  • ( Perspective from north of the 49th. In '93 Liberal leader Jean Chretien had  a Chairman Mao - size Red book of election promises. Considering he implemented the platform run by the outgoing government - which failed so dramatically as to consign the party to the history books - I cannot recall one election 'pledge' he kept. Just sayin'.  [ And yes, he was repeatedly re-elected ! ] 'Free Trade' one of the main items rejected at the polls. )
