June Blogs I'm Following - 11

June 11: And so, good night.

Graeme Decarie at The Decarie Report - 2 days ago
A reader, noting my interest in the Koch brothers, sent along this item about a news station in Georgia. I takes a pretty blunt look at what has happened to the U.S. (and, to a considerable degree, to Canada.) It's about the crash of democracy, the rampant corruption of government, and the murderous behaviour of very greedy people like the Koch brothers. We need to take this a lot more seriously than we do. The behaviour of these people is the reason why millions of have been killed, millions more have fled their homes, and even more are starving. It's the reason why, in the riches... more »

*Detroit Free Press Editor Calls For Murder Of GOP Lawmakers* The Pulitzer prize-winning editorial page editor of the Detroit Free Press has called for the murder of Michigan lawmakers with whom he disagrees. The reason? The lawmakers voted for legislation that would give parents more choices to avoid Michigan’s failing public schools. Detroit’s public schools are failing academically and nearly insolvent, the New York Times wrote in January. The Detroit News wrote in March that “the statewide opinion of K-12 education is downright ugly.” That poll showed residents didn’t think th... more »

Have You Noticed Trump Is A Fraud As A Businessman Too?

Early Thursday morning Trump was tweeting. "Crooked Hillary Clinton will be a disaster on jobs, the economy, trade, healthcare, the military, guns and just about all else. Obama plus!" Something tells me he's just stoking the lizard-brains of the Trumpist base, not seriously thinking he can win over any new converts to his cause. Just hours before, Adam Davidson, writing for the *NY Times'* "On Money," warned low-info voters who think they know who Trump is based on his reality TV show and his carefully crafted glitzy appearances, that the man is a con. Both *Newswatch *on BBC One/the BBC New Channel and Radio 4's *Feedback *tackled viewer/listener complaints about the BBC's heavily extensive coverage of the death of Muhammad Ali. The oxygen atoms produce the blue-green hue that seems to enshroud the detailed folds and filaments. Visible within the nebula, NGC 6888's central star is classified as a Wolf-Rayet star (WR 136). Trump University Isn't The Only For-Profit College Scam Defrauding Students-- Guest Post By Annette Taddeo

DownWithTyranny at DownWithTyranny! - 2 days ago
Going to college, getting an education, and having a career is part of the American Dream many people strive for. However, today this is becoming less of a reality for so many aspiring students. For-profit colleges have crept into the mainstream of higher education and taken advantage of students. They charge high tuition fees and provide little in return. These “colleges” use a classic bait and switch strategy targeted at unsuspecting students. They lure in students expecting to learn, improve their lives, and get a job but instead of degrees, students receive costly excuses and a... more »

I suppose that many of you who visit my blog get most of your news from the US "mainstream media," which constantly reports military and propaganda provocations against Russia. Here, Paul Craig Roberts asks the question: “What if the Russians believe us? What if we convince Russia that we are going to attack her?” Well, from extensive reading of non-mainstream media, I have learned that Vladimir Putin is not a monster, and that he plans to attack no one but ISIS in Syria. That is, until NATO completes its anti-nuclear-missile installations in Eastern European countries surrounding Russia …which would put Russia in true danger. So, like the Minute Men at Bunker Hill, Putin won't shoot until he sees the whites of the eyes of those who plan to attack Mother Russia. However, whereas the Minute Men fully expected the arrival of the Red Coats, the US continues to pretend that their illegal planting of anti-nuclear-weapons in Russia's front yard is only defensive. While Putin is still hoping for peace, he is neither dumb nor indecisive. He has made it clear that as soon as the first of NATO's anti-nuclear-missile instalations surrounding Russia becomes operational, Russia will destroy it. And another thing you might not know is that Russian weapons are decades ahead of those of the US. So, if the neocons in charge in Washington decide to start a nuclear war with Russia, not just Bunker Hill, but all of the US will be flattened. In the words of Pogo, a comic strip character if my youth: "We have met the enemy, and they are us." Wake up, America, before it’s too late!

A Canadian court has awarded $13 million in non-diplomatic assets seized from Iran to the families of Americans who died in terror activities allegedly sponsored by Tehran. The ruling follows in the footsteps of the US Supreme Court who in April upheld a judgment allowing families of victims of alleged Iranian-sponsored terrorism to collect nearly $2 billion in compensation. The judgment by the Superior Court of Justice in Ontario, found Iran responsible for financing and training Hamas and Hezbollah operatives, who carried out eight bombings or hostage-takings in Buenos Aires, Isra... more »
