Foolish Obama About to Start World War III

Donn Marten at Carrying a Flag - 12 minutes ago
The 100th anniversary of the beginning of World War I is this week and at the rate that the dangerous and incompetent narcissist in chief is going we may just celebrate with a grand fireworks show that will usher in World War III. Let's face it, the United States has become addicted to war, outside of the financial fraud industry that was abetted by Obama with the huge Wall Street bailout and subsequent failure to prosecute any of those banksters responsible for wrecking the economy war is always the answer and in an election year with feckless Democrats terrified of being called ... more »

The Consistency of Official Iranian Commentary, Part III:On Khamenei's Referendum Rhetoric, Reuters is Wrong

Nima Shirazi at Wide Asleep in America - 34 minutes ago
Last week, Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei addressed a meeting of Iranian university students and, in his first public comments on the ongoing assault on Gaza, spoke of his belief in the necessity of continued Palestinian resistance to Israel aggression, oppression, and occupation. "Don't the Palestinians have the right to defend their lives and security?" he asked rhetorically, and

Asymmetric Warfare: MH17 False-Flag Terror and the 'War' on Gaza

Mark Daniels at Global Political Awakening - 47 minutes ago
Niall Bradley Signs Of The Times When MH370 vanished into thin air on March 8th this year, an international search-and-rescue party scanned two of the world's oceans, pored over satellite images and radar readings, and consulted automated communication relays between parts of the plane and their manufacturers that monitor aircraft system performance in real-time. Despite these multiple layers of hi-tech monitoring systems, there is still no trace of the missing Boeing 777-200ER. Or so we've been told. All 239 passengers and crew are officially reported as missing, presumed dead. P... more »

NEW MISSILE DEFENSE BASE PUBLIC HEARINGS IN FOUR STATES

Bruce K. Gagnon at Organizing Notes - 2 hours ago
*Ground-based mid-course 'missile defense' systems are now deployed in Alaska and California. Congress has called for studies to determine where an east coast deployment site could be located* There are various kinds of 'missile defense' (MD) systems now being tested. The one with the very worst testing record is the Ground-based Mid-course program. It is very likely the most expensive of the MD programs because of the sheer difficulty of trying to have a bullet-hit-a-bullet in deep space at more than 15,000 mph. In the end the program is incredibly destabilizing as the enti... more »

The BBC just really hate Sarah Palin, it's almost unbelievable how much they hate her.

Not a sheep at Not a sheep - 2 hours ago
A couple of minutes near the end of tonight's 6pm BBC Radio 4 news were devoted to making fun of Sarah Palin's America radio station. A couple of mispronunciations were played so everyone knows how stupid she is. And there was a dig at her earnings from being a Vice Presidential candidate. Oddly the BBC have never had a similar piece on the many verbal mistakes made by Vice President Joe Biden. Nor have the BBC examined the massive amounts of money earned by Bill Clinton since he left office or by failed Presidential candidate Al Gore. The BBC's hatred of Sarah Palin is almost u... more »

The sleeping beauty problem

Luboš Motl at The Reference Frame - 3 hours ago
Sean Carroll's blog posts are getting stupider and stupider. The latest one is about the Quantum Sleeping Beauty and the Multiverse He believes that the blog post is about quantum mechanics or a "quantum version" of a silly problem that philosophers like to answer incorrectly. Of course, there is no quantum mechanics in his musings whatsoever. He hasn't even attempted to think quantum mechanically in his whole life and all his thinking has always been purely classical. In this case, he is thinking about the probabilities in a classical Universe with many worlds and a sleeping forge... more »

THE SICKNESS IN ISRAEL

This video shows an Israeli mob actually singing in celebration of children’s deaths in the style of a soccer fans’ song: “In Gaza there’s no studying, No children are left there, Olé, olé, olé-olé-olé.” The mob also incites directly against Ahmed Tibi and Haneen Zoabi, two prominent Palestinian citizens of Israel who are members of the Knesset, Israel’s parliament. How Iraq’s Civil War Broke Out In Diyala Province Interview With Richard Buchanan

Joel Wing at MUSINGS ON IRAQ - 3 hours ago
Diyala can be said to be a microcosm of Iraq. It is the home to all three major ethnosectarian groups in the country. It has lush farmlands and mountain ranges. It also remains a battlefield between the security forces, militias and the insurgency today. In 2005 Richard Buchanan worked there as a defense contractor interrogating prisoners where he saw first hand the early stages of the civil war. Here is an interview with Buchanan about how the Iraqi insurgency was organized, what the militias did in response, and how the Americans were caught in the middle. Diyala province in ea... more »

MH-17: Uraine releases unconfirmed, possibly ill gotten flight data- Updated!

*Possibly, incorrect because as you will read the investigators are not confirming the claims made by Kiev.* *Ill-gotten* defined as *-acquired by illegal, dishonest or unfair means.* No confirmation which makes me question the credibility of the information presented. Is this just a psychological operation? Lots of news stories with the sentence "Kiev says". Exactly as was written when MH-17 crashed. This still reeks of creating/controlling the narrative. *Independent * *Dutch authorities have criticised Ukraine* for releasing information 'too early' and say they *do not know ho... more »

HL-LHC: 10-tesla shorter magnets are ready

Luboš Motl at The Reference Frame - 4 hours ago
The CERN website printed a cute engineering story about the Fermilab's success this spring: Next-generation magnets: Small, but powerful This fall, the Fermilab has shown a prototype of 10.4 tesla magnets. The high-luminosity (=more collisions per second) large hadron collider (HL-LHC) will need some new collimators etc. and in order to squeeze them over there, one will need magnets that are both shorter and stronger. The LHC has lots of 14-meter-long magnets that are 8 tesla strong. These Fermilab folks have presented a 2-meter prototype of a 11-meter-long magnet that has 10.... more »

"Prolife" has no shame or sense of irony. This is what was posted on the front page of their website. Gun held to the head of a Canadian physician? This is why. So "prolife" supports choice when it goes against the oath that doctors swear to uphold, AND limits women's choices. A reminder that the "prolife" movement has a violent history of executing doctors and staff at abortion clinics.

I watched it a couple of days ago at Montreal Simon's and I just thought I'd discuss what I saw at that NOW Magazine video. In the first segment, we hear someone shout "Fag!" But mostly it becomes an attempt by Ford's fans to drown out the organizers of "Queeruption" from speaking to the media by shouting "Rob Ford!" over and over, louder and louder. The Propaganda and Politics of MH17

Eric Draitser The downing of Malaysian Airlines flight 17 (MH17) is a tragedy that will be remembered for years to come. However, the way in which the West has distorted the facts about what happened is no mere accident. Rather, it is a clear attempt by Washington and its allies and proxies to capitalize on the incident, using it as a weapon in their continued belligerent and aggressive policies toward Russia. Recent days have seen a deluge of propaganda from both the US government and the Western media (especially US media) which, despite being short on facts, has attempted to p... more »

zucchini abundance recipe of the day: penne with zucchini and fresh herbs

laura k at wmtc - 7 hours ago
This is probably the easiest way to use zucchini from your garden, and if you're growing herbs, it's an excuse to use those, too. It's also one of those dishes that takes just about anything you like in pasta. I'm keeping it very simple, so as not to drown out the zucchini. I use brown rice pasta. I originally tried it when we thought one of us was celiac, then it became habit. It's delicious and very healthy, but it does need the extra step of rinsing the cooked pasta. If you don't do that, the pasta will all stick together in a one big gluey mess... something I discovered painful... more »

Peak politician

Peter Cresswell at Not PC - 17 hours ago
You don’t hear the Greens talking about “peak oil” anymore, and there’s a simple reason for that. The simple reason is that even the Greens now realise “peak oil” is bollocks. Fracking changed all that. So now, they’re against that. So we are still nowhere near peak oil, and given how resource economics work, unlikely ever to approach it. However, we’re a small country, with few naturally occurring sources of hot air and blowhard, and it looks like we might have now approached peak politician. The evidence for this frightful state of affairs grew even greater over the weekend, ... more »

The Isreali Genocide Of Gaza Continues: WHY Do Israelis Continue To Kill Palestinians?

Northerntruthseeker at Northerntruthseeker - 17 hours ago
The Israeli onslaught and massacre in the Gaza Strip against innocent people continues... The laughable ceasefire is now over and Israel is again killing Palestinians in what is in reality the world's largest concentration camp with impunity. It is so disgusting that our own governments continue to turn their backs on this slaughter and cold blooded genocide of innocent people. There has always been one very nagging question that everyone should be asking, and it is : WHY in the HELL do the Israelis continue to kill Palestinians?. Substance abuser and New Dem Petey-Pie lets his hair down I don't think even someone as astoundingly incompetent as Steve Israel could lose CA-31-- the Inland Empire congressional district-- for the Democrats again this year, despite having maneuvered to get an ethics-free, corrupt ex-lobbyist, Pete Aguilar, the nomination. After all, the district has a PVI of D+5, Obama won it both times with 57% and the Republican incumbent Israel allowed to slip in in 2012, Gary Miller, is retiring. BURNING THE DRAFT NOTICES FROM KIEV

The Vineyard of the Saker writes: For a couple of days now, I have posted various items showing the large number of casualties amongst the Ukie forces fighting against Novorussia, and I have observed with some amusement how many of you have expressed doubts about the veracity of these figures. Today Nora drew my attention to a short video of a Ukie army recruiting officer being confronted by a crowd of civilians, mostly women, mostly mothers. The video is a few days old, but this version is subtitled in English, so please watch it now.

the decision "you'll regret for the rest of your life": the reality gap in fictional abortions

laura k at wmtc - 21 hours ago
The conversation around the movie "Obvious Child" has prompted me to re-visit a long-standing interest of mine, one I share with many other reproductive rights activists: the portrayal of abortion in the mainstream media. I haven't seen "Obvious Child" (I wait for DVD or Netflix, as always), but I've heard that it includes a rarity: an honest and positive portrayal of the choice to terminate a pregnancy. Considering how many women do have abortions - and considering that the choice is usually met with relief and happiness - this shouldn't be exceptional. Yet it is. On fictional TV ... more »

More Twitter folly from another BBC reporter

DB at *Biased BBC* has noted an intriguing change of header on BBC journalist Julie Macfarlane's Twitter feed. It now shows "gun-toting pro-Palestinian flag-wavers", says DB, quipping, "But she’s not trying to make a statement, honest. Just a coincidence". Now, why would DB read anything into that change of header? Well, probably because he's been following her incredibly biased Twitter feed. Please read it for yourselves and see what you think. I think it shows a one-sided BBC journalist in action, albeit the kind of BBC journalist whose bias lies in her re-tweets rather than i... more »

ISRAELIS WAGE TOTAL WAR AGAINST THE GAZA STRIP

Such is the small size of the Gaza Strip, together with the extremely dense way the enclave is populated, and coupled with the devastating way the Israelis have destroyed entire neighbourhoods including homes, hospitals, schools, government buildings and infrastructure as well as the huge loss of civilian life across much of the entire Strip, the Palestinians can be forgiven for thinking that total war is being waged against them. *Guest post by Randal O’Toole* How do you plan for the unpredictable? That’s the question facing “planning” organisations writing transportation plans for their regions. Peace in the Middle East: Pat Condell from 2012.

If the U.S. and its vassals truly wanted to know what dastardly deeds Russia is pulling against "innocent" Ukraine, they would either send observers ...or take advantage of unbiased observers such as Human Rights Watch. Here below Human Rights Watch members on the spot have not only found no Russian troops in the Russian-speaking province of Donetsk, or firing across the Russia-Donetsk border at these innocent civilians (as the U.S. alleges), but they have painstakingly determined that rockets that have been destroying buildings and murdering inhabitants of Donetsk have been fired from areas under the control of the neocon/neo-Nazi Ukrainian government (which the U.S. supports). Clearly Russia is innocent of what the U.S. and its vassals allege justifies nuclear war against Russia. Is all human life on earth to be eradicated due to the lies of Washington as promulgated by the despicable "mainstream media" and blindly accepted by the gullible American people?
