John Kerry Slams Russia For Supporting Syrian Government

The US Secretary of State has slammed Russia for supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, describing it as “irresponsible and profoundly ill-advised.” John Kerry said on Tuesday that Russia had turned a blind to Assad’s eye use of chemical attacks against its own citizens, leaving little hope for an early resumption of talks about a cease-fire. “My government is absolutely convinced that we are in pursuit of the correct goals in Syria,” adding, “but we acknowledge in sorrow, and I have to tell you with a great sense of outrage, that Russia has turned a blind eye to Assad’s dep... more »

BBC Drops Show Following Jokes About The Queen’s Sex Life

The ‘impartial’ BBC has dropped a show after jokes were made about the Queen’s sex life. BBC Radio 4 axed a show hosted by David Baddiel following complaints over jokes about the Queen’s sex life on her 90th birthday. Baddiel’s ‘Don’t Make Me Laugh’ featured a segment in which comedians discussed the monarch’s sex life. “I’m hoping maybe to pitch it again once we get past the 1960s. Oh no, wait a minute, it’s 2016,” Baddiel tweeted following the news. ‘Fraid so. I’m hoping maybe to pitch it again once we get past the 1960s. Israeli Calls For Arab Genocide Ignored By Media

Edmondo Burr at Your News Wire - 16 hours ago
Israeli “incitement” against Palestinians is being ignored by western mainstream press and social media. Supremacist rallies calling for Palestinian genocide are censored in western press but allowed to flourish on social media despite concerns and collaborations aimed at stopping “calls to violence”. Since last October, the Israeli government has accused Palestinians and their allies of “inciting violence” against Israelis, despite the fact that only 34 Israelis have died in that time frame compared to 230 Palestinians. The uptick in violence has been attributed to an internation... more »

Storing excess energy in trains

Luboš Motl at The Reference Frame - 21 hours ago
A recent blackout on Australia has been blamed on the irregular sources of energy, especially the wind turbines, by some people including the prime minister. Others disagree. Whether or not a particular problem such as this one should be blamed on "renewables", it's clear that their irregularity brings a serious problem for the grids, a problem that may very well beat the advantages. An obvious way to fight against the irregularity is to store the extra energy and use it when the wind isn't blowing or when the Sun is not shining. Every physical system in Nature carries energy so ... more »
