Any Republicans Looking To Have A Friendly Chat With Trump To Tell Him It's Time To Resign? Oh Sure!
*Whistleblower by Nancy Ohanian* Early yesterday, Texas Democratic congressional candidate Mike Siegel tweeted "Let history remember that @RepMcCaul used his last term in office to cover up Trump’s gross abuse of power. It is despicable that a President used military aid to coerce a foreign nation to attack a political rival. And it is certainly impeachable." Simultaneously, Jon Hoadley, the progressive Democrat running in southwest Michigan for the seat help by Trump-enabler Fred Upton, issued this statement: "The Rule of Law is the cornerstone of American democracy and is not a p... more »

Make Less Than $35,568? Starting January 1, You Get Overtime
The Department of Labor has just raised the minimum amount employees must make to be considered exempt for overtime, from $23,660 to $35,568, starting January 1. You still have to also meet one of the exemptions, such as administrative, professional, executive, computer professional, or outside sales, and still have to be paid on a salary basis rather than hourly. This new rule will add about 1.3 million workers to the employees entitled to be paid overtime if they work more than 40 hours/week. So yay! Big Railguns: The U.S. Navy's Plan to Blow Away China and Russia in a War?
*Jared Keller* *Security, * Innovations change war. *Key point: *Needs more testing before it becomes operational. What happens now? The Navy's electromagnetic railgun is undergoing what officials described as "essentially a shakedown" of critical systems before finally installing a tactical demonstrator aboard a surface warship, the latest sign that the once-beleaguered supergun may actually end up seeing combat. That pretty much means this is could be the last set of tests before actually slapping this bad boy onto a warship, for once. Personnel at the Naval Surface Warfare ... more »
5 Old and Retired U.S. Weapons of War the World Still Fears
*Warfare History Network, Francis Horton* *Technology, Americas* What a joke. *Key point:* Some weapons are best left behind in history. No one can say the U.S military doesn’t rise to a challenge. When President Donald Trump said we need our Navy to increase to 350 ships and submarines, and then slashed the shipbuilding and procurement budget, the Department of the Navy didn’t just roll over and call it impossible. They looked at the Vietnam-era ships we still had falling apart in drydock and formulated a plan. Ideas like reactivating the USS Kitty Hawk, an aircraft carrier buil... more »

Rambo Is Back: Critics Hate It (But Let Me Tell You Why You Should See It)
*James Jay Carafano* *Society, * Like it or love it, this movie gets one thing right: like Sylvester Stallone’s other pictures, it reflects the times in terms of how many Americans see themselves in this turbulent world. Last week the latest last Rambo film hit the screen. Many critics hope it will be the last. The reviews have been every bit as savage as the lead character’s treatment of the myriad cartel hooligans who find themselves stabbed, shot and blown up over the course of an hour and 29 minutes. Germany Needs a New Fighter Plane: What About a Stealth F-35 or New F-15EX?
*David Axe* *Security, * This could get very interesting--very quickly. The German air force will select a new fighter aircraft in early 2020, German minister of defense Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer announced in late September 2019. The plane will replace the Luftwaffe’s fleet of 93 Panavia Tornado fighter-bombers and complement the service’s roughly 140 Eurofighter Typhoons. For the longer term, Germany is working with France to develop a next-generation warplane under the Future Combat Air System program. Heroes, Villains and Establishment Hypocrisy By Craig Murray
Trump and Johnson’s populism have shaken the old Establishment, and raised some very interesting questions about who is and who is not nowadays inside the Establishment and a beneficiary of the protection of the liberal elite. Yesterday two startling examples in the news coverage cast a very lurid light on this question, and I ask you to consider the curious cases of Hunter Biden and Brendan Cox, two of the most undeserving and unpleasant people that can be imagined.

Where Does All the Plastic Go?
What this fails to address is the primary reduction cycles that nature applies to anything entering the ocean. The first of those is temporary stranding on the sea shore. Why this is important is that storm action activates the seashore to become what is effectively a natural ball mill. Everything gets ground down and turned into sand sized material at the least. It takes time, but also even that is measured over a few seasons. That is precisely why no archeology survives at this interface. What is not reduced this way may escape temporarily into the open sea and there stay... more »

By Julia A Seymour ~ After an Australian academic website called The Conversation tweeted “it’s time to ban climate denial” in the media, UC-Boulder Professor Roger Pielke, Jr., weighed in to show the consequences of such censorship. Pielke is a political scientist who actually argues human-caused climate change is “real and poses significant risks.” He’s also […]
The Greta Plan Backfired With Young Conservatives

Before Pearl Harbor America and Nazi Germany Were Fighting a Secret War
*Warfare History Network* *History, Europe* A conflict before the wider war to come. *Key point: *America was cooperating with Britain against German submarines early on. Between September 1939 and December 1941, the United States moved from neutral to active belligerent in an undeclared naval war against Nazi Germany. During those early years the British could well have lost the Battle of the Atlantic. The undeclared war was the difference that kept Britain in the war and gave the United States time to prepare for total war. With America’s isolationism, disillusionment from its... more »

Major Sam P. Bakshas woke up that morning with the secrets in his head. Bakshas was one of the men flying B-29 Superfortress bombers from three Pacific islands—Guam, Saipan, and Tinian. A writer dubbed these men “the thousand kids.” There were actually several thousand, and the... more »

Max Ehrmann, "A Prayer"
"A Prayer" "Let me do my work each day; and if the darkened hours of despair overcome me, may I not forget the strength that comforted me in the desolation of other times. May I still remember the bright hours that found me walking over the silent hills of my childhood, or dreaming on the margin of a quiet river, when a light glowed within me, and I promised my early God to have courage amid the tempests of the changing years. Spare me from bitterness and from the sharp passions of unguarded moments. May I not forget that poverty and riches are of the spirit. Though the world knows me n... more »
"Something Like Reverance..."
"When the pain of leaving behind what we know outweighs the pain of embracing it, or when the power we face is overwhelming and neither flight nor fight will save us, there may be salvation in sitting still. And if salvation is impossible, then at least before perishing we may gain a clearer vision of where we are. By sitting still I do not mean the paralysis of dread, like that of a rabbit frozen beneath the dive of a hawk. I mean something like reverence, a respectful waiting, a deep attentiveness to forces much greater than our own." - Scott Russell Sanders ◆ Above graphic is fro... more »
