Tim Canova Has A Progressive Vision For South Florida And For America
Tonight Bernie won all 4 congressional districts in the Kansas caucuses. Statewide, the vote was 67.7% to 32.3% and he won 23 delegates to the conservative establishment candidate's 10. In Nebraska, Bernie took 55.1% to Clinton's 44.9%, 14 delegates for him and 10 for her. In Louisiana, Hilary won a name recognition primary in one of the most poorly educated states in the country and took 35 deluges to Bernie's 10. Down in South Florida, as far as I can tell, there were two things that inspired Tim Canova to run for the congressional seat that's been long held by entrenched corru... more »
Bernie Isn't Inevitable-- But Neither Is The Status Quo Establishment Candidate
British journalists, presumably Jeremy Corbyn enthusiasts, seem a hell of a lot more excited about Bernie's political revolution that the corporate political journalists based in this country. But before we get into the work of a British journalist who's following Bernie around the country and reporting on his campaign for U.K. readers, one quick look at a decidedly *un*-corporate American perspective, from our old pal, Russ Baker from Who.What.Why. This week he reported on the role of the Clinton Machine and it's media allies in keeping the African American vote in a pre-ordained ... more »

Locating a Fictional Superhero City
Gotham City. Metropolis. Central City. Star City. Coast City. Opal City. DC Comics has a number of fictional cities in the United States. As a counterpoint, Marvel Comics tends to use real cities, though it does have its share of fictional nations such as Latveria and Wakanda. As I work out a superhero setting I have to confess to preferring the DC Comics method. I'm the type of person who likes "getting things right" and setting a game in a city can put me into a research loop. To be sure, it's a mental block on my part. "The Revenge of the Lower Classes and the Rise of American Fascism”
*"The Revenge of the Lower Classes and the Rise of American Fascism”* by Chris Hedges "College-educated elites, on behalf of corporations, carried out the savage neoliberal assault on the working poor. Now they are being made to pay. Their duplicity- embodied in politicians such as Bill and Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama- succeeded for decades. These elites, many from East Coast Ivy League schools, spoke the language of values- civility, inclusivity, a condemnation of overt racism and bigotry, a concern for the middle class- while thrusting a knife into the back of the underclass ... more »

Campaign watch: Colbert King doesn't want to generalize!
*SATURDAY, MARCH 5, 2016Proceeds to throw A-bomb around:* It's important to understand one key point: The Washington Post's Colbert King doesn't want to generalize! More specifically, he doesn't want to generalize about the nation's Trump voters. We know King doesn't want to do that because he tells us so. He says so early in his weekly column in today's Washington Post: KING (3/5/16): A stipulation: *It would be unfair and dishonest to paint all Trump supporters with the same brush.* That heartfelt stipulation comes early in King's piece. But uh-oh! After presenting his stip... more »

U.S. Planning ‘Large Scale’ Operation In Libya Using Faulty Intelligence
The Pentagon is drawing up plans for a large scale air assault on ISIS forces in Libya based on faulty and overestimated intelligence reports. Top Washington officials and analysts warn against military escalation in Libya, saying that it is based on overblown estimates of the Islamic State’s strength and would in fact add more fuel to the jihadists’ fire. They say it is reminiscent of the disastrous decision to invade Iraq in 2003 which was based on faulty intelligence. That decision consequently led to the birth of ISIS in the Middle East and its expansion into north Africa. The T... more »

Of course, they don't flaunt their depraved cowardice in quite that way. They've magnanimously dropped their previous claim of "attorney-client privilege," for instance. A Tale of Two Programmes
It's good to see that some BBC One viewers found the channel's reporting from Calais and the Greek-Macedonian border to be as biased as I found it to be last Monday. This week's *Newswatch *had a small chorus of complaints about it. The first concerned the report by Danny Savage, which I also took issue with : The reporter made a very big issue about a man in a blue coat being hit by a CS gas canister fired by the authorities. However, he completely failed to mention that the same man, moments before being hit by the canister, was hurling a missile *[actually, two missiles] *at t... more »

How The U.S. Army Influenced What Is Now Being Sold In Our Supermarkets
*Matthew Zuras, VICE News*: *How the US Army Influences Almost Everything in the Supermarket* Someone—maybe Napoleon, maybe Alexander the Great—once said that an army marches on its stomach. And why shouldn’t it? Starving troops have more pressing priorities than winning battles. The US military knows this well, and it’s been spearheading food science research for well over a century in order to build the world’s most efficient army. But the countless innovations it’s developed are hardly confined to the canteen—in fact, we can find them in every supermarket in America, and even ... more »
Tramping against Trump - and Brexit
Last night's *Newsnight *was quite something. They really went after Hillary Clinton. First John Sweeney did a take-down of Hillary. He chucked everything he could at her: from Whitewater to the Clinton Foundation, rows over the money she gets for speeches, Sidney Blumenthal, Benghazi, her private email server, possible conflicts of interest among her advisors, her State Department emails, etc. Various anti-Hillary hacks and lawyers acted as his 'talking heads'. Then Emily Maitlis went to speak to Hillary-inclined voters in a small town in Louisiana. Her main 'talking head', how... more »

Lost Tapes Reveal Apollo Astronauts Heard Unexplained ‘Music’ On Far Side Of The Moon
Most likely this sound was produced by their own equipment. Yet it was also never replicated either. It is plausible that a device on the moon was broadcasting and the alien operators, been taken by surprise shut down the hardware and then made sure there was no repeat. Or they entered a stray stream of magnetized particles and replicated the Saturn effect. It is now 57 years later and our explanations have not resolved it. If anything the alien question is becoming better supported. Too many good men have stepped forward to report such a presence to be ove... more »
Canada's Wild Rice Wars?
This is just the beginning of wild rice. Canada has millions of acres of fresh water lakes, all needing directed husbandry and wild rice is a natural component and should be encouraged. For the same reason we need to encourage a virtuous fishing cycle that maximizes summer fish mass that is then harvested to allow remnant survival over winter. Yet all this needs governmental oversight and regulatory support. That allows it to be also commercially viable. Let us start with a marketing cooperative supported by government that actually licensees harvest grow areas and handle... more »
Fantasy North
The north has fired imaginations for generations as well it should. It is the one place on Earth that is utterly unforgiving if you fail to prepare well and learn your life way. When the weather is against you, every error can be a death sentence. Other terrain areas are dangerous but survival is usually easily arranged. Not so in the north where you must put up fuel a half year ahead at a real expense in mobility. Yet the peoples were always robust as well. *Fantasy North* *The top of the globe has always meant fantasy, myth, adventure. What explains the ... more »
Extraterrestial Contacts With Peoples of the Americas
This is an extremely important piece of information. This descibes contact that included sharing of information and the creation of a new alphabet as well as mathematics unusual to Europeans. Better yet we have a lot of the data. And yes we need to find the mathematics in order to compare it to Bronze age methods. Europeans by this time were using scopes to assist in surveying work and this altered the approach somewhat. Long accurate sighting lines allow infilling which was much more tricky with eyesight alone and short distances. Regardless, it all needs a system of sy... more »
