China Pondering Declaring An ADIZ Over The South China Sea
*Voice of America: **China Ponders ADIZ in Disputed Sea* TAIPEI — A Chinese state institution warned this week that Beijing is ready to set up an air defense identification zone (ADIZ) over the contested South China Sea, giving it the authority to screen foreign aircraft. But analysts say any enforcement would anger other countries without deterring traffic. That measure would follow a series of steps to control the movement of foreign ships in the same sea, underlining China's intent to hold its vast maritime claims after a world court tribunal ruled in July that it lacked a leg... more »

There Are Going To Be Special Elections Coming Up-- Here's One In L.A. For Xavier Becerra's Seat
*CA-34-- Perez and Gomez* Xavier Becerra was first elected to Congress in 1992 and, until yesterday he was the 4th-ranking Democrat in the House leadership. He's a generally liberalish guy, charismatic, polished, more often on the side of the angels than the rest of the House leadership. Coincidental with his last day as Democratic Party Caucus Chair, Jerry Brown appointed him to fill the Attorney General vacancy created by Kamala Harris' election to the U.S. Senate. Attorney General is probably the second most important state job in California, after governor. From what I'm hearing... more »

Pizzagate: BBC Cover Up Another Huge Pedophile Scandal
The BBC are the last organization on earth that should be weighing in on a pedophile scandal, but the state-sponsored outlet with a shameful history of covering up elite pedophile scandals has declared Pizzagate “fake news” and dismissed the scandal as “the fake story that shows how conspiracy theories spread.” That would be the same BBC who covered up their star presenter Jimmy Savile’s decades of extreme pedophilia until as late as 2012 – only relenting and acknowledging the scandal after it was forced into the open by independent investigators. Just this year Dame Janet Smith’s... more »

That power belongs to no one else. In particular, it doesn’t belong to the State. The State will try, will always try to suggest that it is granting power to the individual, but this is a lie. To take a realistic attitude toward life and death meant that one lapsed into unreality. Into insanity. It was ironic that the only way to keep one's sanity was to ignore that one was in an insane world or to act as if the world were sane." - Philip José Farmer

LOSERS: Coming next week, "Comeyed again!"

We've added a week of "Losers" reports to our earlier "Teabagged" series. Next week, we'll offer a series which bears this working title: "Comeyed (again)." We're inclined to agree with Kevin Drum. We think James B. Comey's intrusion on the White House campaign may well have swung its outcome. For that reason, it's important to see how we fiery liberals dealt with the actions of this powerful insider god. More specifically, it's important to ... more »
Einstein's boxes: measurements don't occur "spontaneously"
Florin Moldoveanu discusses a thought experiment – but be sure that it may be turned into a real experiment – called "Einstein's box" (although it's not "the" famous Einstein's box setup from the Bohr-Einstein debates). Are Einstein's Boxes an argument for nonlocality? It seems unbelievable that an undergraduate problem that is so rudimentary is being "solved" incorrectly by the author of a book on foundations quantum mechanics as well as Moldoveanu himself. The problem is the following: A quantum mechanical particle is located in a box. The wave function \(\psi(x,y,z)\) isn't speci... more »

They also voted to extend a state tax surcharge on the wealthy, and adopt local housing and transportation measures along with a slew of local tax increases and bond proposals. The F-22 Is What Gives The U.S. An Edge Over Russia and China
U.S. Air Force *Business Insider*: *The US's military edge over Russia and China has come down to one plane* Since World War II, the US has dominated the skies in any region in which it wishes to project power — but recent competition from countries like Russia and China threaten to erode that edge, and only a small group of elite pilots maintain the US's edge in air superiority. Will Durant On The Rediscovery Of Aristotle
Will Durant’s *The Story of Philosophy* has a good concise account of Aristotle’s life and ideas. It is true that Aristotle is such a vast subject and Durant has barely skimmed the surface, but in my opinion Durant has provided a good overview. Here’s an excerpt from *The Story of Philosophy* where Durant is talking about the rediscovery of Aristotle in Europe: It may be doubted if any other thinker has contributed so much to the enlightenment of the world. Every later age has drawn upon Aristotle, and stood upon his shoulders to see the truth. The varied and magnificent culture o... more »

Historian: Queen Elizabeth Descended From Long Line Of Cannibals
Queen Elizabeth and the Royal Family are descended from a long line of cannibals. British royals have long been famed for their love of lavish banquets and rich recipes. But a British historian has conclusively proved that Queen Elizabeth’s ancestors also had a taste for human flesh. A new study on medicinal cannibalism has revealed that British royalty were openly dining on parts of the human body as recently as the 19th century, and there are suggestions the practice went underground after that. The author adds that cannabalism was not a practice reserved for monarchs but was wi... more »

The Poet: Rolf Jacobsen, "When They Sleep"
*"When They Sleep"* "All people are children when they sleep. There's no war in them then. They open their hands and breathe in that quiet rhythm heaven has given them. They pucker their lips like small children and open their hands halfway, soldiers and statesmen, servants and masters. The stars stand guard and a haze veils the sky, a few hours when no one will do anybody harm. If only we could speak to one another then when our hearts are half-open flowers. Words like golden bees would drift in. God, teach me the language of sleep." - Rolf Jacobsen, "The Roads Have Come to an End Now"

The idea that we have to suffer or live in poverty in order to be spiritual is an old one and can be found in the belief systems of many philosophies. Most of us carry this idea around subconsciously, and we may be holding ourselves back from financial or emotional well-being, believing that this is what we must do in order to be virtuous, spiritually awake, or feel less guilty for the suffering of others. Mainstream Media Caught Covering Up Pizzagate Scandal
Social media is currently being rocked by one of the biggest pedophile scandals in modern history, which the mainstream media is choosing to ignore. “Pizzagate” threatens to rock the very foundations of the U.S. political system as it implicates some of the most powerful and influential politicians of our age. The scandal first erupted on social media sites such as Reddit and 4Chan, in the early days of the recent U.S. elections. Why Trump Tower Baku Suddenly Disappeared From Trump's Website
Do the Trump family's shady business dealings with criminal elements throughout the world, jeopardize American national security? And was this too complicated and vaguely abstract for the mainstream media to dig into during the election campaign? His tweets yesterday about separating himself from his business is utterly meaningless.
