Northerntruthseeker Rant For Sunday, May 5th, 2013
Time for my Sunday rant, and there are many things to talk about.... First and foremost... We now see the sick and deadly game that the criminals in both the psychotic and terrorist state of Israel, as well as their puppets in the UnitedStates government, are playing when it comes to Syria... These sick bastards could not get their nice little war started by promoting the lie that Assad has used "chemical weapons" on his people, simply because that same false and tired claim was made to get the US war on Iraq off and running and people are no longer fooled... And the efforts to pro... more »

Merchants of Death
The privilege of gaping at piles of twisted metal and gawking at long-suppressed videos of people jumping to their deaths from the Twin Towers will not come cheap. So have decreed the people running the Atrocity Exhibition 9/11 Museum at the site of the 2001 World Trade Center attacks. Tickets will go at about $25 a pop. It's the high cost of fetishization. It's the overhead of building in the underground. Touring Ground Zero cannot come at zero cost to the public. This is America. The site, after all, is adjacent to Wall Street and Club Cipriani, home of the $25 hamburger. Profoun... more »
Here's Warren Kinsella Doing His Best Imitation Of A Serbian Nationalist ....
*When the Harper Conservatives attacked Justin Trudeau, who decried the nastiness of their attacks? Yes.. Mr. Kinsella. But what is this? Mr. Kinsella has decided to adopt the tone of a Harperite … and tear into Mulcair with trumped up charges and phony indignation. You can bet money if there were no Liberal on a ballot that Warren would make his 'X' on election day for a Conservative LONG before he would ever vote NDP. America Is Embracing The Secret Police Culture Of The Nazis
Michael Snyder Why do so many Americans want us to become more like Nazi Germany? When I was growing up, I was taught that Nazi Germany was the antithesis of everything that America stood for. I truly believed that we were "the land of the free" and that we were a bright, shining example for the rest of the world. Unfortunately, over the past couple of decades America has been eagerly embracing the secret police culture of the Nazis. In a desperate attempt to feel "safe", we have decided to become much more like our arch-enemies of the past. In fact, in many ways we have alre... more »

Say hello to the correction
By Capt. Fogg You know, markets* are* self-correcting to some extent, maybe not enough that we don't have to inspect meat or test drugs or set safety standards for airplanes, but maybe enough that dangerous products, unappealing products and frankly annoying things like the lies and propaganda and bigotry that Clear Channel produces and airs on about 600 radio stations in the US aren't doing well in the market any more. Perhaps it's that people are getting tired of the slander and quasi-treasonous, excremental and septic opinions of Rush Limbaugh, or perhaps it's the effect the boyc...more »

Cinco de Mayo
Cinco de Mayo has its roots in the French occupation of Mexico, which took place in the aftermath of the Mexican-American War of 1846-48, the Mexican Civil War of 1858, and the 1860 Reform Wars. These wars left the Mexican Treasury nearly bankrupt. On July 17, 1861, Mexican President Benito Juárez issued a moratorium in which all foreign debt payments would be suspended for two years. In response, France, Britain, and Spain sent naval forces to Veracruz to demand reimbursement. Britain and Spain negotiated with Mexico and withdrew, but France, at the time ruled by Napoleon III, dec... more »

Most people who haven’t seen the film, “Exile - a Myth Unearthed” assume it’s a ‘one-sided diatribe’. Biased-BBC accuses the BBC of pulling the film from the schedule as it was aimed at the delegitimisation of Israel and its right to exist, therefore too controversial. However, in accord with the BBC’s inherent bias against Israel, that particular controversy doesn’t seem a very logical reason for the BBC’s abrupt change of schedule. Past performance intimates that the BBC happily airs any number of one-sided diatribes against Israel while grimly insisting that they are not politi... more »
Guantanamo Detainee Lawyer, Andy P. Hart: Suicide or Murder?
image source Stephen Lendman On May 1, Truthout's Jason Leopold reported Hart's "apparent suicide." He represented a number of Guantanamo prisoners. More on that below. Key questions remain unanswered. Why would a federal public defender kill himself? Where and when did he die? Was an autopsy performed? If so, by whom? Why has no information been revealed? Why wasn't his death immediately announced? Apparently several days passed before it was. Why the secrecy? An alleged suicide note and thumb drive perhaps containing information on his cases remains concealed. Why? Hart's all... more »

Israel Launches Second Airstrike in Syria, Targeting Weapons Shipment
Israeli forces have carried out an airstrike against a shipment of sophisticated missiles bound for the Lebanese political and military organization Hezbollah, officials in Washington and Israel told reporters Saturday. Israeli officials described the missiles targeted in the Friday strike as “game-changing” weapons, according to the Associated Press. They said they were not chemical weapons, but advanced, long-range, ground-to-ground missiles. A Lebanese security official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that Lebanon is still investigating reports of the strike ... more »
The junk heap known as the New York Times!

Today I'll be learnin' you on how it's the pinkos, liberals, commies, white-guilt types who are the real racists in society. "The case for restorative justice" - times three
'Restorative justice' - the process whereby the criminal and the victim are brought together by the authorities, with the criminal admitting their guilt, giving an apology and, sometimes, making reparation - is very much in favour at the moment. It is widely supported, by people ranging from coalition ministers to bishops. It has it critics, however - though I've rarely heard them making their case on the radio. ISRAEL ATTEMPTS TO PROVOKE HEZBOLLAH
It’s clear that Israel’s strategy is to use the Syrian Civil War to deliberately provoke Hezbollah. The provocation is designed to goad Hezbollah into retaliation for over-flying Lebanon while on their way to apparently destroy weapons that the Israelis say are bound for Hezbollah. The strategy has worked before. In 2006 the Israelis flew low level high speed jet sorties over Lebanon. Hezbollah responded by launching rockets into Israel. The situation then quickly escalated when the Israelis prepared reconnaissance patrols into south Lebanon. This resulted in an Israeli patrol uni... more »

Big Oil Subsidies - Big Waste
*Menendez: Big Oil Profits + Big Oil Subsidies = Big Waste* Taxpayer-funded subsidies continue to pad enormous profits of Big 5 oil companies when they could reduce the deficit May 2, 2013 Washington, DC – *This week the Big 5 oil companies announced over $30 billion in first quarter profits,* leading US Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) to call again for an end to taxpayer-funded subsidies to these companies as part of tax reform. “*American taxpayers pad the enormous profits of the Big 5 oil companies by over $2 billion a year,*” said Senator Menendez. “We shouldn’t continue to ... more »
300 Gallons of Crude Oil - "Minor" Spill
*Oil spills into Mississippi River after barges break loose* derrick on May 3rd, 2013 5:16 pm - No Comment Yet A ship struck a barge fleet early Friday on the Mississippi River near Alton, setting off a domino effect that broke more than a dozen barges loose and ruptured a hose that spilled 300 gallons of crude oil. In addition, a team from the Coast Guard is inspecting the shoreline and so far has seen no sign that the oil spill is causing problems, Fogarty said. He characterized 300 gallons *as a “minor spill.”* What a crock -

Chamber Features Panel of Vulnerable Governors
Gov. Scott Walker traveled to Washington,D.C., earlier this week for America’s Small Business Summit, an annual event hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. There, Walker appeared on a special panel titled “How to Lead Enterprising States,” joining with the governors of Maine and Pennsylvania. “I participated in a good discussion about what we’ve done, and what we can continue to do, to help small businesses grow and thrive,” Walker said in summing up the trip for his weekly radio address. *Pennsylvania Governor – Corbett* Corbett is *one of the most unpopular governors* in the ... more »
BNP to Enter UKIP
It will no doubt be a cack-handed operation, but that is - apparently - what the BNP are planning to do. This from Nick Griffin's "analysis" of Thursday's election results on the BNP's website. Join us – or do this! If, for whatever reason, anyone who thinks of themselves as a nationalist isn’t prepared to join us and lend a shoulder to our wheel, then there is one other useful thing they can do: That is to join UKIP or to put in effort in the social networks to find and `influence those who have. Over the next few months, UKIP will sign up thousands of new, mainly newly politici... more »
The Guardian's Bad Facts:Error-Filled Article Needed More Editorial Inspection
As if to balance out the always informed and substantive commentary of its regular columnist Glenn Greenwald, The Guardian published an article this past week that provided a glimpse at the consistently sloppy and dishonest narratives promoted by mainstream media when it comes to Iran and its nuclear program. Published on April 21 in The Guardian's Business section, an article by Rupert Neale
I know what you’re thinking. But At the Chalk Face, data? Really?
Yes. We need some data. We’re not going to be using it to close anything, steal your house, or your dog. But we need to gather some information on the growing opt out or test refusal movement. We need to know a bit about who you are and why you’re doing this. So, we ask [...]
Hitting the Niall on the head
I don't often feel like visiting physical violence against someone, but Niall Ferguson deserves to be hit upside his head for his bizarre speech at some investment conference. Keynes' economic philosophy, Ferguson reportedly suggested, was the result of Keynes not caring about future generations. Keynes didn't care about future generations, Ferguson reportedly suggested, because Keynes was gay and did not have children. Ferguson apparently issued a lame apology after the entire internet went into an uproar over his ridiculously offensive remarks. He claims he went off the written... more »

Washington, DC Needs Women... But Not Women Like Penny Pritzker
This week, EMILY'S List launched a program, Madam President, to elect a woman president. The idea is GREAT. America is overdue and really needs a woman president. EMILY'S List, though, is the wrong organization to lead the effort, not much better than if the GOP launched the effort to push Michele Bachmann, Virginia Foxx or Kelly Ayotte. We've seen many times before that EMILY'S List's modus operandi is to viciously and baselessly attack progressive men with sterling records on women's issues, in order to push forward their own hackish candidates-- like Nikki Tinker-- who happen ... more »

*SATURDAY, MAY 4, 2013* *Interlude—With apologies, till Tuesday:* Doggone it! We won’t be able to finish our current series until we return to our sprawling campus on Monday night. On Tuesday morning, we’ll address the following question: How clearly did Professors Reinhart and Rogoff describe the “main finding” of their famous study from 2010? On April 26, the professors discussed their now-famous bungled study in a New York Times op-ed column. At three different points, they described the “fundamental finding” of that influential academic paper. The professors claimed that the... more »

RAY MCGOVERN: WORKING FOR PEACE
*Former CIA analyst Ray McGovern speaks tonight at Bowdoin College in Brunswick* I had lunch with Ray McGovern today. He swung by Bath and we walked down to our nice local Thai restaurant for a meal. The Economy: “This Car Won’t Move”
*“This Car Won’t Move”* by Jeffrey Tucker “The latest unemployment data reveal the hope and tragedy of the American economic plight. Cheers went up for a modest increase in hiring, one that: • barely keeps up with population; • features mostly temp workers; • leaves out prime-age males and all young workers; • and keeps labor participation rate at a low level from 1979. UK local elections: a study in hate and hypocrisy
The UK Local Elections for May 2013 are now over, and all the votes have been counted. The Zionist safety valve, UKIP, has taken a quarter of all votes cast, and has hailed this result as a 'sea change' in British politics. The near obliteration of the Liberals - whilst welcome - is far from unexpected. The collapse of the BNP, after years of self-destructive political manœuvres from the leaders of the party, is only noteworthy insofar as it hasn't happened sooner. The preparation of UKIP to replace the BNP has been under-way for years. The election results are far from a 'sea... more »

What Mattered This Week?
Back to basics: the employment report. Nothing great, but no disaster. We're certainly not having anything like Clinton's peace-and-prosperity second term, but at least for the moment it seems we're more in the direction of getting there than we are moving towards George W. Bush's second term. Even if there doesn't seem much hope of actually getting there within four years. It's good that Obama finally got around to choosing a Secretary of Commerce, but much harder to imagine how a Secretary of Commerce can matter. What do you have? What do you think mattered this week?

"Ohio" is a protest song written and composed by Neil Young in reaction to the Kent State shootings of May 4, 1970, and performed by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. It was released as a single, backed with Stephen Stills "Find the Cost of Freedom," peaking at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100. Although a live version of the song was included on the group's 1971 double album Four Way Street, the studio versions of both songs did not appear on an LP until the group's compilation So Far was released in 1974. The song also appeared on the Neil Young compilation album Decade, released in 1977... more »

This is a truly frightening video. NASA has modeled rainfall projections and it's very clear - if it weren't already - that food shortages from drought are going to lead to famine and violence. Since many staple crops are distributed through global trade, the effects will ricochet around the world leaving aid-dependant countries wanting, and prices soaring in developed nations, with the poorest starving first. I'm reasonably certain that NASA's models don't include the fact that trees are dying prematurely, at an exponentially rapid rate, from tropospheric ozone - which is going t... more »

What To Do About A GOP That Has Devolved Into Intransigent Extremism?
Joe Conason takes on the moronic Beltway adage that "everyone is equally at fault" for the nation's problems by pointing out that the most salient fact in American political life is (and for some time has been) the intransigent extremism of the Republican Party. Whatever the punditocracy may imagine, there is no way for Obama to force his agenda on the Republicans in the House and the Senate, who range from scheming partisans like Mitch McConnell and Eric Cantor to Tea Party zealots like Ted Cruz and Michele Bachmann. Plant Human Symbiosis
There are plenty of speculation and great leaps here but what it all comes to is a reworking of the Garden of Eden Paradigm. Yet that is where we are going in this blog’s teachings on terraforming terra. Our challenges are real: 1 Create a global middle class economy. We are two generations out on this. The derivative will be a generally free society evolving out of all that. It would be nice to plan it in than to do it the hard way. 2 Implement the global model farm community been developed here. Conjecture: Traders based on the coast established a new civilization to replace the lost Atlantean civilization directly to the East on the Cuban Arc. Earth's Core 1,000 Degrees Hotter Than Expected
This is information that matters because we can now determine melt points for other elements at similar pressures. All molecules disassociate down there and proper modeling needs accurate transition points. Recall that the key element at the final point of disassociation will be elemental carbon and I suspect that we actually have a working layer of it. Thus our diamond pipes are really carbon pipes rapidly burning their way upward. This also establishes a natural slip plane for the crust itself and allows the crust itself to remain in permanent balance. It is also ... more »
Islam Coexists?
This is a reminder that Islam is fanaticism at its worst. Individual Muslims usually retain the verities of civilized conduct, but they are clearly never supported in this by their religion. Boston is just one more totally lacking any sense of command and control. Yet we are expected to accept just this. There are appropriate responses that begin with confronting Islam and demanding that they bring their teachings into conformity ... more »
