Attack helicopters with rubber duckies???
Peter, Bayou Renaissance Man - 11 hours ago
I had to laugh at some of the reactions to this tweeted photograph of flotation bags for AH-64 Apache attack helicopters in British service. "Daddyshags" replied: "Oh s*** they weaponized the minions again." I thought that was a hoot - and yes, those flotation bags do bear a resemblance to the movie characters, don't they? Another respondent had an even better comparison. I think there's going to be a certain amount of gigglage over that among Apache pilots . . . Peter

*CNN:* *Kim Jong Un is cutting off his economic lifeline, China, to stave off Covid-19 * (CNN)Kim Jong Un appears to have kicked North Korea's pandemic prevention plan into overdrive, further tightening the country's nearly impassible borders, cutting off nearly all trade with China, and even allegedly executing a customs official for failing to handle imported goods appropriately. What Is A LHC Signal More Cool Than The Higgs? Two Higgses
Tommaso Dorigo, Science 2.0 blogs - 14 hours ago
That's right - I finally hit the ground with my creativity, and my jokes are starting to use old material for my post titles. Yet producing a pair of Higgs bosons in a proton-proton collision is seriously cool indeed. The Higgs boson in fact is one of the few particles that does a trick called "self-coupling": in a sort of ermaphroditic act it is capable of giving birth to a pair of objects identical to itself. read more

*Stephen Silver* *Technology, Americas* [image: https://www.reutersconnect.com/all?id=tag%3Areuters.com%2C2020%3Anewsml_RC211K9BGL81&share=true] Prices keep going up and more customers keep cutting their cords. It hasn’t been a particularly great year for either of the satellite TV services, DirecTV and Dish Network. Both have been bleeding customers, at a rate even beyond that of cable companies, and the companies that own them both appear to be pivoting to a future in which they’re not an important part. And they probably can’t merge their way out of the problem, either—the go...

Several people have asked if I am sorry that Trump lost. This question has emerged largely because I have been a frequent critical poster here and on Fazebook about Biden's incoming warmongering 'national security' crew. Terrace, PopularResistance.Org - 15 hours ago
When Rishi Sunak delivered the spending review earlier this week, the coverage focused predictably on levels of government borrowing. With GDP set to contract by more than 11% in 2020 – the largest fall in three centuries – and unemployment expected to reach 7.5%, government spending is the only thing standing between the UK economy and complete economic meltdown. As a result, we’re forecast to see the highest levels of public borrowing since the Second World War. In this context, Sunak felt the need to balance some new spending pledges...
