The discovery lends validity to the theory that Earth was a dry planet when it was relatively young. The water on Earth came from comets and asteroids that hit the Earth over an untold number of years.
Should charges now be dropped against Edward Snowden?
Bernie Sanders welcomed this week's federal court ruling that the NSA phone surveillance program is illegal. As he put it, "Do we really want our government to collect our emails, see our text messages, know everyone’s Internet browsing history, monitor bank and credit card transactions, keep tabs on people’s social networks? I don’t."

Annals of War: Mrs. Wharton has her picture taken
*Edith Wharton (1862-1937)* *(No, this isn't the photo in question!)* *by Ken* I don't mean to make light, or at any rate not too light, of these weird and wonderful little story of the great American writer Edith Wharton's, which I couldn't resist sharing. Because the circumstances in which these odd events transpired were anything but light. By chance in the very week that the world took note of the 100th anniversary of the sinking-by- torpedo of the Cunard liner Lusitania, at 2:10pm on Thursday, May 7, 2015, thereby drawing a certain amount of attention to World War I, I happen... more »

Translation of the Roswell Slides Placard
I will freely admit when I was told, during a telephone conversation last night (May 8) that two groups, working independently, had come to the same conclusions about the placard near the body, it didn’t overly surprise me. They both said the first line proved it was a mummy of a child. I didn’t disbelieve this claim because to me, it looked like a mummy and I was surprised that Tom and Don would go off on a years’ long search for some answers given the look of the slides. Overnight there have been some questions raised about the legitimacy of the announcement and I have done today ... more »

Pre-Ascension Exercise #3 The Heart Love Vortex
By American Kabuki May 9, 2015 This exercise is one of the first I learned. It was originally taught to me by GW Hardin in 2012 when I was compiling the stats on banker resignations worldwide. I was noticing some really strange and unsettling energies at that time, and came down with a very mysterious illness that landed me in the hospital in June of 2012. GW Hardin told me to visualize a vortex coming from my heart. And whenever I felt an energy that was very uncomfortable, I was told to visualize the vortex and some event, emotion or a pet or whatever that evoked a strong emot... more »

Aww! And talking of *Dead Ringers,* their post-election special made me laugh quite a lot. And their closing number was clearly a little bit sad about poor Ed. (It even got an 'aww!' from the BBC audience). Confessions of a euphoric blogger
Maybe it's because I was so swept up by a feeling of euphoria on Thursday night/Friday morning but I completely failed to spot what many in the 'BBC bias blogosphere' spotted - that the BBC was in complete mourning for Labour and the Lib Dems and in deep depression about the Conservative victory. I just didn't see any of that as I was watching and listening. In fact, I remember thinking they were all doing a reasonable job at disguising whatever feelings they had. I did think though that they were all looking increasingly tired as the night went on - except for Andrew Neil, who ... more »

May 9: "Knives, sharp objects regularly seized at Moncton courthouse"
So bloody what? At an airport, my tiny penknife with its two inch blade was seized so that I couldn't use it to take control of an aircraft with with a hundred and fifty passengers, murder them all, and crash the plane into the new Shediac trailer park. Such knives are seized at the courthouse where they also seize scissors and butter knives and nail files. All of that is reasonable enough. But it's scarcely cause for a panic. And I read that bottle openers and corkscrews are routinely seized, too. But I can't remember the last time a judge was corkscrewed to death during a trial. ... more »

Fear, Loathing, and the UK General Election
We now know what happened, but *why* did it happen? How was it that an election campaign characterised by two different approaches, one upbeat, one defeated-looking; one that had momentum and enthusiasm and the other little more than desperate personal attacks, climaxed as it did? The result, which was unexpectedly very bad for Labour, is going to be scrutinised and analysed for years to come. Some questions about the election results and the BBC
Looking closely at the election results, there are certain things the BBC doesn't seem to be paying very much attention to in its post-election coverage (of which I've watched quite a lot in the past couple of days, and rather enjoyed). Firstly, if you add up all the votes received for every UK political party that achieved 0.1% of the vote or more on Thursday (excluding all the insignificant others), you will find that parties traditionally described as "right-wing" won 51% of the votes, whilst parties traditionally described as "left-wing" won 41% of the vote and parties traditi... more »

Not only that, IAF would be "constrained" to induct the fighter LCA without availability of a trainer model, thereby "adversely impacting pilot training", the audit body said in a report tabled in Parliament. The CAG noted that it was due to the delay in the manufacture and supply of LCA that IA... more »

The US Is Hiding Its Nukes so Poorly, It Undermines the Point of Having Them

North Korea announces test of submarine-launched missile
[image: Kim Jong-un]North Korea has said it successfully test-fired a newly developed ballistic missile from a submarine. Kim Jong-un personally attended the test launching of what he described as a “world-level strategic weapon”, the official Korean Central News Agency said. The report did not reveal the timing and location of the launch. A day earlier the North accused the South of breaching its maritime territories and threatened to launch attacks on ships. The regime leader praised the test launch as an “eye-opening success” and declared it gave North Korea a weapon capable of “... more »

Friday Corporate Beaver
But of course all of my assets are kept off shore. Where has all the money gone? Stock prices are at an all time high but consumers aren't rushing out to buy the latest fridge or flat screen. Corporations given what amounts to free money are off shoring it, paying little or no tax on it and reaping the rewards. Savers desperate for income have ventured into buying corporate bonds. Most savings accounts now pay about .25% interest if even that. This bodes well for CEOs who's bonuses are based on driving up the price of a company stock. That doesn't mean a company is actually makin... more »

What's My Take On The Release Of Omar Khadr
*CBC:* *Omar Khadr continues to divide Canadians* *'There is not a single, radical thought in Omar Khadr’s head,' his lawyer says.* *Social media lit up Thursday when Omar Khadr was freed on bail by an Alberta court.* *People are parsing his every word, commenting on his smile, offering support — and making threats against him.* *Comments pages filled up on news websites.* *If Canada is a country at times divided, then Omar Khadr now has his own sense of that reality, especially if he has read or heard the things that have been said about him in the past 24 hours.* *An editoria... more »

The End of the Saga of the Not Roswell Slides
Yes, I know I have beaten this dead horse repeatedly over the last few days, but I have learned from two separate and independent sources that the placard in the case of the alleged alien has been read. I do not know why it has only taken 48 hours to get this information when other have had the slides for years. The placard says that it is the mummy of a two year old. But I didn't get this myself. Others did the work. Here is the web site for more information about this. http://www.blueblurrylines.com/2015/05/the-placard-of-roswell-slides-final.html Unless Don and Tom can provide so... more »

OK, so you forgot to book a place for Mother's Day and now the good places are booked up? If you're in the NYC area, here's a great way to celebrate
*And even if you're not in the NYC area, ifyou're resourceful, you can do this yourself* *In the history of cinema, what film says "Happy Mother's Day" more purely from the heart than Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho? This, of course, is Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates, a boy who really loves his mom.* *by Ken* Some of you may object that I've already had my crotchety say on the closing-in-on-us Mother's and Father's Days. But that was before I'd experienced the full horror of spending hours every day clearing my e-mailbox of the barrage of too-exciting-for-words Mother's Day offers. ... more »

Extending time to appeal
The Canada Trust Company v. Potomski, 2015 ONCA 324: [28] In determining whether to grant leave to extend the time to perfect an appeal, it is useful to consider the test applicable to extending time to file a notice of appeal: *Mauldin v. Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP*, 2011 ONCA 67 [In Chambers], at para. 5; *Monteith v. Monteith*, 2010 ONCA 78 [In Chambers], at para. 11. The relevant factors are: 1) Whether the appellant had an intention to appeal within the relevant period; 2) The length of the delay and the explanation for the delay; 3) Any prejudice to the respon... more »
