We're here at soggy, wet Lakeside

Norma at Collecting My Thoughts - 17 hours ago
We left Columbus about 10:30 and were unpacked and settled about 2:30. We're nursing along one of the two potted flowers (impatiens) we brought along, because it apparently hadn't been watered at home! The one we had on the deck looks fine. Loretta (gardener) has put in some lovely plants along the east side of the cottage, but some of the plants didn't make it through the winter that were put in Spring 2018. We always put impatiens along the street, but this year also turned that over to Loretta. Bob's knees just can't handle it anymore, and besides, ours never looked good until ... more »

A pocket magnet with 45.5 tesla: a revolution for LHC/FCC?

Luboš Motl at The Reference Frame - 17 hours ago

*The Seed That We Are - is destined to become a tree of life* "Humans are like seeds thrown into the world by the Creator. Each seed carries within it the image of divine perfection and its predestination is to sprout and grow until it becomes a tree. In 2010, the U.S. Army Was Stalked By A Mysterious Enemy Sniper

War Is Boring at The National Interest - 18 hours ago
*War Is Boring* *History, Middle East* [image: (U.S. Army photo by K. Kassens)] How did they stop this foe? Gunfire and rockets erupted on both sides of the American patrol. It was the night of March 28, 2010, in Kunar province, along the Pakistani border in eastern Afghanistan. The ambush was one of at least two apparently coordinated attacks that struck U.S. Army forces operating from two small bases in the province’s main river valley. Rockets exploded harmlessly against the sides of the thickly-armored American vehicles. While the soldiers, from 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry ... more »
