(Takepart.com) – On the southern edge of Louisiana, there is almost as much
water as land. You can't drive to anyone's house, you have to travel by
boat, and sometimes there are hours of water between neighbors. It takes a
special breed to make a home here, in the swamp, amongst the mosquitos and almost
annual hurricanes. But those who do call it home, love it. They see a

According to Krugman, the famous professors made an unfortunate claim in

According to Krugman, the professors “purported to identify a critical

drops off sharply.” For more detail, see yesterday’s report.

Conviction Of Fake Bomb Detector Maker In England Changes Nothing On The Ground In Iraq
British businessman Jim McCormick was recently sentenced to ten years in
prison for selling fake bomb detectors around the world. The ADE 651
devices were said to be able to find anything from explosives to people to
ivory several hundred meters away. Those bold claims along with the
instructions on how to use them should have warned any country or
organization about their effectiveness, but Iraq ended up being the largest
purchaser of the devices in the world. Several groups in Iraq had been
investigating the detectors since 2009, and a general in the Interior

Shrinking Discretionary Spending
We are increasingly moving toward a subscription lifestyle which bodes well
for some and could give others a few sleepless nights as consumers’
discretionary spending effectively shrinks.
Only last week we were discussing subscription models with a financial
industry expert, who informed us that it is being predicted that some 10%
of spending could be subscription based in the near future. That may sound
a small percentage but when we remove the must buys on rent, utilities,
food, clothing etc. it leaves little discretionary spending and that 10%

Syria’s access to the Internet was cut on Tuesday. *The most likely

Roosevelt as saviour?
President Franklin Roosevelt's "New Deal" has long been credited with

Will Syria Be Obama's Iraq?
McCain and Lindsey Graham aren't the only obsessive war-mongers urging
Obama to attack Syria. There are plenty-- and on both sides of the aisle.
So far the President has been urging caution and insisting on getting to
the bottom of the rumors being pushed out by practiced liars like McCain
and Graham as though they were gospel. Like the "proof" that nerve gas was
used. Perhaps it was... but who, exactly used it? Do we even know who the
"good guys" and who the "bad guys" are in this conflict? It would be
probably most prudent to assume that everyone involved wishes America ill.

Crown may not refuse stipulations to gain tactical advantage
R v. Procter (1991), 11 C.R. (4th) 200, 69 C.C.C. (3d) 436 (Man. C.A.) is a
useful source for the proposition that the Crown may not refuse

that such admissions must first be accepted by the Crown (Castellani v. The

[6] The appellant submits that the trial judge erred in ruling
that s. 258.6 did not apply because the respondents were not insurers
either as named defendants or by way of subrogation. The ruling was made
without either party having raised the issue. Further, had the issue been

submission, the appellant has tendered fresh evidence showing that the

Now This Is Getting Ridiculous: 7 Year Old Boy Suspended From School For Pretending A Pencil Is A Gun!
I have been struggling the last while to understand how our world has slid
down the slippery slope to insanity... This is especially true in our
modern so called "education system" and the absolutely ridiculous policies
of "zero tolerance"... What the hell has happened to having children be
children...
That is why I found this one particular story absolutely ridiculous and
disturbing... According to this article, from the website: News Forage, at
www.newsforage.com, it appears that a 7 year old boy was just recently

Citizen Hearing and Merrill Cook
When I read that former Congressman Merrill Cook from Utah, one of those
at the Citizen Hearing on Disclosure, had said, “I do not believe there has
been any strong, credible evidence of [alien visits] at this point but I do
think there has been some credible evidence of things that are unidentified
that had been flying about,” I was disappointed. But then I thought about
what he had said and realized that it was quite fair.

The Perfect Benghazi Article
Some of you might be thinking: I'm sure that there's not much to all the
conservative fuss about Benghazi, but I'm open to the possibility of some
Obama Administration malfeasance...I wish there was some way for me to
catch up on what Benghazi is really supposed to be about without having to
dive into the crazy.
Well, if that's you, then there's a Politico article now just for you. It's
from yesterday afternoon, and titled "Huckabee: Benghazi will drive Obama
from office."
It seems that, the Huck says, "as the information and facts begin to come

The demonstration, which is organized by Britain’s anti-monarchy campaign

Living Within Our Skin
It's a core tenet of our Western industrial/capitalist/democratic orthodoxy
that something in the range of 3% annual economic growth is the benchmark
of a healthy society. That's 3% *compounded* growth.
Now let's take a span of 50-years, roughly one adult lifetime. Let's say
the economy stood at 100X at the beginning of that period and grew at 3%
over that interval. By the end of that 50-years, what began as 100X would
have grown to 438X.
This is all great stuff if only our world, our planet, our biosphere was as
expansive and elastic that it could grow 4.38X every half century... more »

F22 Raptor...Unusable

An F-22 Raptor malfunctioned in mid-flight, leading to a crash that killed
its pilot, the Air Force went into damage-control mode. Gen. Norton

generator on his prized stealth jet — a system widely suspected of being
dangerously flawed — caused the crash. And even now that an internal
inquiry seems to contradict Schwartz, the Air Force is still blaming Capt.

Liberal Hack Economists Remain MIA (ACA Edition)
To return to an oldie but goody: it's still striking to me that no one has
jumped up to fill what appears to be a market opening for hack economists
on the liberal side. This comes to mind this time from the reaction of
economists, including liberal economists, to the sudden decrease in health
care inflation over the last few years. As Annie Lowrey reports:

the slowdown is unrelated to the recession, and might persist as the

I might as well mention the edition of HardTalk featuring Lord Patten,

programme sets out, per se, to give the interviewee a hard time so no use

with a good grilling because of his failure to wisely guide the BBC

The issue here is not that Sackur did his browbeating too well, or too
badly. It’s about the fact that amongst BBC types it’s a given that being

Reasons need not be elaborate in a brief trial
*R. v. P.S*. 2013 ONCA 297 is a useful source for the proposition that, in
brief trials, a trial judge's reasons need not be elaborate to be
sufficient:
[3] Second, the appellant argues that the trial judge failed to assess the
reliability of the testimony of Cormier and Joamie before accepting their
evidence. We do not agree with this argument. This was a short trial and,
in the circumstances of this case, it was unnecessary for the trial judge
to expressly analyze the reliability of the evidence of these two witnesses
before accepting it.
A Quiz To See How Badly Your Brain Is Infected By Zionism!
