To Streets In Huge Uprising
Thousands of citizens have taken to the streets in Venezuela in a massive revolution against the elite. The uprising, dubbed the ‘taking of Caracas,’ aims to force the government for a recall referendum to remove President Nicolas Maduro from office. Greenleft.org.au reports: It came two days after thousands of government supporters also took to Caracas’ streets to show support for Maduro, who spoke to the crowd. “Do they want peace?” Maduro asked to the crowd at the August 30 march, accusing the opposition of planning violence and, potentially, a new attempted coup. “Do they want ...more »
Indian Farmers Debunk Myth That GMOs Are Needed To Feed The World
Indian farmers are breaking world records by growing copious amounts of organic rice and other staple foods without the help of GMOs – debunking the myth that genetically modified organisms are the only way to end world hunger. Farmers in India’s poorest state of Bihar are putting Monsanto’s billion-dollar herbicides to shame by producing some of their biggest yields ever – a staggering 22.4 tonnes of rice on just one hectare of land. Undergroundreporter.org reports: The crop yields being realized by Indian farmers are simply phenomenal and have been achieved by employing age-old, ... more »

Iran Release Video Of U.S. Navy Fleet Being Destroyed
Iran have released a provocative video depicting an entire American Navy fleet being destroyed by a group of Iranian citizens. The video, entitled ‘Steadfastness 2,’ has been condemned by the U.S. as nothing more than “ISIS-style propaganda”. It features what the Iranian response would be to a U.S. attack in the Persian gulf. The controversial video was produced by the Organization of Islamic Information, an office under direct supervision of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Breitbart.com reports: The video begins by showing a little boy walking into the ocean to grab a soccer b... more »
German Teachers’ Union Urges Total Boycott Of Israel
German teachers in the city of Oldenburg, Germany are calling for a complete boycott of Israel, which has sparked fierce criticism from the Israeli embassy. The teacher union published an article in its monthly newspaper calling for a complete boycott of the Jewish state. Jpost.com reports: It appears to be the first call to boycott Israel or Jews from a German organized labor group since the Holocaust. Critics accuse the union of stoking modern Jew-hatred. The anti-Israel activist and teacher Christoph Glanz outlined the goals of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement in his ... more »
Oil Pipeline Company Turns Dogs on Dakota Protesters
On September 3, the Dakota Access pipeline company attacked Native Americans with dogs and pepper spray as they protested against the $3.8 billion pipeline's construction. If completed, the pipeline would carry about 500,000 barrels of crude per day from North Dakota’s Bakken oilfield to Illinois. The project has faced months of resistance from the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and members of nearly 100 more tribes from across the U.S. and Canada. (Thanks to Jeff Kunz for the assistance.)
TV Watch: Working our way extremely circuitously toward "Inspector George Gently"
*DILBERT'S WALLY SORTS OUT THEOPTIMISTS AND THE PESSIMISTS* [*Click to enlarge.*] *by Ken* So here we are again in the Northeast having another Storm Watch Weekend, this time all mooshed together with Labor Day Weekend -- and never mind that today we've enjoyed an utterly lovely day as poor Hermine, the still steadily approaching storm, keeps dropping down on the charts, from hurricane to tropical storm to "post-tropical cyclone" -- a new one on me. What comes next? "*Ba-a-a-d, ba-a-a-d* storm"? And the anticipated mayhem has been both pushed back and similarly downgraded, now to... more »

“People are often unreasonable, Illogical, and self-centered; forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; be honest and frank anyway. "Willingness to Feel: Opening to Understanding"
*"Willingness to Feel: Opening to Understanding"* by Madisyn Taylor, The DailyOM "When we are resisting something based on a limited understanding, we must then open ourselves to willingness. There are times when we may find ourselves struggling or even fighting with our thoughts and emotions. We may feel that something must be done in a certain way or not at all, or there may be some other situation that feels absolutely black and white. But life is not this way—it’s the way we are looking at our experiences that is causing the turmoil within us. When we become aware that the stru...more »

Family trees of economics: Austrian v Heterodox
[image: FamilyTree] The other day I mentioned Richard Ebeling’s excellent introduction to Austrian economics, for which he produced the “family tree” (above) on which he’s been working for many years. *When I was a graduate student [says Peter Boettke, who appears on the tree] Don Lavoie had a cube on his desk as a gift from Ebeling that had 3 awesome photos of Mises and then 1 side an earlier version of this family tree.* What a great gift idea! Note to self … Anyway, there will always be debate about what should be included in such a tree. ( I reckon Mises’ two other stud... more »

"The Truth Is..."
"The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers." - M. Scott Peck
Eckhart Tolle, "Watching The Thinker"
*"Watching The Thinker"* by Eckhart Tolle "What exactly do you mean by “watching the thinker”? When someone goes to the doctor and says, “I hear a voice in my head,” he or she will most likely be sent to a psychiatrist. The fact is that, in a very similar way, virtually everyone hears a voice, or several voices, in their head all the time: the involuntary thought processes that you don’t realize you have the power to stop. Continuous monologues or dialogues. You have probably come across “mad” people in the street incessantly talking or muttering to themselves. Well, that’s not muc... more »
The Call of Distant Mammoths
I’ve long been interested in the megafauna extinctions of Pleistocene North America. A number of books endorse Paul Martin’s “Pleistocene Overkill Hypothesis,” which asserts that the early humans on the continent were “super predators” who launched a blitzkrieg of overhunting. Hunting began in northwest Canada, and spread south and east like a wild fire. Within 2,000 years, at least 33 genera (50 species) of large mammals went extinct — many more than in the preceding three million years. At first contact, large animals who had never before seen odd-looking humans, did not s... more »
Trump Fined For Using His Charitable Foundation To Bribe Pam Bondi To Cover Up Trumpanzee University Crimes
Back in June, as a caption to a Trumpanzee gif I wrote that "Hillary isn't my idea of an honest politician but her level of crookedness is nowhere near Trump's," a corollary, I suppose of the lesser-of-two-evils theorem of American politics. Although neither has been charged-- let alone in prison-- it's been known for several months that Trumpanzee bribed Florida's shady Attorney General, Pam Bondi, to drop her investigation into the fraud charges against Trumpanzee University, which had ripped of hundreds of Florida students. Worse, yet, Bondi solicited the bribe from Trump-- a q... more »

Where do we find good news these days?
There *must* be good journalism going on in New Zealand suggest Russell Brown and Danyl at Dim Post, but it’s too often buried under an avalanche of clickbait “pillaged from social media and the kind of trivia your stupid friend insists on sharing in their Facebook feed.” Danyl suggests we quality-news mavens need to fight back with a decent NZ news aggregator to dig out the quality stuff, just like in the old days: *What I could really use is an aggregator. Way back in the day Kiwiblog functioned as a political news aggregator, linking and excerpting pretty much every politica... more »
Winston starts early
When I started writing this post, it began with the phrase “Winston Peters claims.” And then I realised: what’s the evidential value of anything Winston Peters claims? And the answer, of course, is zero. Winston Peters has been making up stuff up on the spot for years – it’s his one real skill; that, and faking sincerity. Over the years it’s included everything from the grounding of a Cook Strait ferry to him despising the baubles of office to having paid “hundreds of thousands of dollars” on an inquiry – so there’s no more reason to believe this latest claim, that there will b... more »
