I think we need a new constitution. There is so much that is simply
antiquated and outdated. For one, when the "two Senators per state" rule
was created, the states were smaller and closer together. I think
California deserves four Senators. The electoral college was a good idea

Has It Sunk In Yet?
I'm not a betting man but had I bet, it would have been for Hillary-- and
the odds being offered would have been terrible for the bettor-- and I was
tempted to buy stocks when I saw them collapsing last night. That would
have been a losing bet, too. Dow Futures were down 750 points at one point.
But, today, they are trading in a normal range as the uncertainty of what a

I voted GREEN. I have been alienated from the Democratic Party's neoliberal
and neoconservative alignments, but I never anticipated Hillary Clinton

I'm hopeful Trump will de-escalate relations with Russia, but that is the

I went to bed early last night knowing that I'd wake up about 2 am. And
wake up around 2 am I duly did.
I watched BBC One's coverage for a couple of hours, rested my eyes for an
hour, then watched a couple of hours more before having to go to work, thus
missing the long-awaited Pennsylvania result.
It felt like the night of 23 June all over again.
I had my eye on the ever-busy *Going Postal* comments as I watched, many of
which chimed well with my own impressions of the BBC's coverage.

Christie know about the lane closings to the George Washington Bridge?
Did he *approve* the lane closings? Did he know the closings were intended
as political retribution against the mayor of Fort Lee?
Because of the apparent overt stupidity of the plan, we've always found it
hard to believe that Christie would have been involved. The plan created

I confess to despair watching the U.S. election results last night. I
turned off the television before 9:30 p.m., knowing Donald Trump would win
but thinking I'd sleep better if there was the faint hope of a different
outcome. (I didn't.) My partner refused to watch any of the coverage,
choosing to work and play accordion while instructing me not to share any
information.
I'm not usually deeply invested in election results, beyond a desire to see
governments punished for bad, corrupt or insulting behaviour. There are

There was bleak, threatening mood music accompanying an item by pro-EU BBC
veteran Allan Little, and his piece didn't hesitate to draw links between
the "fear" felt by Trump supporter and Brexit supporters ("from western
Pennsylvania to Brexit Britain") or to make some familiar 'Remoaner' points:
It is a revolt too against governing elites - people perceived to have done
well out of the globalised economy.
