Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan have killed at least 22 security force
members in an ambush in Sar-e-Pol province north of Kabul, officials say.
The Taliban attacked from the mountains as the convoy was travelling
through Laghman valley, officials say, and at least 22 insurgents were also
killed.
The Sar-e-Pol provincial governor said that a number of security force
vehicles were destroyed.
Earlier a civilian was killed in a suicide bomb attack in Kabul.

Greek rebel dog. Somewhere along the way, English-language media dubbed him Riot
Dog. He was also called Louk, short for Loukanikos. Louk, Kanellos, and

Whatever his name, he was brave, loyal, and handsome, and he stood on the
side of the People. His health was diminished by tear gas, but he soldiered
on. He died recently at the home of a person who cared for him. He was
thought to be about ten years old.

Why the F35 is a turkey in the Air
This being thanksgiving in Canada its most appropriate to make a new post
on what must be the biggest acquisition boondoggle in history.
The F35 is a princess in the hanger, who knows how much more expensive than
more capable aircraft but may be 40 to 50% more costly. The princess may
not be able to fly in the rain because of skin damage. Pilots may not get
to train because of the cost of flying. This may lead to dead pilots due to
sloppy skill, nothing gets you killed faster in a dogfight as the Americans

Quite a great walk from Rangeley to Phillips and when we arrived were
hosted to a great feed at the local community center that back in late
1800's to early 1990's was part of the local rail station that served as a
stop for tourists who took the train to Rangeley lake.

Four soldiers killed in Turkish army chopper crash

crash in the northwestern province of Kocaeli, the Turkish General Staff
announced late on Sunday.
The S-70B Sikorsky aircraft, which took off from the Cengiz Topel Military
Airport in Kocaeli, disappeared from radar after it lost connection with
its base at 12:25 Turkish local time.
The wreckage of the chopper has been located in a mountainous region in the
Kartepe district of Kocaeli province.

Modi approves 262 Israeli Barak-I missiles for navy

approval to the purchase of 262 Israeli Barak-I missiles for Indian Navy
which will provide further boost to its growing capabilities.

reasons that I hope are obvious, but I heard tell, from someone who's not
much of a TV-watcher, that it's not cashing in on the "selfie" craze but is
targeting it. So I glanced at the first couple of episodes -- not really

Fort Itaipu and Footnotes
I’ve been working on my new book, which is sort of a follow up to *Government
UFO Secrets* (notice that I’ve slipped the name of my last book into this)
and I have been doing something that I don’t think is being done very much.
I’ve been chasing footnotes again. This means as I research a case, looking
for all the information available on it, I attempt to return to the
original source as much as possible. One way of doing that is look at the
footnotes in other books to see where they gathered the information.

Adventures in Canning: Butternut Squash...
*enough for a winter and spring worth of butternut soup.*
We love butternut squash soup. I make some with apples and ginger, and
some with curry. An addition of some cream cheese makes it extra special
creamy. Before serving a splash of extra dry sherry is nice.
Butternut squash can be cured and successfully stored for up to 6 months in
a cool dark place like a basement. We don't have a basement and the barn
would be too cold, so canning is my only real choice.
The store had a great deal at 25 cents per pound on winter squash. Not

Second Day of Peace Walk
Our second day of the peace walk took us from Rangeley to Phillips where
local hosts have organized a three-soup pot luck for us. It is more than
amazing to see the beauty of the Rangeley lakes area and I can't wait to
come back to enjoy the nature in this place.
Three peace women from Farmington found us mid-day and walked the remaining
distance to Phillips. We walked a total of 12 miles today. It's 19 miles
to Farmington from Phillips but we will only walk 16 miles tomorrow - got
