The Great Not Roswell Slides Coding Fiasco
Given our discussion about the date code on the Not Roswell Slides (which I sort of initiated), I did a little extra digging, though I’m not sure it was worth the effort, and discovered a few things. Tony Bragalia was the first to mention to me that the code on one of the slides proved that the film had been manufactured in 1947 (that is, a square and a triangle). Kodak had a list of codes for their film (see http://www.film-tech.com/ubb/f1/t011524.html). These were recycled every twenty years and we could discuss this at length but it is now irrelevant. Adam Dew had asked Bragalia... more »

Pakistan Military's Delusional Mindset - Pakistani Journalist Tahir Malik Explains
"The United States initially poured money and arms into Pakistan in the hope of building a major fighting force that could assist in defending Asia against communism. Pakistan repeatedly failed to live up to its promises to provide troops for any of the wars the United States fought against communist forces, instead using American weapons in its wars with India." - Husain Haqqani, former Pakistani ambassador to the U.S. *Video Title: Pakistan Military's Delusional Mindset - Pakistani Journalist Tahir Malik Explains. #RPGaDay 2016 Day 24: Game I'm Most Likely to Give as a Gift

Documents Confirm CIA Censorship Of Guantanamo Trials
Court documents confirm that the CIA actively censored information about their black-site program, during the Guantanamo trial of five men accused of plotting the 9/11 attacks. During the January 2013 military trial, a mysterious entity cut the audio feed to the gallery, indicating that the courtroom’s censorship system had been activated. Theintercept.com reports: The system was believed to be under the control of the judge, Col. James Pohl. In this case, it wasn’t. “The 40-second delay was initiated, not by me,” Pohl said. He was referring to the delayed audio feed, which normally ... more »

Impressions of an evolving news story
After getting in from work (just after 4 o'clock). I clicked on *The Times *website (as I usually do, having paid for the privilege) and spotted the paper's second story. My heart sank. A young, female British backpacker had been stabbed to death in Australia by a man shouting "Allahu akbar". Reading around, it turned out that the young woman in question, Mia Alyliffe-Chung, was from Derbyshire. A 30 year-old-British man had also been stabbed, and a dog killed too. The suspect was said to be French. A bizarre detail in several reports was that he'd been singing the French national... more »

That is a front page story in today's irving press. And it doesn't get any better. Norbert Cunningham has an amusing column on New Brunswick's 'incoherent' job strategy. But I'm here to tell you not to worry. Norbert seems to have forgotten that six or seven years ago, his boss, Mr. Irving, informed us in the paper that he had named himself as a member of the government, and he was going to set out the province's economic policy for the future. Now, it's well know by members of the Chamber of Commerce that businessmen are far superior to politicians in deciding this sort of thing.... more »

In the wake of 911, it's increasingly clear that the Charter of Rights and Freedoms is seminal to Canadian democracy. The latest example of the Charter's importance is illustrated by a request from the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police. I Know The Trump Family From Avenue Z-- They Were The Neighborhood Con Artists
The simplest way to see the Trump campaign is to never lose sight of that fact that he has always been and will always be a scam artist or, as most of his opponents in the Republican primary called him, a con man. The new flap over his immigration policy is just another example of that. After all the pain and anguish and turmoil he cause with his hateful rhetoric, he is now tap-dancing away from his round-up and deportation squads that so animated the racists and xenophobes on the GOP's fringes-- and beyond-- to try to reposition his deportation plan as one that will simply distin... more »

Radiation ebbed slowly, then collapsed rather suddenly as if ran out of a fuel supply. That may not be impossible either. Did the radiation change? That is too bizarre and unlikely. In view of the fact that my whole understanding of star and planet formation is under serious review now that i have an alternative model of causation, explaining this is even more fraught with difficulty. It seems plausible for a hydrogen reservoir to build up internally and then discharge onto the surface producing variable results, yet not likely. We would certainly be startled if it happe... more »

My investigations into spirituality and particularly the human spirit has established a number of clear conjectures in fact. 1 Every human being is guided by their own spirit expressing itself as their self conscious as well as at least one Earth Angel. The sensitive can talk to a crowd as well and troublesome spirits can come into play as well. 2 The Self also networks the astral body which consists of the individual processors managing individual cells. These processors as is the spirit, are physical in nature in the second tier of matter. 3 The Soul is the pattern for... more »

Actual mutability of electrons and neutrons and protons is powerfully suggested and that is certainly true for the electron in the model here. Inasmuch as an electron likely has 2400 axis formed by 620 pairings of fundamental particles, this becomes plausible. The shell can even stretch out substantially. Alternately the electron can be held along an axis of the neutron or proton. This also opens the door for an unexpec... more »
The 21st Century Doesn't Need a New Deal -- It Needs a New Economic Model
We have never had a proper foundational model for economics. Instyead we have had interventions better described as economic experiments and sometimes we had good results. If you wish to dispute my position please explain the existence of poverty. It is trivial to end poverty, After all it does not exist in any natural community. For that reason alone it must be trivial. Why it exists at all in the large community is that the internal politics of allocation of the natural community are stretched to cover the needs of a much larger community and the we dysfunction that is ... more »

Then just recently, just where i would find it, the library angel dug up a reprint titled 'on the unexplained' which was a selection of his work just before he passed in 1930. Sir Arthur was limited by the physics of the day and the lack of a rigorous understanding of time. Those are issues which ... more »

Good report on how the gardens were built. A mat was woven, surely from bendable willows and laid down first. This allowed earth and mud to be piled on top which surely pushed the mat down onto the lake bottom while the mat secured the base. Willow trees were used to secure corners. It is also possible that boat loads of sand and gravel were also brought in to establish the base itself as lake mud may well have been in limited supply. I certainly would do it that way. Neither side has won.* Exactly two decades ago, on August 23, 1996, Osama bin Laden declared war on the United States. At the time, few people paid much attention. But it was the start of what’s now the Twenty Years’ War between the United States and al-Qaeda—a conflict that both sides have ultimately lost. During the 1980s, bin Laden fought alongside the mujahideen in Afghanistan against the Soviet Union. Aft... more »
Hypocrisy on Presidential Golf is Out of Bounds

Right-Of-Center Labour Party Careerists In The U.K. Are Every Bit As Sleazy As Wasserman Schultz And Steve Israel Here
*Jeremy Corbyn rushed to hospital with multiple stab wounds in back* We've been writing for some time now about how the Democratic Party establishment sees "party unity" as a one way street. When someone from the corrupt-conservative wing of the party wins a primary-- or steals a win-- progressives *must* jump on board and back her (or him). But when progressives win primaries-- as, for example, Mary Ellen Balchunis (PA-07), Tom Wakely (TX-21), Mary Hoeft (WI-07) all did-- the establishment abandons them or even works to crush them and aid the Republicans. Leaving High Taxes and Big Government Behind
This post is based on some very useful references provided in a comment to my prior post on the Cato Institute evaluation of the freedom in the 50 States 2016. Between 1992 and 2014, the IRS tracked the migration of people and their AGI on their tax forms. The net results of these migrations are indicated in this map where red is a loss of income due to net migration and green is an income gain. It is interesting to note that of the 8 least free states by the 2016 report of Cato Institute on Freedom in the 50 States of my last post, the following 7 states are either red or light ... more »

Prices are stable?
The idea of a general price level is as stupid as the idea that inflating credit and the money supply with it doesn’t create inflation, yet the ‘Consumer Price Index’ that measures this imaginary figure has achieved virtual Holy Writ status, and is written into laws, contracts, and payment plans. For Ludwig Von Mises, any decent analysis of this “inflation figure” would begin by “decomposing” the so-called macroenomic aggregates “into their micro-economic components by rigorously analysing the ‘transmission mechanism’ of a monetary injection.’” But this is precisely what mainst... more »

Provoking Nuclear War by Media
By John Pilger The exoneration of a man accused of the worst of crimes, genocide, made no headlines. Neither the BBC nor CNN covered it. The Guardian allowed a brief commentary. Such a rare official admission was buried or suppressed, understandably. It would explain too much about how the rulers of the world rule. The International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague has quietly cleared the late Serbian president, Slobodan Milosevic, of war crimes committed during the 1992-95 Bosnian war, including the massacre at Srebrenica. Blast from the Past: The first opening in the late 1970s
My son dragged down some boxes from upstairs yesterday and I spent some time sorting through them. I finally found some old newspaper clippings I've been looking for on China's first opening to Taiwan in 1981, which included the first trickle of visitors to China via Hong Kong in the late 1970s, and was built on regular smuggling operations that had been going on throughout the 1970s. I have another clipping on PVC smuggling which said that in 1980 (recalling from memory) so much PVC was smuggled from Taiwan it accounted for a year of Chinese demand. The investment surge of the 199... more »

Evidence of cardiovascular benefits of LCHF diets, despite no change or increase in LDL, from drug trials
A recent meta-analysis of low-carb diets and cardiovascular risk factors found, predictably, that low carb diets decrease triglycerides (TG), increase HDL, and - significantly, on average, but not consistently, and only by a small amount - elevate LDL. The authors argued that this was not evidence of cardiovascular safety. "Low-carbohydrate diets increase LDL-cholesterol, and thereby indicate increased risk of CVD." Other cardiologists disputed this (including Axel F. Sigurðsson of the Doc's Opinion blog), citing evidence that TG and HDL are better markers of cardiovascular health t... more »
