President Donald J. Projection Insists Jeffrey Goldberg Is A Con Man
Yesterday, CNN analyst John Harwood wrote that "From the outset of Donald Trump's presidency, Americans have told pollsters they consider him dishonest. That makes his re-election campaign entirely on-brand. In ways large and small, in targeted advertising and public remarks, Trump has made deceit the hallmark of his bid for a second term... Trailing Biden nationally and in key battleground states, Trump casts doubt on the legitimacy of the election by falsely associating mail-in balloting with rampant fraud. That amplifies what his own Department of Homeland Security calls Russia... more »

*Guardian Editorial*: *The Guardian view on Turkish-Greek relations: dangerous waters * A row over over borders, gasfields and national pride risks regional disorder. Some claim it has been centuries since the Mediterranean has been viewed as the cockpit of history. But great powers and coastline states, wishing to capture hydrocarbon riches, are today vying for mastery of the sea – or at least its eastern waves. The trouble surfaced last month when a Turkish frigate escorting an oil-and-gas exploration ship collided with a Greek naval vessel. Since then, tempers have flared, wit... more »

Does DC's Mayor Really Want To Get Rid of the Washington Monument?
*Joseph Loconte* *Society, Americas* The Washington Monument is among the many beloved memorials that the District of Columbia has deemed to have a “disqualifying history.” When D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser earlier this year created an advisory group to scrutinize the city’s monuments, memorials, and facilities for their “disqualifying histories,” the outcome of its feverish deliberations was utterly predictable: It would launch an assault on the most cherished and unifying symbols of American democracy. The UK's School Curriculum Reveals "Historical Amnesia" When it Comes to Black History
*Brian Ward, Megan Hunt* *History, UK* Teaching Martin Luther King and the US civil rights movement offers a valuable entrance point for conversations about race, racism, and anti-racism in both the US and the UK. As children return to school in the UK, they will encounter a curriculum that still pays little attention to black British history or culture. This is despite an urgent Black Lives Matter movement and growing demands for a more honest reckoning with the racial legacies of Britain’s imperial past.
