China's Threat to U.S. Dollar Hegemony

A Political Junkie at Viable Opposition - 13 hours ago
As most of us are aware, the United States dollar, for better or worse, is considered the currency of choice, particularly in the world's commodity markets. Everything from oil to gold to grains is priced in U.S. dollars, a situation which is great for Americans but not so great for those of us who live in nations where the value of our currency, as measured against the mighty U.S. greenback, varies. The fact that U.S. dollars are the currency of choice for commodities means that consumers in nations outside of the United States are subjected to relatively wild fluctuations in the ... more »

Trump's War Cabinet And The Fiscal Doom Loop

David Stockman at - 14 hours ago
[image: undefined] Last week the Donald's incipient trade war got Wall Street's nerves jangling, but that wasn't the half of what's coming. To wit, Trump has now essentially formed a War Cabinet and signed a Horribus spending bill that is a warrant for fiscal meltdown. Indeed, the two essentially comprise a self-fueling doom loop which means Washington’s descent into fiscal catastrophe is well-nigh unstoppable; it’s all over except for the screaming in the bond pits. That is, Trump's new War Cabinet of John Bolton, Mike Pompeo, Gina Haspel and Mad Dog Mattis is arguably the most in... more »

This is actually huge. A pure protein and fat diet will fail to feed cancer cells. This was hinted at in past work but this is categorical. If you choose to live on ketones from the proteins, the cancer cells must go without. This also allows other therapies to be applied and rigorously measured as we stop having to adjust for cancer growth. I suspect that starved cancer cells will go dormant and try to wait you out, thus those other methods can only help. The real take home is that all cancer patients need to immediately switch out all carbs.. I added in an article of us... more »

Theresa May Playing a Reckless Game of Nuclear Roulette

Colin Todhunter at EAST BY NORTHWEST - 20 hours ago
Countercurrents, CounterPunch, RINF, Global Research Back in May 2017, just prior to the British general election, I wrote a piece arguing that a victory for Theresa May would see Britain dragged further towards war with Russia. While Britain is militarily weak compared to Russia, the point was that May would continue to do the bidding of Washington by demonising that country and engaging in provocative actions. Well, Theresa May is now prime minister and if anything supports the above view, it is the recent events surrounding the poisoning of former spy Sergei Skripal with the ner... more »

Squadron 42 (the narrative arm of the Star Citizen franchise) is 'what Chris Roberts was always about' iff we track his career through Freelancer, Wing Commander etc. i.e. a series of cutscenes wrapped around a flight dynamic. It is not the real reason. “Lying” is a strong word. Many falsehoods are bas... more »

*C. Iran’s proxies are running roughshod over America’s allies and interests in the Middle East. Hezbollah is dictating the terms of Lebanese politics and preparin... more »

DePetris* *Politics, North America* [image: Trump fires Secretary of State Tillerson] Washington was a foreign creature to him, where career Washingtonians might as well have been speaking Mandarin. They were the closing remarks of a man who was beaten and bloodied by the Washington game: *Never lose sight of your most valuable asset, the most valuable asset you possess: your personal integrity. Not one of you was gifted it; you were born with it. It belongs to you, and always has . . . This can be a very mean-spirited town. But you don’t have to choose to participate... more »

It borders the European Union countries of Greece and Bulgaria and shares its southern borders with civil war-torn Syria, the autonomous Kurdish region of Iraq, aspiring regional power Iran, Russian ally Armenia, and Georgia. Across the Black Sea is Russia, a traditional foe... more »

The U.S. Army Needs Modernized Humvees

Dan Goure at The National Interest - 1 day ago
*Dan Goure* *Security, * For a relatively modest expenditure, the Army can solve its Humvee recapitalization problem in the near-term. In future high-end conflicts, strategic mobility and tactical agility will be critical to U.S. Army operations. Based largely in the Continental United States, Army units will have to be moved by air and sea long distances to the theater of conflict. Once in theater, these units will have to be constantly on the move to avoid being subject to hostile fires. The Chief of Staff, General Mark Milley, describes the challenge for operational and tact... more »
