Duncan Cough Luxembourg Liberation Lie BUSTED

After alleged Prime Minister Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson once more made himself appear frit before the opposition of a few protesters, there had to be pushback, and as so often, it was aimed at those ghastly foreigners who still don’t know their place. So it was that former minister Iain Duncan Smith invoked World War 2. Wrongly.

Ben Stokes Nails The Sun

Our free and fearless press, so we have been told time and again, cleaned up its act in the wake of Part 1 the Leveson Inquiry, so there was no need for Part 2. And time and again, we discover that there has been no cleaning up. The bad behaviour just carries on. And the principal culprit, as so often before Leveson, is the Murdoch press.

Wrongly.
As the Independent has told, “Former Conservative leader Iain Duncan Smith dredged up memories of the Second World War, saying: ‘The irony is that Luxembourg was saved by Britain. National leaders should always treat one another with courtesy and civility. Good ones do.’”. If only he treated facts with courtesy and civility.

But instead of its usual staple targets - Scary Muslims™, Rotten Lefties™, Trans people, those who work in local Government and in the Civil Service, and anyone involved in Political Correctness Gorn Mad™, the Murdoch Sun has today splashed England cricketer Ben Stokes on its front page. Or rather, it has splashed his family.

And it has splashed his family across the front page for no reason other than flogging a few more copies on the back of Stokes’ fame, telling readers “Exclusive: Tragedy That Hunts Stokes’ Family … Hero Ben’s brother and sister were shot dead”. His Mum’s ex-husband killed their children and then shot himself. Before Stokes was born..

To use my name as an excuse to shatter the privacy and private lives of … my parents is utterly disgusting … This is the lowest form of journalism … it is totally out of order … We need to take a serious look at how we allow our press to behave”.

Many victims of press misbehaviour will be quietly nodding their agreement with Ben Stokes. There is no possible public interest defence to running this story, replete as ever with invented quotes from “a source”. What is worse, press non-regulator IPSO will do nothing about this latest overstepping of the line. If Stokes makes a complaint to them, they will inevitably side with the Sun. And it will take them months even to do that.

Luxembourg - BBC Swallows Tory Spin

Claims that the BBC was not totally neutral in its coverage of alleged Prime Minister Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson have come thick and fast, yet the Corporation has tenaciously stuck to its line that it was merely reporting as it saw it. But yesterday came the giveaway moment, where all protestation of even-handedness was washed away, and not by those opposed to the Beeb, but by its own correspondents. Four of them.

Guido Fawkes - Murder Sentencing Liar

As his heroine Priti Patel has been caught lying about her previous support for the death penalty, the perpetually thirsty Paul Staines has felt the need to indulge in a little whataboutery, and in doing so has demonstrated just how knowledgeable he and his rabble really are when it comes to the criminal justice system, or maybe not.
“The killers of Jamie Bulger were sentenced on 24 November 1993, and released in June 2001, 7 years and 6 months later. Life did not mean life in that case”. Where do we start with that one? One, Robert Thompson and Jon Venables had already been in custody for nine months when they were sentenced. Two, they were not given a life sentence (minor point, eh?), but were sentenced to be detained at Her Majesty’s Pleasure. Three, they were children - both were 10 years old at the time of the abduction and murder. And Four, the murdered toddler was called James, not Jamie.
Murderers cop a plea of manslaughter and serve short terms”. Bloody hell, that must have been a good lunch. We do not have plea bargaining in the UK. Also, what plea is accepted is not down to the accused to dictate.
