Just as a side note on this post, it took trying two other browsers to get the post to Publish on Blogger before succeeding in getting it to activate on the third go after repeated and futile attempts to do that in both Chrome and Opera....admittedly after other posts had gone through but 2 hours or so before. That is also why Zemanta additions appear here...they almost seem locked out in other browsers.

Problems with Song et al Animal Protein vs Plant Protein study
According to Harvard, this truck has saved more lives than an ambulance. Here we have another study from the hydra-headed monster that is the Harvard school of public health's interpretation of the NHS and HPFS studies. By my count there have been four of these so far this year, all saying much the same thing, that dietary guidelines were correct. Or rather, they've been presented as saying that,
Glucokinase mutations, diabetic complications, and cardiovascular disease
This is a very interesting study that was posted by Richard Lehman on his BMJ blog a few years ago. It contains much food for thought. People with this mis-sense mutation in the gene that encodes glucokinase (GCK), part of the pancreatic beta cell glucose sensor, basically have their sugar thermostat, their glucostat, set too high. They don't produce insulin in response to blood glucose in the pre
Evidence of cardiovascular benefits of LCHF diets, despite no change or increase in LDL, from drug trials
A recent meta-analysis of low-carb diets and cardiovascular risk factors found, predictably, that low carb diets decrease triglycerides (TG), increase HDL, and - significantly, on average, but not consistently, and only by a small amount - elevate LDL. The authors argued that this was not evidence of cardiovascular safety. "Low-carbohydrate diets increase LDL-cholesterol, and thereby indicate

Douglas Kellner writes : Unlike classic dictators who are highly disciplined with a fixed ideology and party apparatus, Trump is chaotic and undisciplined, viciously attacking whoever dares criticize him in his daily Twitter feed or speeches, thus dominating the dail
A Chip Off The Old Blockhead
The New York Times has been looking into how the Trumps -- father and son -- have done business. Consider the following anecdote: She seemed like the model tenant. A 33-year-old nurse who was living at the Y.W.C.A. in Harlem, she had come to rent a one-bedroom at the still-unfinished Wilshire Apartments in the Jamaica Estates neighborhood of Queens. Canadian "Freedom Of Speech": Monika Schaefer Speaks About Her Fight For Freedom Of Speech And Thought In Canada
As a Canadian, I have to "tread lightly" in regards to certain "taboo" topics at this blog..... One of those "taboo" topics that I constantly get asked to give my personal opinion, but am muzzled because of the horrendous and most draconian "Hate Crime" laws that most Canuckleheads are unaware are violations of free speech, is of course the Jewish "Holo
