Miley Cyrus MTV MVA-2013

thwap at thwap's schoolyard - 12 minutes ago
Long-time readers of this site know about my utter fascination for the cultural enigma that is Miley Cyrus. Well, all I could say about the Pop Princess's performance at this year's Music Video Awards is said here at The Onion: So, as managing editor of CNN.com, I want our readers to know this: All you are to us, and all you will ever be to us, are eyeballs. The more eyeballs on our content, the more cash we can ask for. Period. What was Miley Cyrus thinking?

Not a sheep at Not a sheep - 32 minutes ago
I'd initially missed the fuss over Miley Cyrus's 'performance' with Robin Thicke at the MTV Awards. 'Twerking' was the phrase I've seen mentioned the most, I'd stick with embarrassing. Watching the first part of the video I was wondering what Miley Cyrus was wearing under her bear themed romper suit, she seems a little young to suffer from incontinence after all. The strip at 3:03 explained that. The 'twerking' at 3:53 raises other question, but more importantly what is up with Miley Cyrus's tongue, can't she keep it in her mouth? Here's some stills... Miley Cyrus in her odd bea... more »

Syrian strikes sooner rather then later: Israeli intel lights the way. Iran?

Penny at Penny for your thoughts - 36 minutes ago
I have been thinking about Syria in terms of the the situation with Iran especially the attack that Israel so urgently wants to make against Iran. Of course, this is also on the minds of Israeli leaders. Would Israel take the opportunity, under cover of the strikes from the US/UK etc, to strike at Iran? I kind of doubt it myself, but, it is worth considering. So will Israel strike Iran? We have talked that subject on a number of occasions. *For Israel, US response on Syria may be harbinger for Iran* In Jerusalem, Washington’s resolve in Syria is seen as a crucial litm... more »

Ed Balls - economic genius?

Not a sheep at Not a sheep - 1 hour ago
Only a few months ago, Ed Balls was attacking the Conservative lead Coalition government's economic record. 'Your experiment with austerity economics has failed on living standards, jobs and growth and on deficit reduction too – and the British people are paying the price for this failure.' Today I note that that left wing economic commentator Paul Mason in The Guardian writes: 'The argument that fiscal austerity would lead to deep recession or permanent stagnation has proved false. In part, this is because the austerity is back-loaded, with the heaviest cuts starting now. But the ... more »

by Len Hart, The Existentialist Cowboy Jung's influence has been keenly felt among screenwriters, novelists, and 'literati' who often speak of a "character's shadow", one of several "archetypes", a mirror image of what writers call the "higher self". Related to Jung is the work of Russian folk tale expert, Vladimir Propp, who thought of "archetypes" as "masks" deliberately worn by "characters". Masks are worn in both stories and in life for one of two purposes or both: to reveal and/or to hide. In most cases a benign public mask is worn to hide facets of the personality with which ... more »

China, Canada sign military co-operation initiative

U.N. INSPECTORS TOLD ONLY TO CONFIRM GAS ATTACK: NOT WHO IS RESPONSIBLE

United Nations spokesman Martin Nesirky has been reported as saying that the mandate of the UN inspectors in Damascus investigating last weeks gas attacks is only to determine if chemical weapons were used; not who used them. Misogyny. No other word can capture the avalanche of abuse that was heaped upon Caroline Criado-Perez, Stella Creasy, Mary Beard and other women just under a month ago. It was frightening and disturbing. Misogyny, after all, is one of those things official society thought was dealt with in the dim and distant. If women marched and protested in the 1970s, then the Spice Girls and Girl Power in the 1990s signalled women's integration into society as equals. It was done. Women were happy working, raising families, and shopping. Just like men. The rape threats and violent language direc... more »

Innately hostile to traditional morality, it paves the way for a secular Inquisition in which today's Torquemadas are the ideologues of such group rights — and it is Christians and other religious believers who are the heretics to be silenced by force.' The Economy: “Bogle’s ‘Battle for the Soul of Capitalism’ Rages”

noreply@blogger.com (CoyotePrime) at Running 'Cause I Can't Fly - 23 hours ago
* “Bogle’s ‘Battle for the Soul of Capitalism’ Rages”* by Paul B. Farrell “Doomsday Capitalism?” Yes, Jack Bogle’s classic, “The Battle for the Soul of Capitalism” hit the stands in 2005. The first assault ended four years later. “They” won. In 2009 we suggested a sequel: “Capitalism Died a Lost Soul.” We lost more than the American dream. What Bogle diagnosed as “mutant capitalism” is killing America’s “soul.” Still, “they” won’t stop fighting. Their greed is all-consuming. More is never enough. “They” want absolute power. “Mutant capitalism” has morphed into “doomsday capitalis... more »

Instead, they hacked in and began bugging UN teleconferences at its New York headquarters. Der Spiegel, based on another Snowden leak, reports, quoting an NSA document: “The data traffic gives us internal video conferencing of the United Nations (yay!)” We’re not just talking about General Assembly meetings. NSA had to crack code to get in. Presumably, these were smaller, more private sessions. Der Speigel also mentions that NSA has b... more »

Misleading the State of Education: Zais Plays Partisan with School Praise

Superintendents of education in states across the U.S. are necessarily political positions, either political appointments or elected offices.
