The Trans-Pacific Partnership (or TPP) is a trade deal that is being negotiated in secret between the U.S. and 11 other Pacific bordering nations. The secrecy is necessary because TPP's objective is be NAFTA on steroids, whereas twenty years of NAFTA cost "one millon U.S. jobs lost, mass displacement and instability in Mexico, record income inequality, [and] scores of corporate attacks on environmental and health laws" according to Public Citizen. DANGER ZONE
This graphic tells the story. The US military "pivot" into the
Asia-Pacific is provocative. Imagine if another nation was moving 60% of
its military might right off the shores of the US's east and west coasts. Washington
would take it as a declaration of war. When the US does it no one is
supposed to bat an eye. That one hurts.
China is the target. North Korea, that pip-squeak with mostly outdated
military technology (according to the Pentagon), is just the excuse. When

WATCHING STORY GROW: Concerning that alleged traffic study!

*Interlude—What the AP said:* With apologies, we want to show you an AP

The report appeared last Saturday. In an overview of the thousands of pages
of emails and texts which were released the day before, two AP reporters
mused about the “traffic study” which devoured Fort Lee.
Overall, the AP report painted an unflattering picture of the conduct of
the Christie team during and after the now-famous lane closings.

Dennis McGuire did not die an easy death.
After the poison was injected he was still for almost five minutes, then he

Voted for President Obama not once but twice - hoping I would see some

But alas 2010 elections gave him a RepubliCON house and all was for naught.

What Will New Jersey's Universal Pre-K Look Like?
Universal pre-K is a no brainer when it comes to providing children with a
good start. Then again, brains appear to be in short supply here in New
Jersey as voters swept a corrupt Christie administration into office AGAIN.
His record and polices that have hurt just about everyone in the state is
as clear as the view from the George Washington Bridge on a sunny day.
While Christie and his cronies in Trenton hide out from the media, lawyers
and the public, Barbara Buono's legislation on school funding reform is
making its way to the legislature and getting some serious attention,

Obama, Drones And The National Surveillance State-- Speech Mañana
Just over a week ago, we presented a post featuring JFK ruing the day he
had ever decided to keep Allen Dulles as head of the CIA. NOt just that--
JFK was ruing the day he had ever gotten into business with the CIA at all.
Incredibly incompetent and determined to run its own unaccountable
proto-fascist foreign policy, the CIA, Kennedy came to realize, was the
center of evil in American politics. From Stephen Kinzer's brilliant new
book, The Brothers, we learned that after the CIA suckered Kennedy into the
ill-fated Bay of Pigs invasion, clearly meant to force him into an American ... more »
Does God exist?
This topic has perplexed me since I was a young kid and I still don't know
the answer. Input from the fellow bloggers will be appreciated.
*Does God exist?*
If the answer is 'yes' then why God is hiding from his creation.
*"The Hiddenness of God"A related problem is that of divine hiddenness.
Many people are perplexed and see as problematic that, if God exists, God
does not make his existence sufficiently clear and available. The problem,
concisely stated, can be put this way. If God exists as the perfect,
loving, omnibenevolent being that theists have generally taken God to... more »

Wars, economic crises, fiscal madness, none of these things just happen
spontaneously, all by themselves. Perhaps there is a logical explanation.

Sovereignty 101:Installment 11 - Civilized Slavery
You are convinced that the severity of your actions is an indication of how
barbaric or civilized you are. What is civilization really? Is it the
degree of conveniences available to the common man? Is it, or rather,
isn’t it instead supposed to be, the hallmark of advancement? We label
superiority of civilization very specifically. It has to do with how much
is physically available to plug in or turn on.
Civilized “superiority” in its true sense, is a much different attribute.

Fort Lee: Working to avoid basic facts!

*Rachel [HEART] Mayor Sokolich:* Over the weekend, an important new fact
emerged, or seemed to emerge, in the Fort Lee story. Here it is:
Mayor Mark Sokolich actually *was* asked to endorse Governor Christie!
This basic fact is only “new” because Sokolich made a point of saying the
opposite as recently as last Wednesday. Over the weekend, he changed his
story, as we first noted on Monday.

Gaza Wrecking Ball - A parody of the Miley Cyrus single
"They came in with a wrecking ball
Tore down our homes and all we loved
All we wanted was to live our lives
All they ever did was hate us
Yeah, they, hate us"
In August 2005, the State of Israel forcefully evacuated 9,000 Jews from
the Gush Katif "Harvest Belt" of Gaza and from northern Samaria. Orange was
the color of the protest. While billed as an act of peace, the operation
has caused untold devastation to both Jews and Arabs alike. Ultimately, it
was a strategic retreat, an act of appeasement of Palestinian terror and an
act of aggression against innocent Jews. The story of... more »
Public Meeting To Discuss Closing 12 Memphis Schools to Benefit Charter Industry and Gates Plan
A local columnist in Memphis, Wendi Thomas, has a cynical piece today in
the Memphis Corporate Appeal on the planned shutdown of 12 more Memphis
schools.
The Shelby County School Board, which represents the interests of the
corporate machine, has brought in an economist from Chicago to assure the
local media and politicians that the closure of 47 schools in Chicago is
fine, because, after all, the closures have not affected test scores in
Chicago. How the Chicago researcher knows this is hard to tell, since the
closures were only approved at the end of the last school year! So, s... more »

I hear he was introduced as ‘French writer and film-maker”. This is a
good example of the BBC breaching its guidelines on impartiality.

Security in southern Iraq in December 2013 was decidedly different from the
