BIDEN DELIVERS MESSAGE TO TURKEY ~ IT'S NOT PERSONAL , IT'S STRICTLY BUSINESS
*Click on photo to enlarge* *"Apathy is the glove into which evil slips its hand"* *It was a scene straight out of the Godfather as US Vice President Joe Biden arrived in Turkey to announce that we would directly support NATO member Turkey's incursion into northern Syria, while in July Turkey's President Erdoğan barely survived a military coup, which is widely believed to have enjoyed US support. Biden’s reversal was at the same time a double-cross of the Kurdish forces which the US had promoted as its proxies in the Syria conflict. This brings to mind a* *famous sce... more »
Hawaii's Republican Party Did To Their Own Trump What The National GOP is Afraid To Do To Trumpanzee Himself
The Republican Party-- *especially* although not exclusively the Trumpanzee Republican Party-- combines a hatred and bigtry wing with a greed and selfishness wing. And the chat between Dan Rather and Rachel Maddow in the video above focused on David Bossie from the former and Robert Mercer from the latter, both equally dangerous to the country and equally contemptible. The kind of people who support Trump and the same kinds of haters and sociopaths that supported the breakup of the U.S. leading up to the Civil War. But what that got to do with Hawaii? Well, it turns out Hawaii ha... more »

Obama Secretly Extends 9/11 “State of National Emergency”
President Barack Obama has quietly extended the “state of national emergency” in America for another year, citing the 9/11 attacks as justification. Fifteen years ago the Bush administration, in response to the September 11 attacks, declared a “war on terror” – giving the White House vast new powers that saw the diminishing of citizen’s constitutional rights. Thefreethoughtproject.com reports: Key to this was the declaration of a “State of National Emergency” on September 14, 2001. This, combined with the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF), gave the executive branch dict... more »
United Nations: Bill Clinton Responsible For Haiti Cholera Outbreak
The United Nations has implicated Bill Clinton for the 2010 cholera outbreak in Haiti that killed nearly 10,000 people and infected hundreds of thousands more. Bill Clinton was head of the United Nations mission to Haiti at the time UN troops dumped septic waste into the local water supply. Breitbart.com reports: The Artibonite River, located in the town of Mirebalais, is the island of Hispaniola’s longest and most important river. Located in the heart of island, the contaminated water ran through other rivers, creating a stream of death through Haiti’s waterways. Cholera is a wate... more »
Former Kissinger CEO Says The World Is Run By 30 Families
A former CEO for Henry Kissinger has said that he believes just 30 families run the world, and that these families are the driving force behind the New World Order. David Rothkopf, author of ‘Superclass: The Global Power Elite and the World They Are Making,’ and former CEO of Kissinger Associates, says that 30 families and their 6,000 minions control the entire human race of six billion people. His findings mirror a study conducted by the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich which found that a mere 147 corporations (out of 40,000 studied) had real power and influence in the wo... more »
Venezuela Revolution: Thousands Take To Streets In Huge Uprising
Thousands of citizens have taken to the streets in Venezuela in a massive revolution against the elite. The uprising, dubbed the ‘taking of Caracas,’ aims to force the government for a recall referendum to remove President Nicolas Maduro from office. Greenleft.org.au reports: It came two days after thousands of government supporters also took to Caracas’ streets to show support for Maduro, who spoke to the crowd. “Do they want peace?” Maduro asked to the crowd at the August 30 march, accusing the opposition of planning violence and, potentially, a new attempted coup. “Do they want ...more »
Indian Farmers Debunk Myth That GMOs Are Needed To Feed The World
Indian farmers are breaking world records by growing copious amounts of organic rice and other staple foods without the help of GMOs – debunking the myth that genetically modified organisms are the only way to end world hunger. Oil Pipeline Company Turns Dogs on Dakota Protesters
On September 3, the Dakota Access pipeline company attacked Native Americans with dogs and pepper spray as they protested against the $3.8 billion pipeline's construction. If completed, the pipeline would carry about 500,000 barrels of crude per day from North Dakota’s Bakken oilfield to Illinois. The project has faced months of resistance from the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and members of nearly 100 more tribes from across the U.S. and Canada. (Thanks to Jeff Kunz for the assistance.)

When someone goes to the doctor and says, “I hear a voice in my head,” he or she will most likely be sent to a psychiatrist. The fact is that, in a very similar way, virtually everyone hears a voice, or several voices, in their head all the time: the involuntary thought processes that you don’t realize you have the power to stop. The Call of Distant Mammoths
I’ve long been interested in the megafauna extinctions of Pleistocene North America. A number of books endorse Paul Martin’s “Pleistocene Overkill Hypothesis,” which asserts that the early humans on the continent were “super predators” who launched a blitzkrieg of overhunting. Hunting began in northwest Canada, and spread south and east like a wild fire. Within 2,000 years, at least 33 genera (50 species) of large mammals went extinct — many more than in the preceding three million years. At first contact, large animals who had never before seen odd-looking humans, did not s... more »
Trump Fined For Using His Charitable Foundation To Bribe Pam Bondi To Cover Up Trumpanzee University Crimes
Back in June, as a caption to a Trumpanzee gif I wrote that "Hillary isn't my idea of an honest politician but her level of crookedness is nowhere near Trump's," a corollary, I suppose of the lesser-of-two-evils theorem of American politics. Although neither has been charged-- let alone in prison-- it's been known for several months that Trumpanzee bribed Florida's shady Attorney General, Pam Bondi, to drop her investigation into the fraud charges against Trumpanzee University, which had ripped of hundreds of Florida students. Worse, yet, Bondi solicited the bribe from Trump-- a q... more »

When I started writing this post, it began with the phrase “Winston Peters claims.” And then I realised: what’s the evidential value of anything Winston Peters claims? And the answer, of course, is zero. Winston Peters has been making up stuff up on the spot for years – it’s his one real skill; that, and faking sincerity. Over the years it’s included everything from the grounding of a Cook Strait ferry to him despising the baubles of office to having paid “hundreds of thousands of dollars” on an inquiry – so there’s no more reason to believe this latest claim, that there will b... more »

Keith Vaz and British Politics
The most surprising thing about the Keith Vaz sex scandal is that it took so long to come out. When I was a bag carrier, the Westminster grapevine even extended as far out as Stoke-on-Trent. And one such rumour that persisted, albeit without any details and, conveniently, no proof at all was that some unspecified scandal was attached to Keith Vaz's person. Three years later, out it comes. And so the first question I find myself asking is why didn't it surface sooner? Why now? The second point is prurience, or the sadistic pleasure our press has in raking over the sex lives of anyon... more »

Big Pharma Now Kills More People Than Illegal Drugs
More people die from overdosing on pharmaceutical drugs than illegal drugs, states the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on their website, citing an average of 23,000 deaths relating to prescription pharmaceutical drugs per year. Teenagers in particular are at greater risk of overdosing on prescription drugs than they are on illicit street drugs. It’s a disproportionate effect that has a worrying trend, where anxiety related issues in teenagers are the propelling reason for the drug abuse. Drugs such as OxyContin are now more likely to kill people than Heroin. Tricycl... more »

I was tossing-and-turning in bed early this morning - my mind fixed on the images in the video from China about the blue jeans manufacturing operations destroying the local environment and the lives of the workers. My mind also flashed to the videos from North Dakota where indigenous people have been massing in recent weeks to protect the Missouri River from a pipeline that the oil-i-garchy wants to lay to move their deadly poison. And finally my mind flashed to Okinawa where the people are trying to protect the endangered Yanbaru forest and wildlife at Takae. Each of these stori... more »
Dancing after a Victory in Okinawa
VFP member Will Griffin reports from Okinawa: The people of Takae/Okinawa defeated the construction workers by blocking them off and taking control of a bridge that leads to the US Marines Helipad site. Look at this amazing site! The people controlling their own lands! This bridge is covered with happy people celebrating their victory through song and dance joined with Veterans For Peace members Matthew Hoh, Tarak Kauff, Michael Hanes, Ken Mayers, Mike Hastie, and Douglas Lummis! It was such a great feeling to finally see the people take back what is rightfully theirs! #FreeOk... more »
Venezuelan President Maduro Is Chased By Angry (And Hungry) Protesters
*New York Times*: *Venezuelan President Is Chased by Angry Protesters* CARACAS, Venezuela — President Nicolás Maduro was chased at a routine political event by a crowd of angry protesters banging on pots and yelling that they were hungry, just days after thousands of Venezuelans took to the streets to call for his ouster, local news media reported on Saturday. Scenes from the confrontation late Friday, which also appeared in videos uploaded to social media, captured the attention of Venezuelans, many of whom blame the unpopular president for the country’s food shortages. In one vi... more »
U.S. - China Differences And Tensions On Display At Today's Meeting Between Presidents Obama And Xi
*Bloomberg:* *Moonlight Stroll Can’t Mask Lingering Tensions Between Obama, Xi* * Historic climate agreement gives way to cyber, maritime talks * Chinese official, Obama aide in dispute on airport tarmac After a dinner that wound late into Saturday night, U.S. President Barack Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping left their delegations behind and went for a moonlight walk around the shores of West Lake, the World Heritage Site in Hangzhou dotted by temples, pagodas and beautifully kept gardens. Obama and Xi discussed their exercise routines, the history of the site, and stopped... more »
Some Republicans Worry That Señor Trumpanzee Might Be The Wrong Messenger For Their Vision-- But He's Not
Do one ever accused Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy (R) of being a moderate. He hasn't been in the Senate long and he's already run up one of the worst voting records of any member. ProgressivePunch rates him an "F," of course, but an F that equates to a 5.19, worse than extremists like Ted Cruz (R-TX), Mike Lee (R-UT), Roy Blunt (R-MO) and Chuck Grassley (R-IA) for example. According to Buzzfeed, when Cassidy was asked during an interview on C-SPAN’s *Newsmakers* program about whether Trump, Louisiana senate candidate David Duke, and a growing number of pro-Trump white supremacist... more »
Improper to ask accused to provide theory of case
A witness is to testify as to facts - not to explain their theory of a case. R. v. Dhaliwal, 2016 ONCA 652: [11] This line of questioning was improper. It put an onus on the appellant to explain the allegations against him: *R. v. S.(W.)* (1994), 18 O.R. (3d) 509, 90 C.C.C. (3d) 242 (C.A.) at 252; *R. v. Vandenberghe* (1995), 96 C.C.C. (3d) 371 (C.A.) at 373. [12] The point was made by the Alberta Court of Appeal in *R. v. Kusk*, 1999 ABCA 49, 132 C.C.C. (3d) 559, at p. 564: This mischievous cross-examination wrongly suggests that the witness is advocating a certa... more »
Another Example of The Media's Mild Coverage of Turkey's Criminal Invasion of Syria
*Related: Since When Did An Invasion Become A Plunge?* The New York Times described Turkey's criminal invasion of Syria as a "plunge." Now, Reuters is saying they are merely "crossing into" Syria with their tanks. Would they describe Russian tanks invading Ukraine in the same way? Definitely not. The crime of aggression is the most serious of offenses. But when a NATO country is guilty of this crime then it doesn't matter according to the criminal Western media. Ever since the U.S. invaded Afghanistan and Iraq based on false pretexts the crime of aggression has been ignored. It... more »
Yemen: Saudis Should Give Up Already
*An excerpt from, "Despite 10,000 civilian casualties in Yemen — 13 per day — U.S. reaffirms support for Saudi Arabia" by Ben Norton, Salon, September 2, 2016: * In August, the U.N. high commissioner released a report on the situation of human rights in Yemen. It revealed that at least 2.8 million Yemenis, including more than 400,000 families, have been forced to flee their homes because of the violence. “The prolonged duration of the conflict has strongly heightened the disastrous risk of a systemic collapse of Yemen,” wrote Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein, the U.N. high commissioner. “Th... more »
Some History On The Veil
*A woman in Manbij in Syria sets fire to her burqa after the city was liberated from ISIS which had imposed a strict dress code on women during its brief rule.* Islam took something colorful and positive, in this case women's clothing and veiling, and made it dark and negative. As author Nancy Marie Brown *says in this lecture*, Muslims did the same thing with chess pieces, making the game more bland and boring by taking the life out of it. It was the Europeans who resurrected the game and livened it again by adding character to the pieces. France, England, and other European soc... more »
Hillary Clinton Avoiding The Press Is Finally Becoming A News Story (Maybe)
*Politico:* *Hillary Clinton, rarely seen, rarely heard* The Democrat lets reporters trail her but tucks them away to keep them out of sight and herself out of reach. Hillary Clinton has never felt comfortable with the traveling political press. As first lady, she would sometimes arrange travel for herself and Chelsea separate from her husband, partly to avoid the protective pool of reporters assigned to the president. In 2008, she “fought tooth and nail,” former aides said, to avoid sharing the plane with her press corps and relented only when her campaign was running out of mon... more »
