Farmacology with Daphne Miller
I just read this book and I certainly recommend it. What it captures is
the ongoing effort by individual farmers to achieve an holistic protocol
for agricultural production. This is not mainstream as yet and what we
understand as organic practice is very much a work in progress even if it
is now clearly shown to be superior to industrial ways.
This is still a glimpse of the true future of agriculture.
To fully emerge, holistic agriculture needs to integrate the people
themselves and overcome a long history of the low grade abuse of the land's
servants. This can be done ... more »

Global Fig Culture
This is an interesting issue. First of, it is the most transportable
fruit we can imagine. The simple act of drying allows it to be carried on
land and at sea. This likely even preserves pollination insect larvae. Thus
our conjecture regarding the global Atlantean world pretty well demands
such a global distribution. Plenty of other crops also made the Bronze Age

That a wide range of separate varieties gives a year round harvest
certainly drove any general effort to move the horticulture.

This tells us that the relationship is way more direct and important than

Our primitive ancestors were clearly evolved to eat a lot of fruit on an

important. What the animal protein did was plausibly top off a steady but
often irregular diet of plants.
In our world, it is possible to consume a steady diet of fruit, vegetables

New Zealand to Outlaw Patents on Software

According to Kiwi Blog, which calls this “A good move from the Gov’t on
patents,” there is a new Patent Bill that will prohibit patents on

Logically, this suggests that there is something special about software
that is incompatible with patents. In order to determine this, we first
have to have a clear understanding of what software is and what a patent
is.
A patent is a property right that a person earns by creating a new
invention. But what is an invention? An invention is anything created by

Liberal Victory in Labrador
MONTRÉAL– Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau made the following statement today
on the by-election results in Labrador:
"I am immensely proud of Yvonne Jones and want to offer her my heartfelt

I was thrilled to campaign with Yvonne in Labrador, and am equally looking

both the Liberal caucus and to Parliament on behalf of her riding.

Scientists: Ubiquitous household chemical could be killing cats – ‘Significant association’ between hyperthyroidsim and brominated flame retardants
By Jeff Burnside
8 May 2013
SEATTLE (KOMO News) – A chemical threat lies hidden in millions of American
homes, and top government scientists believe it could be killing cats.
Right now in the special session of the state legislature, lawmakers are
fighting powerful interests to ban versions of the chemical.
Dr. Dennis Wackerbarth is a top expert on hyperthyroidsim, and he said
countless numbers of cats die from the disease each year.
Millions of indoor cats have been hit in recent decades by thyroid glands
that go crazy, switching their metabolism into high gear. They become

Verbal threats may amount to self-defence
R v Surette, [2009] Y.J. No. 149:
20 As to the argument by Crown counsel that words cannot constitute a
use of force within the definition of self-defence, I find that accepting
this position could lead to illogical or absurd results. As an extreme
example, if an individual is threatened by the use of force against him
which could result in grievous bodily harm or death, to the extent that he
is justified in repelling that force with deadly force, and he possesses a
loaded firearm, it would be a defence to that individual if he shot the

James Hillman was one of Jung’s apprentices. Hillman did not believe that

acorns, ready to spend their lives growing into unique oaks. Every oak
tree had a different form. No two were identical. The form of the tree

“If you’re not a terrorist, if you’re not a threat, prove it. This is the
price you pay to live in free society right now. It’s just the way it
is.”—Sergeant Ed Mullins of the New York Police Department.
Immediately following the devastating 9/11 attacks, which destroyed the
illusion of invulnerability which had defined American society since the
end of the Cold War, many Americans willingly ceded their rights and
liberties to government officials who promised ... more »
Another Vision
Last night I was lying in bed ready to fall to sleep and I had my second
vision.
I describe the first vision here, which occurred May 19, 2012. That vision
was of a worm that surged up from the earth and then exploded into a
terrible fire in the sky.
Then, rapidly, a new image was burned into my brain. It was off a bridge
shrouded in mist. I could not see the other side of the bridge. It
signified to me the uncertainty of death brought upon by the worm.
Last night a new vision appeared in my mind:

Turkey's military said on Monday that it had lost one of its F-16 fighter

NTV television quoted military sources as saying *the crash had probably

was Turkish, although Turkey said the plane had been identifiable and in

Kurdish Alliance Agrees To Face Saving Agreement With Iraq’s Central Government To Return To Baghdad
Since March 2013, the Kurdish Coalition had been boycotting the central
government. This was the result of on-going disputes over the 2013 budget,
and the country’s oil policy. Recently the two sides came to a new
agreement that allowed the Kurdish ministers and lawmakers to return to
Baghdad. The deal was roundly criticized, because it gained no immediate
benefits for the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). The reason why the
Kurdish list agreed to return to office with none of its demands met was
that it was gaining nothing from its absence, and simply wanted a face

Spurious Impeachment? Probably Not
I've been writing about possible impeachment for a long time, and I said
back in 2009 that "If Republicans take back the House, the odds are very
good that they will impeach Barack Obama. "
Here's the thing, though. For all the impeachment talk -- and it's been a
constant beginning just a few months into Obama's first term -- the House
hasn't actually done anything remotely like that.
I think I was wrong, and I think the chances of a spurious impeachment are
a lot lower than I thought, and a lot lower than a lot of liberal bloggers
now think (see Jamelle Bouie today, for example).

Mold a Tricky Problem for Condominium Owners

A mold outbreak is causing legal and financial headaches for residents of a
Palm Strings condominium complex, according to this story from the Desert

The problem was discovered more than a year ago by retired school teacher
Rita Siegel, who found a water leak from a neighboring condo had seeped
through a shared wall and into her closet.
Siegel blames the damp conditions for causing a mold outbreak in her unit,
and she moved out of the Riviera Gardens complex shortly after. Living in

2012 Aquaculture at 42% of Global Fishery
If you inspect these charts, the one thing that is clear is that the wild
catch is not growing at all and is stable at 90 million tons. A fishery
collapse or two and it is heading down. At the same time aquaculture
innovation is continuing apace and will soon displace even the tuna with an
equivalent.
Thus it is apparent that aquaculture will surely surpass the wild catch in
2021. In time I also expect that aquaculture economics will also force the
wild fishery to contract and rationalize. In fact that has been happening
in many subtle ways.
In the long term, all f... more »

Understanding Student Weaknesses
The take home of course, is that it is necessary to listen to the
students as they struggle with the new concepts been presented. That will
flush out already established error. From that starting point, the teacher
then has a chance to be effective.
Whenever we set out to change a paradigm in people's thinking, it is the
same problem. They already have a satisfactory solution in hand that they
have no reason to question. Electricity flowing like water is a great idea
and works very well. It just has zero connection to physical reality.

It is nice to know that we have a theory of time? Yet a crystal that is
apparently stable at the ground state is interesting as it is neither

load free rotation. It is certainly not free energy.
I wonder how it might behave in low gravity.
I have not found anyone doing high level research on gravity and time
using a pure empirical approach without the built in assumptions of our
theory. If you are aware of such I could use a... more »
‘Dramatic decline’ warning for plants and animals – ‘Climate change will greatly reduce the diversity of even very common species found in most parts of the world’

could see a serious decline in their habitat range because of climate
change.
New research suggests that biodiversity around the globe will be
significantly impacted if temperatures rise more than 2C.
But the scientists say that the losses can be reduced if rapid action is
taken to curb greenhouse gases.

The Truth Is Where You Find It
Many critics of the current, false, climate consensus (on "global warming",

drift) as an example of a once-heretical idea that overcame the former
consensus to become the central idea of all the earth sciences today. Steven

based upon my own, much more "heretical" research findings:
*The bottom line is, truth is where you find it, not where everyone else is

America is beginning to recover from the crisis which rocked the world

The crisis that is about to break out involves student debt and how we

Americans on the bottom rungs of the ladder strive to climb up, they are
