That would be correct. The description of modeling scenarios as scientific fact is not merely an allegation without substantiation, it ignores the requirement of data to be used in establishing the facts - not fantastical projections. Part of the reason for this is simple : G.I.G.O. When data for modeling is sparse, ignores many drivers, and is generally beyond our capacity to perform in such a way as to demonstrate reliable soothsaying, you may note the universities know the difference between politicization and panacea.

to help me flesh-out what scientific peer review IS exactly, I contacted the Tarzan of science and technology historians, David F. Noble.
David Noble is currently a tenured professor in the Department of
Social and Political Thought at York University in Toronto. His activism
about matters involving the politics of science first surfaced in the
early 1970s when he says he was "coerced" by the University of Rochester
to sign away rights to his doctoral thesis in history in order to get
his PhD......he’s been a champion of social justice throughout his career. Acts of courage (partial list) include: co-founding the National Coalition for Universities in the Public Interest with Ralph Nader in 1983 to address the nightmare of universities selling out to corporations; attention to the issue of science and misogyny; and challenging religious bias in academia.

David Noble: When you say THE problem is the peer review system – the peer review system in my view is doing what it was designed to do — censor. And filter. Peer review is a system of prior censorship, prior review – prior meaning prior to publication. So the idea of abusing the peer review system sort of adds insult to injury, because the peer review system itself is injurious.

A caveat on 'Greedy Lying Bastards'

“I went to see Greedy Lying Bastards.
I think your review or recommendation needs a strong caveat. I think it
was far too divorced from movements, overly focused on the director as
an actor for change, gave no real solutions or things that people could
do that would make a difference (write to your member of Congress).
“And perhaps worst of all, I saw it as one
long ad for the Democratic Party. All the evil people were Republicans
or fossil fuel CEO’s, while the person held up as pro-environment and on
the right side were Democrats, even going so far as to intimate in the
film Obama helped in Copenhagen with the shot of him and voice over from
2009.
Giving the Democrat Party or Obama Administration credit for
having a “Liberal” progressive & environmentally protectionist
agenda seems equally ridiculous as expecting Greedy Lying Republican
Industrialists to have “Libertarian” values. The planet is suffering
under a crime syndicate order of Totalitarian Fascist Globalists. It’s
hardly possible to decipher the truth about anything, thanks to
sociopathic, mercenary, feudal factions of the Military Industrial
Complex, endlessly pointing the finger of blame at each other. Whether
human industrialization is changing the climate or not, selfish
industrial opportunism is poisoning the global environment &
destroying the entire, interconnected, web of life on Earth.

Not quite sure why Bandt finds this so difficult to comprehend, but Australia’s emissions are 1.5% of the global total. If we reduced that to zero overnight, it would make no difference at all to the climate. As it is, we are only planning to reduce by 5% by 2020, or in other words, 0.075% of global emissions, when the major emitters are doing close to nothing by comparison.
And Bandt thinks that will make a difference to bush fire frequency or intensity?Me too. I just have heard the same words from Hunt. Its time that Tony Abbot puts the warmists to rest (killed them off) with some of the facts about the climate, the IPCC et al. Tony was right when he said the science was crap. It simply is. Maybe Hunt wasn’t listening? And a consensus (even if one existed) is politics and not science. Maybe Tony should employ some one the sceptical side of things (…..like Labor hired Flannery) to put together an educational programme exposing the madness of what the warmists spout all of the time. Maybe someone like Carter, or Plimmer? Why not Monckton?
Some green policies themselves in recent decades contribute to worsening effects on communities from bushfires, such as: residents not being allowed a buffer or fire break between their homes and vegetation and/or not being allowed to clear vegetation and re-growth near their homes, (which was not always the case when the homes were first located and built); encouraging re-growth and growth nearer to houses and communities; the scaling back of fire access trails; changes and reductions in forest management practices including sustainable logging in certain areas which kept re-growth and fuel loads down-especially those nearer to communities; not allowing some developments which would ordinarily buffer communities such as golf courses and parks adjacent to areas of thick vegetation, etc etc.
These policies are sometimes only minor and wont do all that much against megafires, but they can and do make things worse, on occasion for communities. In particular, people should be allowed to clear vegetation and protect their property which are near vegetated areas, particularly when that was the case when the homes were first built. Converting areas of former logging, especially those which kept fuel loads from building up, to National Parks also has a strong effect on bushfire intensity and effect, especially nearer to communities. When National Parks and other conservation areas are proposed, especially in areas of former logging which kept fuel loads down, such an effect on surrounding communities rarely gets a mention. Such green policies occasionally therefore make the bushfires worse. One step forward is greater planning restrictions in building houses and other public infrastructure near to high fuel load forested areas, but this doesn’t address those areas where the homes are already built.

In all cases the bush is right up to the back fence.The house that survived was cleared of scrub front and back and has non native looking evergreen shrubs protecting the back wall.
The experience of the Ash Wednesday fires and the more recent Victorian ones is that you need to reduce fuel and have fire breaks to have a chance of survival.
Present policies of fire mitigation lead to a complete hot burn under far from ideal conditions destroying people their homes and the local wildlife.
Remembering back to my adolescence in the 60′s the whole of the Blue Mountains went up in flames.
Why do we keep repeating these mistakes of the past?
Two elementary points:
1. Australian bushfires are so natural that the seeds of some Western Australian wildflower species won’t germinate unless a fire has passed over them.
2. It may be unseasonably hot in Australia, but it’s unseasonably cold in Europe. Munich, for example, has had snow weeks before it normally arrives. (In fact Europe has been suffering abnormally cold winters for a string of years.)

I thought the GW mantra held that industrialisation since the WW11 had caused the expansion of the human caused CO2 in our atmosphere which is the whipping boy of the doom sayers.

For a ‘Greenie’ doesn’t Bandt know that fires are a natural phenomena crucial to Australia’s ecosystem? Native plants such as banksia and xanthorrhoea require smoke from ‘cooler’ fires for the their seeds to germinate. Australia’s Indigenous have used back-burning for centuries for hunting, and as a result, plants have adapted and thrive through enriched carbn rich soils left through slow burning. Without back burning we are left with catastrophic, intense heat fire that destroys ALL flora and fauna including beneficial soil borne micro organisms.
Yes, hot days are a contributing factor with fires, but it is the build up of organic material left without slow burning that adds fuel to devastating fires. To simply blame hot weather is ludicrous. To politicise it is moronic.

The exclusive show presented the case of multimillionaire American businessman Rick Bourke, who supposedly blew the whistle on a fraudulent scheme by international criminals to gain control of the oil riches of Azerbaijan. Since May 2013 Rick Bourke has been held in a federal prison for violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act for alleged knowledge of the bribery that allegedly took place in 1998. Other investors in the corrupt Azerbaijan scheme included former Democratic Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell and major institutions, including Columbia University and AIG. However, so far, no one has been jailed other than Bourke.
