The fact that we're still talking about Bitcoin seems to suggest that it
has some staying power.
However, Jamie Dimon believes its standing as a currency will eventually
end.
Dimon, who is the CEO of JP Morgan, spoke with CNBC's Andrew Ross Sorkin
about the so-called digital cryptocurrency. And he went on the attack.

Looks Like Huckabee Missed Those RNC Classes On How Republicans Should Talk To About The Ladies
This week, a 20-year old woman in Subalpur in West Bengal was sentenced to
be gang raped by the sick, deranged conservatives who run her village. The
village chief and the 13 rapists were arrested yesterday. After she
couldn't pay a 25,000 rupee fine ($459) for dating a Muslim man, the
village council decreed she be raped. She's in the hospital after the
brutal assault but has identified all 13 of her attackers.
Condemning the incident, a member of the National Commission for Women,
Nirmala Sawant Prabhavalkar, highlighted the plight of women in West Bengal
state and said that ju... more »
Holistic Living - A Definition
Since receiving your comments asking for posts on holistic living, I've
given the topic a lot of thought. While the way I live my life is holistic
in many ways, I've never really thought about it or considered it's
relationship to living green. To get us started, I'd like to share my
thoughts on what holistic living means to me. It is, by no means, the
absolute definition ... it is simply my definition and what I'll use as the
basis for future posts. Ready to explore the subject with me?

Frye Festival: Frye & McLuhan (Video)
*Wikipedia:*
Northrop Frye (July 14, 1912 – January 23, 1991) was a Canadian literary
critic and literary theorist, considered one of the most influential of the
20th century.
An international literary festival The Frye Festival, named in Frye's
honour, takes place every April in Moncton, New Brunswick.
An excerpt from, *"Northrop Frye, 78, Literary Critic, Theorist and
Educator, Is Dead"* by Peter B. Flint, The New York Times, January 25, 1991:
The professor, who tracked voluminous themes and images to the Old and New
Testaments, was hailed by many scholars and reviewers as the... more »
Former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, Paul Craig Roberts, and former Wall Street bond trader, Dave Kranzler, deduce how and why the Fed has been manipulating the price of gold, and they come to the stunning conclusion that the Fed has been stealing gold bullion loaned to them by foreign banks and selling it cheap to China. They further believe that the Fed has very little physical gold left, the selling of which has been the source of their cash to continue Quantitative Easing. When they finally run out of gold the "too big to fail" banks will fail anyway, and the currency markets will depreciate the dollar, making Chinese products much more costly for American consumers. Take heed America ...because you will not hear this from the "mainstream" media until it is too late.

Two step test for Summary Judgment
Hryniak v. Mauldin, 2014 SCC 7:
Summary judgment motions must be granted whenever there is no genuine issue
requiring a trial. There will be no genuine issue requiring a trial when
the judge is able to reach a fair and just determination on the merits on a
motion for summary judgment. This will be the case when the process (1)
allows the judge to make the necessary findings of fact, (2) allows the
judge to apply the law to the facts, and (3) is a proportionate, more
expeditious and less expensive means to achieve a just result.

Has economic mobility declined?
No, says a new paper by Raj Chetty et al.:
"We present new evidence on trends in intergenerational mobility in the
U.S. using administrative earnings records. We find that percentile
rank-based measures of intergenerational mobility have remained extremely
stable for the 1971-1993 birth cohorts....[C]hildren entering the labor

Anbar Before And After The Awakening Pt. IX: Sheikh Sabah Aziz Of The Albu Mahal
Sheikh Sabah al-Sattam Fahran al-Shurji Aziz is the primary sheikh of the
Albu Mahal tribe located in western Anbar that stretches into neighboring
Syria. After the 2003 invasion the tribe joined the insurgency to fight the
Americans and was actually allied with Al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI). In 2005 it
decided to turn on the Islamists for a number of reasons making it the
second tribe in the province to do so. Its revolt was short lived, however.

Undergrads discover closest supernova since 1980s

If you're an undergrad and you are being shown a telescope, watch
carefully. You may very well find one of the most important dots that
temporarily appears in the skies. The BBC was among the first ones that
informed the public about the new observation:
Nearby supernova dazzles astronomers
The supernova was spotted during a telescope class at the University of
London Observatory led by Steve Fossey who may be expected to lick enough
milk from the kids' discovery to build his own Milky Way. That's what I
call good luck. Since that time, the new supernova was... more »

Why Should Any Real Democrat Give Steve Israel DCCC Dues? His Agenda Is Antithetical To Real Democrats

It was an Inauguration Day like no other, as Democratic leaders upstaged

The Liberal Paradox
Tom Walkom writes this morning that the public celebration of Jean
Chretien's 80th birthday underscores the paradox which is the Liberal Party:
The Liberals are a paradox. They build institutions and then demolish them.
They insist they walk the middle line even when they don’t.
They pride themselves on their crafty pragmatism. But they can be fooled
time and time again by their own PR.
Consider what happened during Chretien's fifty years in politics:
He was lauded for being part of the Liberal government that, 50 years ago,
worked to build and expand the great social programs of... more »

Evidence of Potential Censorship of Tepco Cam and Strange Anomalies
Majia's Blog - 21 hours ago
I have pretty good evidence of potential censorship of the TEPCO cam, which
I watched for over 8 hours today while doing other work. (The TBS cam was
black all day)
On the TEPCO cam, hot gasses could be seen streaming UP the front of the
screen-all day. I realize weather conditions played a role in making those
hot gasses more visible. However, today's effects cannot all be explained
by weather conditions.
At one point a quick change in the image caught my eye. Look at these two
shots carefully. They were taken 7 minutes apart. The shot immediately

Neil Young Draws Blood from the Oil Sands Development
I never knew that. Neil got the CAPP to admit that even using their
maximum minimum spin on a daily basis the Oil Sands extraction creates half
the green house gases as all the cars in Canada. Thats sick!
I am for reasonable development of resources, but that number does not
sound reasonable. How much energy is produced on a daily bias by all those
cars? So a similar amount of energy is being used to produce just bitumen,
which then needs to be further refined? This sounds like a terribly
inefficient use of energy. At this point I think we should ask Norway what
to do!
