Farewell Frankie Knuckles
I was hoping it was a cruel April Fool's joke when I saw it on Twitter this
morning. Unfortunately, no. I am gutted that Frankie Knuckles - a man
weighing in at just 59 years of age - has been cruelly snatched away. For
the non-dance people who frequent these parts, to house music he was the
Beatles, Black Sabbath and ABBA combined, except more important than that.
He arguably *invented* the genre that paved the way for the world
domination of dance music. It's an awful, awful shame that Frankie has died
so young.
What better way to remember his immortal legacy by chewing your way ... more »

They were watching Reliable Sources, the famous channel’s weekly show about
the work of the press corps. In our view, Brian Stelter, the program’s new

Good lord! Stelter even spent the first segment asking if CNN has perhaps

“Early in Claire Messud's new novel, “The Woman Upstairs”, the narrator
asks herself and others whether they would rather be able to fly or be
invisible. I suspect most who visit this blog would prefer to fly. Me too.
Until lately. More on that later. For now I want to ask a less frivolous
question, one more likely to split down the middle: Do you prefer, as a
matter of personal taste, Romanesque or Gothic?
Gothic aspires, Romanesque inspires. Gothic soars. Romanesque hunkers.
Gothic seeks to let go of the earth. Romanesque grips like a barnacle.

Still, the official statement of the American intelligence community

Neither Democrat running against Staten Island Mafia thug Michael "Mikey

The Eisenhower Briefing Document, MJ-12, and the Del Rio UFO Crash
I have argued for years that the Eisenhower Briefing Document (EBD) is not
authentic. I have argued that it was created in the early to mid-1980s
because the information contained in it reflected the UFOlogical thought of
that time. The one paragraph that seemed to prove that more than any other
was the one referring to the December 6, 1950 crash near El Indio –
Guerrero area of northern Mexico. I had suggested that this is the sighting
made by Robert Willingham and that we know that he has changed so much of
the information about it that it is clear that it never happened.

What's Really Driving NHS Costs?
Let's get one thing straight from the off. The idea of charging a £10/month
NHS "membership fee" is bloody stupid. Not just because it violates the
principle that health provision should take place, but for a whole host of
other practical reasons. But let's glide Lord Warner's suggestion into a
lay-by for the moment and deal with the concern he aims to address: that
the NHS budget is spiralling out of control and something has to be done to
arrest it.
Well, no. The NHS is not "unsustainable". The UK consistently ranks as a
mid-table spender on health. But costs are increasing, and ... more »

Climate change is already having sweeping effects on every continent and

greenhouse emissions are brought under control.
The report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a United

*MONDAY, MARCH 31, 2014*
*Part 1—Zernike’s zombie idea:* In this morning’s New York Times, Paul
Krugman describes the process by which we get fed our “zombie ideas.”
Krugman discusses the bogus claim that there is a serious “skills gap”
afflicting our economy. He notes that there are quite a few other
influential bogus facts out there.
He calls these bogus facts “zombie ideas.”
According to Krugman—and we strongly agree—we may get fed these bogus facts
as an assertion of “tribal identity.” This is Krugman, speaking accurately:

How to Dress like a Manly Man
By Monique Bellamont - March 2014
Ack!
It is that word many "manly men" shy away from - *metrosexual*.
Which we women find silly because it reveals that many men are so
homophobic that they refuse to deal with anything that is remotely "gay".
As such men's high fashion has suffered over the decades to the point that
men really can only wear suits and uniforms. Anything too risque and they
feel they are being emasculated
However done right, men's high fashion doesn't have to look metrosexual.
What it should look like however is:
