I know that the New York State Republican Party had a golden age... but it
wasn't during the 20 years I lived in New York-- nor in the decades since.
Currently there isn't one statewide Republican elected official-- nor has
there been one since George Pataki. Last month, NY blogger Morgan Pehme
summed up the party's dilemma pretty well.
Election Day in 2012 was one of the bleakest in the history of the New York
State Republican Party.
Propelled by an Obama landslide in New York—the president’s best showing in
any state except Vermont and Hawaii-- the Democrats trounced their

A lot of scary things happened at the 60s protests. People were killed more
than once, in many places, but for some reason the deaths of the Kent State
Four always felt the most tragic. Maybe it's because those kids were
peaceful and innocent bystanders died at the hand of panicked law
enforcement.
Will Bunch wrote the best Kent State retrospective today. Not sure I agree
with him that it marked the spiritual end of the era. Think its demise was
more gradual and ongoing. Like most movements, the hippie peace era was
slowly strangled by grifters and o... more »
The Criminals In Israel/US/NATO Could Not Get Their War On Syria Going By Clandestine Methods, So Now They Are Taking The More Direct Approach: Israel Bombing Syria!
Today, I am really sickened to see that the long planned war on Syria by
the criminals in the United States, Israel, and NATO may finally happen....
It does seem that according to this report from Reuters News Service at
www.reuters.com, that the Israelis are carrying out bombing missions
against targets in Damascus, Syria, causing explosions in the capital
itself...And the Syrian government is correctly blaming the sick criminals
in Israel for these horrendous unprovoked attacks.... First here is that

Our homegrown crackpot radio hosts are a greater danger than foreign
terrorists. I mean, what could possibly go wrong with this asinine plan?
Libertarian activist and radio host Adam Kokesh is hoping to get 1,000
people to march on Washington on July 4 — armed with loaded rifles. The
plan, launched with a Facebook group today, is to gather on the Virginia
side of the Potomac, where gun laws are lax, and then march across the
bridge with loaded rifles slung over their shoulders into the District,
where openly carrying weapons is generally prohibited.

“Suicide rates among middle-aged Americans have risen sharply in the past

A ship struck a barge fleet early Friday on the Mississippi River near

In addition, a team from the Coast Guard is inspecting the shoreline and so

We're certainly not having anything like Clinton's peace-and-prosperity

in American political life is (and for some time has been) the intransigent
extremism of the Republican Party.
Whatever the punditocracy may imagine, there is no way for Obama to force
his agenda on the Republicans in the House and the Senate, who range from
scheming partisans like Mitch McConnell and Eric Cantor to Tea Party
zealots like Ted Cruz and Michele Bachmann. Unlike Abraham Lincoln or
Lyndon Johnson, the two brilliant ma... more »

Plant Human Symbiosis
There are plenty of speculation and great leaps here but what it all comes
to is a reworking of the Garden of Eden Paradigm. Yet that is where we are
going in this blog’s teachings on terraforming terra.
Our challenges are real:
1 Create a global middle class economy. We are two
generations out on this. The derivative will be a generally free society
evolving out of all that. It would be nice to plan it in than to do it the
hard way.
2 Implement the global model farm community been
developed here. This provides a natural optimal ... more »
Mayan Foundation Established
Once again we have pinned down the 1159 BC date which coincides with the
Atlantean Subsidence.
Conjecture: Traders based on the coast established a new civilization to
replace the lost Atlantean civilization directly to the East on the Cuban
Arc. Other communities did the same and generally took up lands previously
ignored. Yucatan was one such.
Recall we have sunken pyramids at a depth of six thousand feet.
For now we have zeroed it in to 1159 BC which is joining other prospective
sites. After Atlantis sank, returning seamen would have run for the nearest

Earth's Core 1,000 Degrees Hotter Than Expected
This is information that matters because we can now determine melt points
for other elements at similar pressures. All molecules disassociate down
there and proper modeling needs accurate transition points.
Recall that the key element at the final point of disassociation will be
elemental carbon and I suspect that we actually have a working layer of it.
Thus our diamond pipes are really carbon pipes rapidly burning their way
upward. This also establishes a natural slip plane for the crust itself and
allows the crust itself to remain in permanent balance.
It is also ... more »
Islam Coexists?
This is a reminder that Islam is fanaticism at its worst. Individual
Muslims usually retain the verities of civilized conduct, but they are
clearly never supported in this by their religion. And inasmuch as religion
is truth, cutting your throat is acceptable.
The unenviable result has been a low level trickle of fanatic killing.
Boston is just one more totally lacking any sense of command and control.
Yet we are expected to accept just this.
There are appropriate responses that begin with confronting Islam and
demanding that they bring their teachings into conformity ... more »
RepubliCONs Incessant Drivel

ISRAEL INCREASES PROVOCATION FOR WAR AGAINST SYRIA, HEZBOLLAH AND, ULTIMATELY, IRAN
Israel has launched attacks against Syria in a clear attempt to escalate
the war to bring in the US and their allies the UK and France.
Not only have air strikes been made on as yet undisclosed targets in Syria,
but the Israelis flew to their weapons launch points (apparently the
Israeli aircraft didn’t actually enter Syrian airspace but used stand-off
weapons) after flying in Lebanon airspace in an attempt to provoke
Hezbollah as well as the Syrian government.
The strike comes at a point in the war when Israel has accused al-Assad
forces of using chemical weapons. Israel is hoping... more »

The Smallest Man In Canada
Michael Harris writes that Stephen Harper is the Wizard of Wrath:
Just as in the movie, our Wizard is playing the bully with the big stick to
the very end. In big things and little ones, the movie Wizard was nothing
like the superior being that Dorothy, the Tin Man and the Lion expected to
see when he was finally exposed. With Stephen Harper there is not much on
display other than the lust to control, exercised with that familiar and
most un-Canadian mean streak.
For, if there is one word which best characterizes the man, it is *meanness*:

Did the strike really take place?
And if so why didn't Israel or the US mention it yesterday?

Interruptions, interru...
The Unique Selling Point of my first BBC bias-related blog, *Beeb Bias Craig
*, was its use of *interruption coefficients* (not my own invention, I
hasten to add!). They provided a suggestive - if rather rough-and-ready -
measure of how a politician fares at an interviewer's hands during any
particular interview.
It was an attempt to bring a degree of objectivity to blogging about BBC
bias, which is usually highly subjective in nature.
Ignoring context and ignoring the content of the interview, it involved
counting interruptions and timing the lengths of interviews (or the

Israeli Airstrikes Signal Western Desperation in Syria

Sunday Classics preview: The symphonic Mozart dips into the minor
*Leonard Bernstein prepares listeners for listening afresh to Mozart's
Symphony No. 40. (Warning: It's pretty technical.)*
*by Ken*
I had a couple of possible post ideas that started to overlap and scrunch
into each other. I had in mind a post where we would listen to the iconic
first movements of Beethoven's Fifth and Ninth Symphonies, and I was
thinking separately about my curious ambivalence about Mozart's symphonies
with the notable exception of the G minor, No. 40. And it was hard to
escape one thing these three landmark symphonies have in common.
For tonight I thought we'd s... more »
Consent is not vitiated in all circumstances of sexual assault causing bodily harm
*R. v. Zhao,* 2013 ONCA 293 requires subjective intention to cause bodily
harm before consent for assault bodily harm is vitiated. The Court also
considered whether (without deciding) vitiation of consent is limited to
socially valueless conduct – such as consent fights. Consent might be
available as a defence even where bodily harm is intended and caused, as
long as the activity has social value – such as intimate (consensual)
sexual relations. *Zhao* questions older decisions which made consent no
defence in cases involving bondage type sexual activity (see para 79).

They Can Not Get Their Wars Against Syria Or Iran Going, So They Are Again Trying To Demonize North Korea!

these same murderous "rebels" to have the blame put on the Syrian

Why is Leslie Stahl sitting on the Advisory Board of an organization deeply
involved in a contentious political debate? And is her service on that
Advisory Board blessed by "60 Minutes"? Or were Stahl's superiors even
aware of her service? In any case, if "60 Minutes" has any inclination to
adhere to CBS' ethical guidelines, Stahl must be forced to resign from the
board.
