These are the Labour MP's who Abstained on voting against the Tory welfare Bill AND Abstained on voting for the Labour party's motion to withdraw UK support from Saudi Arabia’s war on Yemen. Now some of them will be paired (and some will lie about being paired) but I would suggest this list is a good starting point for which Labour MP's should be deselected. All those on it should be asked if they were paired, if not they should definitely be on the deselection list of MP's who are frankly not worth anyone's support (unless you like killing disabled people, backing ISIS funder Saudi Arabia and bombing children). Same old Oil-Ogarchs Same Old Tyranny . :'(
"... the Trudeau government is replacing the high international standard in UNDRIP of Free, Prior, Informed Consent with the lower domestic legal standard of the Crown's duty to consult with Indigenous groups. All the government has to do is justify infringement of Indigenous rights for the public good and, voilà, you can approve the Site C dam project in the Peace Valley the Liquified Natural Gas project on Lelu Island, and probably the Kinder-Morgan pipeline.

Justin Trudeau is continuing the proud Liberal tradition of betraying Indigenous peoples -- and this is only year one of his mandate..."

of heavily militarized police. The original camps off of the pipeline route remain. Some police were in full military combat gear, including assault rifles. There were snipers on hilltops; multiple large humvees, a helicopter constantly swooping overhead, tasers, batons, etc. As many of you know, I have reported twice from Afghanistan. This was the closest thing to that experience I've ever experienced. The most heavily militarized police today looked as if they'd been plucked from that war zone into a new near "war zone" in the middle of a field in North Dakota on behalf of an oil pipeline company. They cleared the camp and the tents in the same way I've watched soldiers clear homes in war zones; though of course thankfully, the were only minor injuries among a few protectors from pepper spray, tasers, concussion grenades, people falling, and I've seen reports of rubber bullet injuries, as far as I know. The police slowly circled the camp, pushing people out. Women, a few children, many elderly and young men and women, dogs and horses all resisted - I cannot guess the numbers as I was running around too much and never got a clear single picture, but certainly in the hundreds; the vast majority resisting with peace and prayer, chanting, singing. There were a few arrests. It was an all day stand off. The Dakota Access Pipeline was being built on the sacred ground of the Stand Rock Sioux nation just feet away from us. We saw the equipment digging, saw the crews. But the protectors stopped that work during the days events. The vast majority were peaceful, but not all: several cars were set on fire; some occasionally threw things back at the police; primarily water bottles, but I also saw logs. I have always believed that violence begets violence, and the police militarized presence was of course the most significant violence of the day. It was a terribly sad day. But at one high point a herd of buffalo ran across the field in the distance, they were beautiful and majestic and all of the protectors stopped, cheered, sang. I'm very tired right now - exhausted - drained - so I'm just writing this off of the top of my exhausted head. I look forward to writing about it more and sharing the incredible interviews I conducted throughout the day.
White Privilege
Very good news and a very interesting story, this will be social housing but councils and HA's were not interested, nor were banks. The lack of thinking and innovation in hegemonic institutions meant they were simply not interested, so people doing this had to go it alone, hopefully it provides a model and proof of concept that will drag the provision of housing into the 21st century (although UK's dysfunctional housing economy will resist at all costs). But hey, it shows if we can overcome resistance to change a better world is 100% possible, the only thing holding us back is stick in the mud bloody minded regressive institutions and the political economy they prop up.
