Not bashing Sir Alan
In contrast, the BBC's account of Boris's Remain-backing deputy Sir Alan Duncan claim that working class voters threw "a tantrum" during the Brexit vote is given the softest treatment by the BBC News website. Tom Harris and Madhav Khandekar The 2017 North Atlantic hurricane season has the climate change alarmists out in full force. The Last of the Nomads
Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce you to Yatungka and her husband Warri, the last two Mandildjara people to live in the traditional way on the Western Gibson Desert of Australia. William Peasley wrote their saga in *The Last of the Nomads*. Aborigines have one of the oldest continuous cultures on Earth. They have lived in Australia for at least 40,000 years, some say 60,000. Nomads first inhabited the more fertile regions, leaving the deserts for later. Folks have lived in the Gibson for maybe 20,000 years. Most readers, if dropped off in the Gibson, naked, wi... more »

Neoliberalism and the Battle of Ideas
If you want to see the problems of the Tory party encapsulated, watch Boris Johnson's conference speech. For the first and perhaps the only time, the faithful turned out in large numbers to listen to the man who would be king expend a great deal of words saying nothing in particular. But there is one thing our fatuous foreign secretary did touch on, which marked "Call me" Philip Hammond's speech yesterday, has cast a shadow over the depleted fringes and will haunt Theresa May's tomorrow, and that is the idea of loss. It's not just the election, it's the yawning real... more »
The Life and Adventures of William Buckley
William Buckley was born in Cheshire, England in 1780. He was trained to be a bricklayer, but the monotonous work bored him. He joined the militia and was a soldier for four years. Then, he met some scruffy lads, and got busted for receiving stolen property. In 1803, he was rewarded for his mischief with a one-way nine-month pleasure cruise to a luxurious resort for white trash in Middle of Nowhere, Australia. He never saw his family again. It was not a high security penal colony, because fleeing into the vast wilderness was essentially suicide. In just three months the pr... more »

"When life itself seems lunatic, who knows where madness lies? Perhaps to be too practical is madness. To surrender dreams - this may be madness. To seek treasure where there is only trash. Too much sanity may be madness - and maddest of all: to see life as it is, and not as it should be!" - Miguel de Cervantes in "Man of La Mancha"

John Kasich Wouldn't Have To Deny He's About To Become An Independent, If He Wasn't Considering It
Did you watch Ohio Governor John Kasich on *State of the Union* with Jake Tapper Sunday? There's a short clip above you should watch. He was railing against the Trump-Bannon wing-- "if the party can't be fixed, Jake, then I’m not going to be able to support the party. Period. That’s the end of it. I mean, I’m worried about our country and my kids’ future. I am worried about it. But have I given up? Of course not." Tapper interrupts his ad for Brian Sandoval by asking him if "giving up on the party" means he's talking about "possibly becoming an independent." Kasich *almost* slips.... more »

Man Finds Fascinating Native American Trail Marker Along Chattahoochee River
While exploring in the woods, this man came across a strangely-bent tree. The mysterious tree is actually a trail marker made by Native Americans over 200 years ago! The man was hiking in the woodlands along the Chattahoochee River in Georgia, when he spotted the abnormally-shaped tree on the hillside and explains that it was possibly made by the Creek Indians over 200 years ago as a trail marker. These trees are unique because they are bent in very unnatural angles. Some trees are just weirdly-shaped, but there's something special about these bent trees. Mysterious bent trees ar... more »

5 Times the U.S. Navy Was 'Sunk' in Battle
*James Holmes* *Security, * The worst defeats ever. *As Mahan and Theodore Roosevelt contended in their histories of the conflict, the early republic erred grievously by failing to construct a battle fleet of, say, twenty 74-gun capital ships able to command America’s near seas. Though inferior in numbers to the Royal Navy in overall numbers, such a fleet could have cut ties between the British Isles and the Caribbean—imperiling British interests there, and thus perhaps deterring war altogether. Globally inferior—locally superior.* It’s crucial to remember and learn from defeat... more »
“Multiple Shooters? How the Shooting in Las Vegas Unfolded”
“Multiple Shooters? How the Shooting in Las Vegas Unfolded” Something’s not right with the Paddock story. Listen closely and you can hear gunfire in the distance while the shots fired near the camera are much louder. And yet, just a small percentage ever choose to protect themselves. They will allow themselves authorized protection,... more »
EPA endangerment finding endangers USA
The U.S. Supreme Court fell for junk science when it approved the EPA's "finding" that carbon dioxide is the chief driver of global climate change, notes CFACT advisor Dennis T. Avery. The EPA models have all been proven false using historical and current data, and thus there is no scientific underpinning for this jobs-killing, energy-crushing decision. The hope is that, with Justice Neil Gorsuch now on the bench, the Court will overturn its own "Endangerment" finding.

Looks like I was right about the terrorist drone threat
In August I warned that at least some of the "close encounters of the drone kind" experienced at and near US airports recently were probably caused by terrorists. I went on to point out that they had successfully used unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV's) in attacks overseas, and that I expected the same to happen here. Now comes this testimony to Congress from the FBI. Wray issued a stark warning about the growing danger of drone and cyber terror. Terrorists want to use drones to drop grenade-sized explosives, toxins, or other harmful substances on Americans, just as they have done a... more »

Despite methyl hydrates being found globally and mostly along continental shelves, they are different from conventional natural gas and not used for energy production by any country. They are, however, vulnerable to slight changes in temperature, making methyl hydrates a potentially dangerous substance to extract. Previous research suggested that the gas was released from hydrates during earlier climatic events and may have sped up global warming. But this new review determined the amounts released were trivial. That’s because what gets unlocked either remains in seafloor depos...
