100 Years Ago The U.S. Entered The First World War

War News Updates Editor at War News Updates - 1 hour ago
*Politico:* *United States enters World War I, April 6, 1917* On this day 100 years ago, the United States declared war on Germany, entering the worldwide conflict then known as the Great War. The struggle, which had begun in the summer of 1914, would take a decisive turn against the Central Powers after more than 2 million U.S. troops, under the command of Maj. Gen. John J. Pershing, arrived in France to bolster the Allied effort. In 1916, Woodrow Wilson, the Democratic president, had sought reelection on the slogan, “He kept us out of war!.” He asserted that a Republican victory... more »

Collapsing shrimp catches confirm that we are seeing a powerful recovery of the northern cod Stock off Newfoundland. It took twenty years and some adjustments with mother nature but they are really back. This is the largest single population. As mentioned the southern stock is still struggling but i also cannot see it far behind either. This is great news and perhaps we can see the stock rebuilt to fifteenth century levels as well. The last hollow laugh

Not quite the end of history but perhaps the beginning of the end. Armageddon with the forces of the Anti Christ is well engaged as we speak. That it is not perceived as such is natural as that demands sensitivity. Victory itself will take the form of a general internal collapse of Islam in the face of the total end of global poverty. A spiritual transformation will ensue as well but that will be the easiest part as we now understand the physical reality of spirit. The Big Man will no longer be needed at all but will still be honored.. *The last hollow laugh * *Since Francis... more »

Waking Up From Religion

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 1 hour ago
Let us try to put all this into a proper perspective and also try to be fair and non judgmental. This is a deeply personal reaction to a religious organization that actually worked well enough for most. This can actually be said for all such organizations. The problem is that while religion is inspired by a spiritual agenda, it is also true that out of a community of hundreds, only a small handful are typically engaged in a spiritual practice at all and that may have little to do with organized anything. Spiritual practice demands intent and desire. There are many pathways... more »

*"8 Ways You Don't Realize Stress Is Ruining Your Health"* Researchers are finding more reasons than ever to chill out. By Larry Schwartz "We live in a hyped-up, caffeinated, digitized, 24/7, corporations-are-people kind of world. Along with the miracles of computers, smartphones and unfettered capitalism comes — surprise!—non-stop stress. On average, working professionals are connected to their jobs 72 hours a week. And science is discovering that along with non-stop stress comes disease. As human beings evolved, our reactions to stressful situations, the so-called fight-or-flight... more »

What Would Be The Russian Response To A U.S. Military Strike Against The Syrian Regime

War News Updates Editor at War News Updates - 8 hours ago
*Greg Jaffe, Washington Post:* *The main question after any strikes on Syria: How does Russia respond?* For President Trump, choosing targets and launching cruise missiles to punish the Syrian regime for using chemical weapons this week may be a relatively clear-cut decision. The big problem is what comes next. The military has been preparing options for a strike against President Bashar al-Assad since well before 2013, when the Syrian dictator killed more than 1,000 of his own people in a devastating nerve gas attack. A chemical attack by the Assad regime on Tuesday killed scores... more »

WWI Anniversary: 100 Years Of 'Making World Safe For Democracy'

Daniel McAdams at 14 hours ago
One hundred years ago today, President Woodrow Wilson went to Congress seeking a declaration of war on Germany. Thus started US involvement in World War One. More than 100,000 Americans were killed, but Wilson assured Americans that it was "worth it." We were making the world safe for democracy. One hundred years later, the war is still being fought.
