Protests In Istanbul: "Those Who Present Themselves As Conservatives Only Care About Profit Maximization"

DownWithTyranny at DownWithTyranny! - 7 minutes ago
Once a week I like to hike up to the top of the biggest peak in Griffith Park. It takes 2 hours but when you arrive, you have a 360 degree vista of Los Angeles. Griffith Park is one of the biggest urban parks in America-- 4,310 acres. I sometimes ask Roland if he thinks Angelenos will fight when the big developers finally get politicians corrupt enough to start allowing commercial development in the park. He thinks I'm crazy and that (commercial development) that would never happen. My first trip to Istanbul was early in 1969. It was a major resting spot on the Hippie Trail to In... more »

The recent storms have inflicted sufficient damage to Southern Man's summer (and soon to be full-time) employer that campus will be closed next week for repairs so rather than kicking off the summer session on Monday Southern Man has an unexpected week off which he will use that time to do some long-needed repairs to The Barn and try to finish the interior of The Woodshop. Last night's record deluge left Southern Land more or less submerged. Wolf Creek Lake was at record levels, high enough to put several feet of water in the future Fishing Pond. The future Garden Pond was also full of water. The Point was completely submerged. This picture was taken in the morning; by evening the water had risen to well beyond those woodpiles. Chicago anti-drone protest image credit: World Can't Wait/Flickr Madison Ruppert It’s business as usual despite President Barack Obama’spromised changes to the U.S. drone program, with drone strikes killing seven or eight suspected al Qaeda militants in southern Yemen. Yemen is the same country where U.S. citizens have been killed by the government without charge or trial, including a 16-year-old boy. Monsanto Concedes Defeat in the Face of Europe's Fierce Opposition to GMOs

Daisy Luther North America needs to take note: Europe has defeated the biotech giant by refusing to be contaminated with Monsanto’s GMO offerings and toxic farming methods. Monsanto announced that they will no longer continue to lobby for approval of its genetically modified seeds in Europe due to “low farmer demand.” Monsanto Germany’s spokeswoman, Ursula Luttmer-Ouazane, said, “We’ve understood that such plants don’t have any broad acceptance in European societies. Virtual life in the future Matrix

Mark Daniels at Global Political Awakening - 12 hours ago
image source Jon Rappoport Television news is already a form of virtual reality. The hypnotic flow of stories, the elite anchors with their easy air of knowing and authority, the absence of context, the bald lies, the false sense of unity/community between viewer and broadcaster. But it barely scratches the surface of the potential of the technology. The addiction of the viewer is a mere shadow of what it will be when he can live, for an hour a day, inside the news, selectively inhabit the environments, and experience what a non-human simulated anchor “knows.” That will no longer... more »

You always know when someone is a DCCC candidate if you get into a Q&A with them. The DCCC candidates don't A the Qs-- not if they're substantive, let alone controversial. Jay Stamper isn't running for a House seat, so he'd never have any chance to be brain-washed by the DCCC anyway. Instead, he's running for the U.S. Senate seat that Lindsey Graham is holding in South Carolina. Jay is an outspoken, very independent-minded guy. He really does represent the best of his state's politics. And Blue America has endorsed him. He sat down for a Q&A with us and I've shared it, word for wor... more »

Mrs. Lee Sheppard: Don't sign tax treaties - Escape from Europe... Here's why.

Yet, you should try and listen a few minutes only to get the hang of this theme: tax treaties to "sponsor" big money and forget about the people. That is what's going on in the world and much more. By now you know my stance.
